Publisher's Summary

Two mothers have lost their daughters - 17 years apart. Can Detective Calladine bring them justice?

A teenage girl’s body is found in the back of a car on the notorious Hobfield housing estate. No one had reported her missing, but she’s been dead for a week.

Meanwhile, an old jar is brought into the station. It was found carefully wrapped in a blanket, with a child’s pink hairclip. The jar contains ashes and bone fragments.

Seventeen years ago, Detective Tom Calladine had been part of a team investigating the disappearance of Jessica Wilkins. Her mother had taken her to Leesdon Park one summer afternoon. She went to get the child an ice cream, and when she returned her daughter was gone. Over the years there were no sightings, no witnesses - nothing. Will there finally be closure for this unsolved mystery?

And why was the girl found in the car killed, and why are her friends not telling the police the whole story?

Detectives Tom Calladine and Ruth Bayliss will unravel a web of lies and pain in this fast-moving and gripping crime mystery.

Wonderful...

I liked Tom Calladine much better in this book. I like that he can be more confused than loud and hateful, like he was in the last one.

This was about a sixteen-year-old girl that was murdered. A bully that was murdered, which made an entire apartment building happy. And a 17-year-old cold case that was very sad and surprising.

Believe or not Calladine didn’t have a girlfriend in this book. BUT he did meet his new neighbor so I’m sure that’ll be in the next book.

No romance and no swearing.

As to the narration: Love, love, love Jonathan Keeble. He does such a great job on the voices and his reading emotions. He also read the 14 DCI Ryan books by LJ Ross and he’s just as good in all those.

GREAT!

This must be my favorite mystery writer, and favorite narrator for Ms. Durrant's mysteries. I hope she'll write more in this, or other, series, and also hope that Audible will have Mr. Keeble narrate them.

Can’t fault the twists and

All the new turns. Getting more interesting again and new faces cannot be bad to add to the suspense. And finally some humour and wit returned which I’m sure is essential to survive in the environment they live in and the crimes they face.

Another fantastic book

Really like how the main characters have developed. Lots of twists and turns but I thought there was a lot of unanswered questions about Ricky and Sean. Still highly recommend and now on to the next book

Great northern English entertainment

I haven't checked but both narrator and author have to be northern English. Being so myself I have loved this series from the very first book. I seems to in kow some nostalgic memories of home comforts. Jonathan
