Publisher's summary

After barely surviving an onslaught of elves and Templars and assorted monsters—not to mention the devilish machinations of an old god—Gabe and his friends had hoped for some time to recover. But when an overwhelming threat shows up on their doorstep far ahead of schedule, they quickly discover that time is yet one more force stacked against them. Along with practically everything else.

So together with old friends and new, Gabe searches desperately for more allies to form an unprecedented coalition to stand against the coming End—all the while being careful not to mention that it’s at least partially his fault.

But even Gabe’s rock-bottom expectations are thwarted when the shaky path he envisions for their future suddenly crumbles beneath him, and he’s taken on a wild ride far from home...straight into the grasping claws of his own nightmares.

Dawn Razed is the fourth book in the Ethereal Earth series, an ongoing saga about identity and imagination...and how dangerous it is to have one without the other.

Best of the series

The fourth book really a lot of fun. Great characters that by book 4 become a part of you.
I like the writer and his humility. You get a sense that this was his passion a he pursued it. His vocal range is amazing for someone who must be new at narration.
Great series with wonderful characters. Look forward to the next book.

These never disappoint!

I have nothing to add. This series has been one hit after another for me and just gets everything...right. What I want say that the author taking a step back to revise is incredibly admirable. Wish more writers were able to do that nowadays.

Great story

This story is a story within a story and both are good. The main story is fun and light but sitting on the edge kind of more. It’s the book you don’t want to put down. The second story line is more therapeutic but in an honest open and fresh way and makes you think or reflect at moments.
Together they make a great book. Can’t wait for the next one!

Great Series

This is one of the best Urban Fantasy meets Mythology series out there. It has outstanding world building, a fresh take on magic while not being so convoluted that it’s hard to understand.

Action packed adventure. Best of the series yet!

Fantastic book 4 in the Ethereal Earth series. So much action and adventure with epic battles, cosmic level introspection and consequences. A variety of interesting beings with various levels of powers (ancient and new beings) and all kinds of trouble. This story has a deep, dark and entertaining plot with lovable characters, tons of mysteries all with the fate of existence at stake. Sure, no big deal for Gabe, Heather and friends… Right? RECOMMENDED!

Enjoyable story, narration gets over dramatic

I had already read the books before listening to the audio books, and I do really like the books. However, as the books have gone on, the narrator seems to be leaning into the dramatic tone and angst, which is honestly just distracting.

Always a must read!

I don't often leave reviews because I feel like I am a visitor among the fan base of the good authors I've run across. Josh however seems to write every book specifically for you and he even thanks you each and every time.

Pros:

The best thing about his writings for me is the interactions between the characters and how 3d their conversations make them feel. I normally dislike the love interests of main character's because it often feels so forced. It's almost like an author writes a great book then has to take a generic love story and jam it into random spots of their story so that the God of editors would bless them. The bond (pun intended) between this MC and his Boo-Thang is so natural I find myself grinning instead of gaging when they show affection for each other.

The magic system is so well laid out and paced that the main character's senility to do things others can't doesn't seems to have happened naturally through the narrative so you feel like your growing with him as each book comes along.

The narration is ridiculously good especially knowing that it is the author narrating his own work that let's me know I'm hearing what the character's were intended to sound like.

Cons:

I really don't have any complaints about this book. I do wish that the poem about the Endless Dark from the previous book, Short Changed was included. If you have not read that book it is very much worth it! it changed my perspective on how the Umbras viewed the Endless Dark. I believe my first audio book review was of short changed and this would be my second review. Keep up the amazing work, Josh, and hurry with the next book!!!

Another amazing entry in this series

I cannot state enough how awesome this series is from every angle. The characters, the world building, the stories, the interwoven zeitgeist of myths and legends, and, in this audible format, the amazing voices and personalities for every, single, character. I don't even know how he keeps them all straight, let along distinctive enough to be recognizable.

If you are seeing this review because this popped up in your feed or is on some sale, do yourself a favor and get it. Then get all the others. seriously. Just let yourself sink into the world he has pulled together and enjoy the journey.

It is well worth it.
