Worth your time!
I won’t give the synopsis of this book but Roseanna White has done it again! Rich characters and a pivotal time in history provides the basis for a wonderfully written book! I loved the growth in Phin and Delia, loved Luther and his search for Eva, and loved River and Selena! Sarah Zimmerman did an excellent job as the narrator! I’ll be looking for other books by her! Definitely worth your time!

Captured me right from the beginning!
This story and the reader had me at the edge of my seat at times desperate to hear what happens next - tempted to fast forward my audiobook just to learn the fate of the characters. Speaking of characters, they are skillfully developed throughout and the tale of war, survival, and romance is masterfully woven. I am going to listen to another Roseanna M White book immediately.

So glad I didn’t give up
I am so glad I did not give up on this book. I am a very big fan of this author, I’ve loved all of her books. It took me a little bit to get into this book, I actually almost gave up on it. I struggled with the main character, and what I thought was going to be condoning of the confederate belief.
I am glad I read other reviews and trusted the author. I really enjoyed this book and the growth the characters went through.

Best yet
I think this is White’s best book yet. The characters are irresistible. Historical situations make it interesting without worry about cringing through details of Civil War battles.

I’m a big fan of Roseanna White, but I struggled with this book. I had trouble following the story line at times, and the ending, to me, feels almost hurried.
