Publisher's Summary

Behind the wheel, racing champion Zander Donavan is at the top of his game. But after too much excess in his personal life, he's forced to step away. He needs to accomplish something all on his own - outside of his famous father's shadow.

Getty Caster is running away from the abuse that clouds her past. She thinks she's found the perfect escape - until she discovers a stranger in the beachside cottage she was promised. He's undeniably sexy, but she's there to heal. Alone.

Before long, though, fighting with each other turns into fighting their attraction. And giving in to desire sets off a chain reaction that has their pasts colliding. With an unexpected love on the line, can they overcome the fallout to build a future?

Critic Reviews

"K. Bromberg makes you believe in the power of true love. As she tells it, with a little hard work, a little trust, a lot of faith, anything is possible. Down Shift made me a believer." (Audrey Carlan, New York Times best-selling author)

AN EXCELLENT BUILD TO A MOVING & TENDER LOVE STORY

Zander and Getty are two broken people who are forced to share the same house.. but, even though they each wanted to be left alone to heal and to purge the demons from their pasts, they slowly let the other in.. into their secrets, into their beds, into their lives.. and finally into their hearts.

Zander was a tortured soul.. damaged by his childhood and he's running from one tragic event that happened to him when he was 7 yrs old and Getty had run away from her controlling manipulative Father and an even worse ex. Somehow Zander, the gorgeous sexy Racecar Driver, had to tread carefully around Getty and Getty, the vulnerable yet determined Bartender, tried hard to fight the sexual attraction - attraction and feelings that she'd never felt before. Despite their rocky start.. they were there for one another, healed each other and found their HEA together.

This is a well paced emotion filled dual POV romance with sex, passion, heartache, humor, angst and drama along the way and it's got its share of touching, sweet and romantic scenes too. An awesome story and the great narration topped off this intense and addictive listen.

Worth a credit? K. Bromberg is a trusted Author for me and her books are always an auto download.. so YES creditworthy.

Blood, Band Aids, Scissors

Past: We meet Zander in book 1 of the Driven Series. As a child Zander was found next to his dead mother putting band aids on her trying to stop her bleeding. He was sent to the boys home ran by Riley. Zander liked race cars, so of course, Colton became his role model.

Present: Zander is now a professional race car driver working for Colton. Zander receives a box that contains items about his mother and it sends him into a downward spiral. He won't talk to anyone about what's bothering him. Colton tells Zander he's out-of-control and is fired from driving until he works out his issues. Zander makes a deal with his friend, Smitty, to stay at his cabin for a few months and complete renovations in exchange for anonymity.

Getty is running from an abusive past. Her husband was mentally abusive and cheated on her. She was able to divorce him without his signature and now wants to start a new life. A friend of Getty's, Darcey, told Getty she can stay in the cabin.

Getty comes home from work and undresses to get in the shower but much to her surprise there's a man in the shower. So the first time they meet their both naked in the bathroom. This is their story...

I really enjoyed this story and have already listened to it a few times. It was fun to catch up with Colton and Riley; and to find out how Zander's life turned out.

This book can be a stand alone but Driven is a really good trilogy you're missing out on.

K. Bromberg is a very talented writer. I adore her Driven Trilogy and Zander's story.

Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell gave an entertaining performance. They are two of my favorite performers.

Absolutely worth the credit/$$.

another great book in this series!

I really liked this very sweet love story. not a whole lot of drama but enough to add interest. too bad there aren't a whole lot of Coltons and Zanders out in the real world! I thought the narrators did a good job but I've listened to quite a few with Joe Arden, always good. Love K Bromberg. I'll be watching for more. I really appreciated the length of the book. A little more bang for my credit!

LOVED IT!

Master story telling once again!
I loved the story of Zane & Gettie im an island setting . The SEX had a perfect build up of anticipation & happily not done to death which allowed the story to be most important . This story helps us understand what some people have to go through and what it takes to heal in the end. Thank you.

Diamond in the rough

Zander is spiraling out of control and is forced to step away from the spotlight to reassess his situation. Getty is looking for a new start. By some coincidence they both end up sharing the same space to deal with their own personal struggles. As it turns out they are exactly what they both need to exorcise their demons and come out on the other side with a new outlook. Getty appreciates the simple things and Zander knows just how fortunate he is to have the love of his family. The icing on the cake is the love they now have for each other.

A Story Of All Stories!! Awesome!

I recommend this book to all readers!
This is by far the best read for me so far in 2019. K. Bromberg Downshift is an amazing read. All credit to you.
This story is of two very damaged people finding and repairing both themselves and each other. It is a powerful, emotional and sensitive story, with very strong characters.
I want to write so much more in praise of this book, but I would spoil it for others and I don't want to do that.
I loved this book from the moment it started playing. I found it a truly outstanding story. It was a pleasure to listen to!
