Publisher's Summary

The chips are down in Scumble River.

School psychologist Skye Denison-Boyd had hoped that her maternity leave would be at least a little relaxing, but when she and her husband, Wally, meet with the priest to discuss their newborn twins' christening, an explosion at the nearby bowling alley rocks the rectory. And although the business was closed at the time of the blast, there's a body inside.

As police chief, Wally is inevitably drawn into the investigation, which seems to indicate that foul play is afoot again in Scumble River, and Skye can't help but do a bit of her own sleuthing. But the clues come fast and furious, ranging from an odd new stranger in town to animosity toward the gambling machines that had recently been installed at the bowling alley, and Skye finds herself wondering if this could be the puzzle that stumps her for good.

Great series, but...

I have been reading this series for years, and I guess I never noticed just how much gooey love stuff is in it. I think hearing it read out loud makes it more noticeable. The hubby/wife lovefest is a bit too much.

Not as good as the first

i enjoyed the first in the series. This one had issues, people and scenarios so absurd I couldn't wait for it to be over. The Good Fairy? Really? Way too many oddball in such a small town and in no world would a mother of twins be doing all she did 5 weeks after giving birth. I just needed a modicum of reality and sadly it didn't exist in this one.

Great light cozy mystery series!

I enjoy this series. It is light and feels like a visit with good friends I have not caught up with in a long time. I like that the characters profess in their lives throughout the series. I will continue to return to Scumble River

5 STARS

Denise Swanson does a great job reinventing this series. The character and plot are fresh and entertaining. The mystery is plausible with twists and turns. I love this series and look forward to another book.

Is their no quality control on these readers???

High-zner??? I haven't read the book, but I'd bet it was more like Hizzoner, meaniing a sarcastic colloquial way of saying "His Honor," better known as The Mayor. What did she think? After reading the mayor's name over and over, she comes to that and thinks his name is now High-zner??? Sheesh.

"Die Me a River" is classic great Denise Swanson (she never disappoints) -- recurring quirky characters for a memorable community, well-plotted, Thoroughly enjoyable!

However, when the narrator is poor, it spoils everything. Clearly, this narrator doesn't ask questions, even when she sees an unfamiliar word, or name. AND the "producers" are just as ignorant and don't care. Don't any of them have any respect for the author's work? If it's not Shakekspeare, it's too trivial to matter. I'm not sure what the mindset here, but it offends me.

Ok

Reasonably interesting book but far too much focus on babies and too little murder mystery
