Publisher's Summary

The author of the bestselling NUMA and Dirk Pitt series returns with a novel of adventure and intrigue featuring his unbeatable hero of the high seas: Juan Cabrillo.

Cabrillo and his motley crew aboard the clandestine spy ship Oregon have made a very comfortable and very dangerous living working for high-powered Western interests. But their newest clients have come from the Far East to ask for Cabrillo's special brand of assistance. They're a consortium of Japanese shipping magnates whose fortunes are being threatened by brutal pirates trolling the waters of Southeast Asia.Normally, such attacks on the high seas are limited to smaller ships and foreign-owned yachts-easy targets on the open ocean. Now, however, giant commercial freighters are disappearing. But when Cabrillo confronts the enemy, he learns that the pirates' predations hide a deadly international conspiracy-a scheme of death and slavery that Juan Cabrillo is going to blow out of the water.

Dark Watch

This is another story about the ship Oregon and crew. Covers pirates to human trafficking to banking. Fast pace and lots of action. Tom Wopat did a good job reading the story. The only downside to the book was that is was abridged. They did a good job with the abridgment as I could keep track from one action and problem to the next. Book was not long enough but good for a short book between longer or more complicated books. Worth the read.

Anti-Christian

You don't realize it is an anti-Christian series until deeper into the second of three books.

great story

great book just didn't like the language and really didn't want to hear Gods name and Jesus' name used in vain. the story was definitely good enough by itself without God's name being used in vain love the story keep up the good work awesome narrator on this one ranks right up there with Scott Brick

Great Story Line

This one seems shorter than the others I have listened to but the story is quite good. Narration is average.

Don't buy abridged version

What disappointed you about Dark Watch?

Poor abridged version. I've read the book, perhaps that is the problem. Much of the action and needed relationship building moments were removed. Good book, good reader. Save your credits, go unabridged!

What about Tom Wopat’s performance did you like?

could have been good.

though im a huge clive cussler fan, getting Tom Wopat to act out the book was a horrible choice. I like Tom as a tv actor. But, he's no Scott Brick when it comes to reading a book. For the most part I couldn't get involved in the book because he was just reading using very little voice characterization. the female part was terrible. like I said. I like Tom and though good for tv only. I wish I could get my money back because it wasn't worth it. Sorry Clive I'm huge fan of yours. But, not the best choice.

Great read, suspense and action

This is one of Chrysler's shortest books, but it chucked full with action, suspense, and even a side of love. If you loved Golden Buddha you will love this one as well.

missing parts of the story

Two missing parts that I noticed. I first read this book a few years ago. the first part missing is the rescue of Tory from the research ship Avalon. the second was the battle between the Oregon and the guards at the ship breaking yard. Without those two parts the story loses a lot of substance.

Abridged version was a disappointment

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

I will not buy any more abridged books. I have read many books by this author and have enjoyed them all.
