A common trend

I love Ali Hazelwood’s work and style. I love the romantic style she does with the very intelligent nerdy people. What I don’t love is her caving to the general trend of adding more sex and more sex focus of whatever type to the romances. Her stories are interesting enough, good enough, that she shouldn’t feel the need for the cheap hit.
In the intro she says this is her favorite book she has written.
I hope in the future she doesn’t write in shades of gray.
I was disappointed.

Oh my God I am so all over the place about this book. It would have been a 5 star if it wasn't for the ending tbh.

I LOVED Lukas and Scarlett! I personally felt like I could feel their love through the pages despite what other reviewers have said. I love how their relationship evolved and their sex WAS good. (this was NOT the spiciest book I've read tho, it was spicy but it wasn't insane lol). I hate how Scarlett pushed him away despite having accepted her feelings a long time ago. I told my best friend, I quote "I am about to put an ice pick in Scarlett's eye."

I also wasn't overly offended by Lukas and Pen's relationship. Pen was entirely too clingy, but Lukas was just trying to be a good man, which he is. but at the end I was googling ways to put myself in a book so I could put Pen somewhere across the rainbow bridge. I appreciate her apology but if I was Scar I could never have forgiven her for ruining my gold moment OR my mans grand love confession.

The last chapter and epilogue left me craving more. I felt like I needed to see more of Lukas and Scar being HAPPY to be truly satisfied. I want to give this a 5 so badly. I was literally rolling around in my office chair, squealing, acting like a girl, but the last 5ish chapters really docked that point/half point.

This story was pretty good. Was my first from the author so I think I was pretty decent.. And the narration was amazing I love the accent 😍. It was a pretty good performance I think for that reason I enjoy the story.

3.5 stars ⭐️ I had high expectations about Deep End. I don't understand why it needed to be 500 pages. I liked Lukas and Scarlett, and their romance as it progressed. I liked their dynamic, but there ere characters that I really hated, because of reasons. I liked seeing the diving/swimming parts as well as the way she wrote the BDSM parts. I wanted Scarlett to hold Pen more accountable for her behavior. Basically, Pen and Scarlett's behavior was very frustrating.
