Now on Netflix as The Call to Courage

Every time we are introduced to someone new, try to be creative, or start a difficult conversation, we take a risk. We feel uncertain and exposed. We feel vulnerable. Most of us try to fight those feelings - we strive to appear perfect.

In a powerful new vision Dr Brené Brown challenges everything we think we know about vulnerability, and dispels the widely accepted myth that it's a weakness. She argues that, in truth, vulnerability is strength and when we shut ourselves off from vulnerability - fromrevealing our true selves - we distance ourselves from the experiences that bring purpose and meaning to our lives.

Daring Greatly is the culmination of 12 years of groundbreaking social research, across every area of our lives including home, relationships, work, and parenting. It is an invitation to be courageous; to show up and let ourselves be seen, even when there are no guarantees.

This is vulnerability. This is daring greatly.

A great comfort

This book is a great comfort and tool to help me survive going deaf. It has given me words that help explain and understand what I'm dealing with every day in a hearing world in my sudden unwanted isolation a loss of quality of life.

Wonderful

I really enjoyed how this covered numerous facets of life and how it applies. Definitely a book I will be referencing throughout the different stages of my life, depending the role that I’m in that needs a reminder to dare greatly.

Necessary mirrors

Brené Brown is such a brilliant writer and researcher. I needed this book to kind of teach me how to be vulnerable, instead it held a mirror that is so necessary for me to see myself through. I’ve learned a lot about how to practice vulnerability but most importantly, how the lack of vulnerability is actually ruining the quality of my life, marriage and other relationships. This book will be my yearly read! I need the reminders and the teachings now more than ever.

Addresses painfully important issues

My favourite section is about parenting because it can prevent a bunch of the issues that we have at the education and society culture level. Although at times can get a bit too dramatic in tone for my taste — the subject is dramatic in and of itself — it’s still well worth a read/listen or three.

This ending quote left me hopeful: “Who we are and how we engage with the world are much stronger predictors of how our children will do than what we know about parenting.”

Thought provoking..

It took me a while to grasp fully the concept of #Vulnerability. To me, this book is insanely thought-provoking. I'm convinced #Vulnerability is a much-needed value we need to embrace more than ever when we are bombarded every single day with pandemic uncertainties.

I struggle with my own vulnerability and its time to 'daring greatly'...
