Publisher's summary

When Brighton Longfield discovers her treasured protection amulet is missing, she finds a note in its place from Langoria Skeenbauer telling her that Tuttlesmiths are not welcome in Coventry.

Brighton confronts the woman in the town square with a crowd of Coventry's residents watching. Of course, Langoria Skeenbauer is one of the town's most upstanding citizens, so people assume she's innocent and Brighton is nuts. When Langoria is found dead in the cemetery across from Hangman's House, Brighton becomes a suspect.

Brighton is the one who discovers the body, and even Thorn is suspicious. But Brighton's not the only one in town who wanted Langoria dead - while Langoria was seen as a model citizen by many, she'd actually been cruel to many of the witches in Coventry who don't bear the Skeenbauer name. There are quite a few human residents who aren't a big fan either. To clear her name, Brighton's going to need to sweep away all of the lies and misunderstandings that surround the suspicious death.

With her best friend Annika and her familiar Meri on her side, she's prepared to do whatever it takes to catch the real murderer. She's desperate to clear her name and fix her relationship with Thorn, but will her quest lead her right into a killer's snare?

Another winner

Sara Bourgeois continues the storyline with more characters development. The story remains original. Rebecca Mitchell gives a wonderful performance as she gives life to the story. I only wish the stories were longer. And it’s on to book three.

Great second book

I enjoyed Bourgeois’s second book in the Witches of Coventry series. This round was packed full of adventures and high drama. The romance element has picked up and the stakes are getting higher. Can’t wait to read on to see how these characters develop.

It was ok

The overall book is good, but the culprits so far haven’t really gotten good explanations on why they killed the people they killed and some parts of the story feel rushed. I wish there were more details on why the culprits decided to kill.

No depth

Usually I am a sucker for witchy cozy mysteries, but there is just something about the writing style of this series I don’t like. The stories are short, and I think it is because they lack depth. The characters are flat. The story progresses in a way that doesn’t seem logical. The love triangle feels forced. I wanted to like it, but after two books in the series I think I am done.

Uhm?

Middle school, cringy “romance.” The protagonist is immature and annoying. She makes ridiculous comments about her “boyfriend” emphasis on boy. Scooby doo villain (and spoiler alert coming so stop reading if you don’t want it) anti-Christian.
