Story
My idea of a good time used to be a rom-com and pint of ice cream. But when a lethally sexy fae king kidnaps me, that changes. I’m forced to compete in a deadly competition to become his queen. Now, my idea of a good time is surviving the day. The Court of Starlight and Darkness is a gorgeous place, but I can’t stay. The Ice King's eyes burn with heat each time he looks at me, and I burn right back. The problem? He's dangerous. The king has no idea I’m human, and if he finds out, I’m dead. My only choice is to compete until I find a way to escape—and survive until then.

Fun story; terrible narration
This is a fun series of novellas for any age. I mean, who doesn't love dragons? I love the basic story here, and I like the main protagonist and her interesting collection of friends and allies, but it took effort for me to get past the terrible narration and stay immersed in the story. It sounded as if the narrator was reading this book for the first time, aloud, and she was not good. This was more than 11 hours of: misspoken words (I'm still not sure if one particular character is male, female, or perhaps both); terribly done, inconsistent character voices; poor cadence; and her mispronunciations are so bad that every time she says the word "crutch" I hear "crotch." I'm probably going to just read the next 15 installments.

Narrator ruins the story
I love the story, but the narrator really ruins it for me. She reads the texts to quickly and with confusing expression. She is able to do some voice changes but she makes the voice of the heroine's love interest sound like a small frail girl. I want to keep listening but her narration of this story is really ruining it for me.

Interesting Enough
2.5 stars
The story itself got 3.5 stars. It was written fairly well and I admit to be caught by the story line. Highly likely I'll at least get the next installment in the series (episodes 6-10) at least but I was not impressed by the narration and rated the performance with 1 star. So more than likely I'll get the ebook and read rather than listen to the audiobook.

ok story, poor narration
I had a hard time finishing this set primarily due to the narrator. She does not differentiate the voices and her pacing and of pronunciation on occasion pulled me completely out of the story.
I like the heroine of the story and think the storyline has possibilities but cannot go any further with this narrator.

Wonderful Stories
What can I say, I love Sarah's stories! This set was no exception. She writes wonderful fantasy and gives her characters so much development, they feel like real people. The world building brings the Dragon School world alive and you can see it vibrantly. The only issue I had with the audible form of the stories is the narrator. There are so many mispronounced words that I found myself correcting them out loud. It was really frustrating for me, but I'm an acknowledged grammar Nazi. If you can get past that, and if you enjoy stories like the Dragonriders of Pern, you'll enjoy the Dragon School series by Sarah K.L. Wilson also. I highly recommend you give them a try!

really D level stuff
Almost everything about this is bad. The main character is such an engaging character but she can't be expected to carry this pile of garbage. No character could.
The real issue here before I get too ahead of myself is the narrator. Holy heck is it bad. They constantly mispronounce words. (gaped has been pronounced gapped twice that I have noticed) They pause at weird times. Don't pause at weird times. Awful.
Just in the writing itself there is almost no merit. The pacing makes no sense. I feel like the author was trying to create some sense of intensity but the first three books take place in what feels like an hour. No one else in the story is even worth paying any attention to. If you do pay attention you either immediately dislike them or you just grow to dislike them. It is one of those stories where the main character is constantly overlooked because she is disabled and she has to overcome adversity to gain their respect..... every. single. chapter.
Everyone in the story is an idiot except for the girl and her dragon blah blah blah. Tedious doesn't begin to describe the challenges this girl and the readers face.
I won't be finishing this book. I would tell someone I hate to get it but I'm afraid they would think I'm an idiot and I won't give them the satisfaction.

The worst narrator ever.
I have been listening to audio books for a long time now and have come across a few poor narrators and come across very good narrators.
If this narrator would have been my first experience with audiobooks I would never ever have become a fan of audio books.
She is so bad that I decided to continue with the story via kindle and read it. The story is very interesting.
My advice don’t listen to this book but do buy it to read for yourself!!

Good story ruined by narrator.
The story is just fine, quite predictable, but not bad for a teen reader/listener. However, it is ruined by the narrator who butchers every phrase. She seems to be reading it for the first time, pacing badly and stumbling often, her nose could frequently be heard whistling, and the pronunciation of certain words is just wrong (in a way that cannot be put down to accent) leading me to think she has no idea what they mean. Her voice also does not match up with the character the story is trying to build, making her seem meek and milk, rather than strong and ready to face the world.

You will fall in love with a dragon
Book 1- This one introduced a whole new world! I emphasize with the main character as I too have a bad leg! I can’t wait to see her overcome everything Book 2- this book gives us more questions than answers! But now I need to know what happens next so book 3 here I come! Book 3- this one is my favorite so far! More action, a bit of Romance and then you are hooked for book 4! Book 4- the more i listen to these books the more I love the dragons personality!! I enjoy the story line on this 1! Book 5- this one gives you more mystery and more want! I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Outstanding YA fantasy adventure.
‘Dragon School’ is outstanding YA fantasy adventure featuring Amel Leafbrought, a teenage girl beginning her career as a dragon rider.
Despite significant physical and social challenges, Amel demonstrates determination, integrity and resilience, presenting a really good role model for young people who often confront obstacles of one kind or another in achieving their goals. Her discovery of abilities that others do not have is a powerful element of Amel’s narrative, and serves as a strong encouragement for others who experience physical disabilities or limitations.
Amel's experiences of other people, whether peers, teachers or dragons, demonstrate important lessons about the importance of careful discernment about who should be trusted, and about the true nature of friendship.
This series is highly original and well constructed. The story progresses at a very good pace, with plenty of adventure balanced by reflection and the development of friendships and connections between characters. The imagery is colourful and detailed, the characters diverse and varied, and the complications and problems they face are compelling.
The world building is unique and interesting, featuring complex and thought-provoking social systems, detailed and thoughtful architecture, and geography quite unique to this world.
The narration by Jigisha Patel, is clear and fluent, with excellent diction and expression, although there are a couple of minor errors. Her use of voice and tone to develop character and deliver the narrative results in a compelling story that is as engaging and enjoyable as Wilson’s writing.
While there are more episodes to follow, this audiobook ends with sufficient resolution to satisfy the audience, and a tantalising promise of more adventure to come.

Young narrator but fantastic story
Hard to know who said what as narrator could have made different characters voices clearer.

I really enjoyed these 5 episodes. The narrator wasn't boring and tried to make the reading have light and shade
