Fantastic Listen

This audiobook is great for listening. This isn't a study tool. It is relaxing and "comforting" to listen to. I like the hymns played in the background, they are very appropriate for James Earl Jones deep voice. I enjoy listening to it when I need to unwind or relax.

"Darth Vader" narrates the New Testament

JEJ reads the NT with a soft and deep baritone voice that does not grow tiring as other narrators. One of my favorites. I originally purchased this long ago in CD version, but it had annoying piano music playing in the background. It made the narration practically unusable. I'm sooooo happy that the publisher remastered this to remove the music! Now it is a real treasure. JEJ's tranquil tone mesmerizes. I do like the KJV for listening. This translation elevates the language, evoking a memorable cadence. There are a few voice patches one can discern. It's noticeable but not really an annoyance.

an amazing voice for the best book ever

The title says it all. His voice is so soothing and smooth. I've read the Bible over and over. Believing comes with hearing the Word.

Not the full bible

Please pay attention as this is only the New Testament and not the full bible. Disappointing because James Earl Jones does a great job narrating but I was looking for the entire bible

wish it had actual Bible chapters and verses

it should of had actual chapters and verses to go by so you can skip to what you want to look up in the Bible as the Bible is written

Speed is adjustable for the reading. .70 is good

I did not realize that James Earl Jones only reads the new testament until after I purchased it. It would be best if the title had this clearly stated. For this, I am dinging my review by one star. It would be nice to hear JEJ read the old testament also one day. James Earl Jones is a national treasure and quite a pleasure to hear. I agree with the other reviewers that the audible distribution set the native speed faster that what sounds natural. Users can slow down the speed from the main page. For my ears, I set a speed of .70. Now, it sounds natural and much more enjoyable.

Not going to bother taking about the content. It's the Bible, make of it what you like.

The only problem I had with the narration was the Gospel of Luke - every time he said "Luke" I expected to hear...

"I am your father..."

Wonderful voice, have to remind me it's not Darth Vader (kidding). But his rich voice, excellent!
