Story
Conventional accounting uses the logical (albeit, flawed) formula: Sales - Expenses = Profit. The problem is, businesses are run by humans, and humans aren't always logical. Serial entrepreneur Mike Michalowicz has developed a behavioral approach to accounting to flip the formula: Sales - Profit = Expenses. Just as the most effective weight loss strategy is to limit portions by using smaller plates, Michalowicz shows that by taking profit first and apportioning only what remains for expenses, entrepreneurs will transform their businesses from cash-eating monsters to profitable cash cows.

stick to E Myth Revisite
I was a huge fan of Emyth, but I couldn't get through this one. Rather than concentrate, all I wanted to do was punch Michael and Sarah out. It is literally a 30-minute message, dragged out to seven hours. Or as Michael would put it. "Dragged out to seven hours, stretched to 420 grueling minutes, literally, painfully, and without remorse, extended through its very being, its guiding light, its very essence, to 25,200 seconds -– as if it had all the time, all the permission, and all the guile, in the world, the universe..."

Good Grief
I love great business books. This isn't one of them. E Myth Revisited was wonderful. I managed to suffer through 2 CD's of E Myth Mastery but couldn't take any more. It's the most painful droning of someone spewing words without information imaginable. Save yourself the pain and read E Myth Revisited twice.

Mindless dribble
I love business books, but this one was too much to bear. Masked by a feeble attempt to tell a story, rather than say what he's trying to say, Gerber goes on for hours using phraseology that might make sense to him, and noone else.
He goes on for hours about how the Entrepreneur needs passion, and the passion leads to vision, and the vision drives the purpose, and the purpose drives the mission, but the passion does not lead to the mission, only to the purpose. And if you don't have passion? Well then you need to get it! Then, you take the mission, and give it to your financial manager, give the vision to your technicians, give the purpose to your marketing manager... Do you understand Sarah? "I think so."
I honestly tried to follow it, but I had to stop after five hours.
I'm sure it's great for the people that don't have to "do" anything in their business to sit around and think about vision and purpose... But for the other 99% of us, this book makes no sense.

Very Disappointing
When I listened to E-Myth Revisited I thought, ?Wow, this is great. This is exactly that I need. This is a new way of thinking about starting a business. I can?t wait to hear what else this author has to say.? But when I listened to this title I was very disappointed. It was just so ?touchy, feely, gooey.? The advice was blatantly obvious. I feel like I gained very little, not nearly enough for the time I spent. And as much as I liked Sarah in the first book, I think she needs to be retired. If you?ve listened to E-Myth Revisited, stop there. If not, spend your money on that book not this one. Sorry Michael?

This audible book will put you to sleep; in my case, I was frustrated so much as Mr. Gerber kept going on, and on, and on, as if he had to fill the time. After listening for 7 hours and something, I realized he could have put the whole book in 15 minutes. Nothing new in the book; Very Boring Book

If you Own a Small Business - Listen to This Book!
The other reviews of this book on Audible.com are less than flattering. I own a small business and have started several, and this book BLEW ME AWAY! It is extremely VALUABLE. Yes Michael Gerber gets a little touchy-feely at times but you have to apply Sarah's story to your own circumstance. I have a Masters Degree in Engineering and Business and am very logical and analytical, that is why Gerber's book makes so much sense. Just look around at businesses in your area. How many of them have been in business for 15 years? How many are family owned for 25 years? How many of those have grown beyond mom-and-pop size? My observation is "Not Many". All those Mom-and-Pops have created 80-hr-a-week jobs for their owners and something to pass on to their kids, but little more. Gerber gives you the insight to use the lessons of the McDonalds and IBM's of the world to re-fuel your passion and to BUILD YOUR business, not just work in it.
If you are a "company guy" or an In-trepreneur (works the system inside the company), then go listen to Jack Welsh or Lou Gerstner's books. If you are an Entrepreneur, then Gerber's E-Myth or E-Myth Revisited is a MUST Listen.
I've listened to it twice, and a third listen is in the queue soon!
Enjoy!

Honestly Bad and a Waste of Time
I heard the first book to this series "the E-myth" and found it inspiring. I hope to learn more about the details and implementation of the teachings but this book does not do any of that. It just has a name that make you think you will get those details. It just repeats what was said in "the e-myth" book, only in a much less specific but much more annoying way, to the point you just have to give up wasting your time.
After 1-2 hour and into Chapter 6, the book is still convincing you to change without telling you how to do it.
This book is a waste of time if you have already read/heard "the e-myth", and DO NOT expect this book to tell you how to master the skills to become a world class business.
I guess the first step is to acquire the ability to identify the bad signs as early as possible, so to minimize the loss of energy and time to the least.
A complete disappointment.

Great Read...if you love climbing
I attended a recent lecture by Michael in 2005 and have also read e-Myth Revisted three times.
You are either a dreamer and love "climbing" or not.
I think the reviews above are a great example of the ones who truly can not climb. They are not truly driven. If they were then they may understand his story in e-Myth Mastery...its his story, his life story. In good and bad times he built a world class company. To call the telling of ones life "mindless dribble" is all to telling as to why an entrepreneur will want to look past such a review from the "folks in the village" and just keep on climbing.
Get this book to simply reinspire you. If he can do it so can you (and trust me me Michael's story is very real - not many would have stuck through it like he did).

Waste of Time
This guy really has no respect for your time. I tried to listen for over two hours and learned absolutely nothing. In that two hours the book never even started giving any helpful information--just long winded stories. I couldn't stand listening long enough to get to the actual purpose of why I bought the book. I had a feeling that would start another hour in and I couldn't make myself hold out. This is the first review I've ever written. I hope to save you some time. Don't buy!!!

I need to re-read, it was a lot of information.
I need to reread it but I felt like it was a lot of information, but with nothing hugely particular to say. But maybe I've learned it already from other books? His book the e-myth revisited is so good! But this one, I didn't get too much out of. But that might be just because of my own knowledge and what I have read so far with other books. I read a lot! 😊

Skip the first 2:14 hours
I loved E-myth Revisited and decided to try this as well. To my great disappointment the first more than two hours was pointless talk with so many repetitive sentences and fill-words that I was very close to simple end listening. I decided to finish to not miss out on the information and there are 2:14 hours it began. From here to the end it explains what to do after you’ve been running your small enterprise for a bit, what problems you will encounter and how to overcome them. It is like a continuation of the first book but a chronological continuation. It’s great though but not as good as the first book.

A lot of talking
The real deal is the last three hours. The rest is boring very descriptive words. Once he starts on disciplines is what matters, and again not all. The book was supposed to be 1 hour in duration, so you can tell.

Story
As statistics tell us that most of the "ventureholics" who go out on their own to start a business will ultimately fail; and, as readers will learn, the main reason for this is because most businesses are not started the right way. Based on decades of experience working with small business owners, Michael Gerber will teach budding entrepreneurs his one-of-a-kind seven-step method - which is meant to be conceptualized long before the doors are ever opened.
