Publisher's Summary

Ever since he became a Christian at the age of 40, it has been Poirot actor David Suchet's dream to make an audio recording of the Bible. In between filming the final episodes of Poirot, David Suchet spent over 200 hours in the recording studio to create the very first full-length audio version of the NIV Bible spoken by a single British actor. This Old Testament edition is excerpted from that Bible.

This audio Bible is also available as an app. The app contains the full text of the New International Version (British Text), so you can easily navigate the audio or read and listen at the same time.

Excellent Performance!

As the owner of several versions and renditions of the Bible in audio format, I must say that this rendition of the NIV by David Suchet is by far the best to which I have listened. Lest I be misunderstood, I'm not just referring to an ex excellent performance. - which it certainly is - but rather the way in which this rendition "grabs" me every time I listen to it. The way in which the Bible is read speaks to my heart in a way no other audio performance has managed to do. Never before have I been able to listen to the Bible for hours at a time. I just cannot get enough of the Word in this version. As a result of result, I'm constantly noticing things I've never picked up before. This is definitely not for anyone looking for a quick sound byte or a verse or two a day. I cannot recommend this audiobook and its narrator more highly!

Wonderful, except for navigation

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, it is told beautifully by David Suchet and helps when listen to while reading along with the actual book, especially for scholars, as it brings the story to life and helps with retention.

Who was your favorite character and why?

N/A

What about David Suchet’s performance did you like?

Beautifully read, easy to understand, and not overly dramatic

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Heavens no.

Any additional comments?

Navigating is terrible. There is no easy way to find a specific book, chapter, or verse to jump to.

Best Bible version I've heard

I own 7 or 8 different versions of narrated Bibles and I this is the best I've heard. David Suchet put his heart and soul into this narration! This truly is a joy to listen to. His voice is very soothing and I often find myself listening to this in the evening before bed. I think he has done a marvelous job with this! I do understand that it is hard to navigate the audio but his narration is so superb I just could not knock it down a star for that. The passion he conveys for the Word of God surpasses any other narrator I've heard. I did not hesitate to purchase the NT narration as well. Get this, you won't be disappointed!

No properly indexed table of contents

What disappointed you about Complete NIV Audio Bible?

There is no table of contents in the audio book identifying Books and their chapters. Finding a particular location can only be done via trial and error.

Once I found this out, I couldn't return the book. I feel the purchase is less than useful.

Would you recommend Complete NIV Audio Bible to your friends? Why or why not?

No. See comments above.

Love David Suchet's narration!

Love David Suchet's reading! Of course, love the story:) There is a problem with how this is labeled. It is only the OT, but I thought that may be the case from other comments. Also, the comment about finding your place... Yes! Would have been easier to navigate if divided into individual books, but each chapter is a chapter. I like that. I am bookmarking and making notes to myself as I go, so I will know where the different books begin. Too happy to get this to complain! It used to only be available in UK! Thanks, Audible for making this available to US:)

This is not the "complete" bible and not a good layout

I got this audio bible because a previous "listeners bible" was not laid out in a easily navigated format, the book titles were not listed and you could not jump to a book by name. Well this bible must have been done by the same people because it's laid out the same way and incomplete to boot. I like the person reading it but it just does not make sense how it's organised. I'm really disappointed with this version of the "complete" bible cause it ain't ! Please fix this.

A good choice

An accessible translation, read by an outstanding actor with an expressive, mellow voice. My one objection is that the file breaks sometimes come in the middle of a book.

Title Isn't Advertised Correctly

Any additional comments?

David Suchet narrates the Old Testament perfectly. However, this title was advertised as "The Complete NIV Audio Bible Unabridged" and clearly as it is only the Old Testament it is not in fact the Complete NIV Bible this I now have to go and purchase the New Testament separately. I'm not happy about the false advertising.

Winnie the Pooh is far more believable.

Flash Gordon makes more sense with a seamless storyline compared to this driveling nonsense.
