Publisher's summary

What I thought would be the perfect murder, quickly turned into a beautiful disaster.

The mission is simple. Find my target. Gut her like a fish. In and out, and I'm home free. That's the plan, until an intense glare catches my attention. A few drinks and some harmless flirting with a handsome stranger changes everything. My target is his fiancee and that spells trouble for me.

Sebastian

I'm engaged to be married in 30 days. What could go wrong?

The Omen Club is the hottest in town, but nothing is hotter than the bombshell who walks in and steals my heart. She's sexy, mesmerizing, just the kind of woman I should stay away from, but I can't. By the time the night is over, I'm hooked, but there's a catch.

She's a dragon hunter, and my fiancee is her prey.

I can only have one, and she's standing right in front of me. Now what do I do?

Burn into this steamy dragon romance about a forbidden love, with HEA.

The Hunter and The Dragon

I had never read or listened to anything by this author before but the blurb for this story intrigued me so I downloaded the audio version of the book. I'm glad I did because it's a different type of shifter story, Rose the main character was also one it was easy to like although Sebastian was a character it took time for me to like.

Rose is a dragon hunter, her latest assignment was to kill Adele, the only child and heir of a powerful dragon family. Sebastian is one of the sons of another dragon family and marriage has been arranged between him and Adele, it's no love match, in fact, I don't think they even like each other. Sebastian's family own The Omen Club, which is a club only used by supernaturals. So it was somewhat surprising that Rose was able to gain entry into the club hoping to be able to carry out her assignment. Sebastian noticed her right away but despite being engaged arranged to rendezvous with her in his private office. But when he got close to her he noticed a tattoo on her neck, a tattoo exclusively worn by hunters of his kind. Fortunately Rose managed to avoid capture.

But once back safely with the Hunters, she is told by a man she has always believed was her Godfather that he and his wife found her as a baby, whilst hunting dragons, but it was where he found her which will change her way of thinking forever, he found her in a nest along with several dragon eggs! She's always been stronger and faster than her compatriots does this mean that she's a half shifter?

Rose is determined to carry out her mission, but Sebastian has now been tasked with killing Rose, but Rose has a proposition for him, one which if he agrees could help end the bitterness between his family and the hunters.

What followed was surprising and although this story is a complete standalone it does open the door to more stories based around Sebastian's family and The Omen Club.

I have given this story four stars because although I enjoyed it I would have liked a little more character development and a better understanding of why the hunters formed and why Sebastian's family were under the thumb of Adele's. This is maybe something we will learn in later books in the series - I for one want to listen to more.

I was given this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.
