A burning obsession, a rejected proposal, and a desperate Darcy.

After Lizzy rejects Darcy’s proposal at Hunsford, he can’t accept it. He’s lost everyone in the world who matters to him, and he can’t allow Lizzy to slip away, too. In desperation, he kidnaps her with the intent of taking her to Gretna Green before an extended stay at the familial castle. Lizzy refuses his offer of marriage again, leaving him to enact a more desperate plan.

Locked in the Scottish castle with Darcy, a man driven by demons and possessed by melancholia, Lizzy fights to deny the pull he exerts and her own passionate nature. Darcy sets about unlocking her inhibitions, but can she ever risk letting him win her heart?

While Abbey sometimes writes sweet JAFF, this is strictly sensual. Please be advised it has a darker tone than Abbey’s other works.

I want to give as fair of a review as possible.

You are either someone who will like this book, or you’re not. There’s kind of no in between. This book was created to get a persons rocks off, and quite frankly, I see nothing wrong with that, but the content will be very disturbing to A LOT of people.

Look at it this way; how many types of porn do we have at our fingertips? Step-mom, babysitter, bondage, lesbian, BBW, you name it, it exists! One category is (Trigger Warning) rape and abduction fantasies.

(More triggers) It is not my place to judge, so if you are a person who enjoys the idea of being fully dominated by a man, and forced to passionately make love to him, until you develop stockholm syndrome, submit to his love, and supposedly both your dark inner desires. Then this is your book.

You could also be someone like me, who does not seek out those kinds of fantasies, never has, and never will, but you and your husband are trying to conceive, and nothing gets your engines going like a good Elizabeth and Fitzwilliam passionate love making session. Darcy is very passionate, domineering, and possessive of Elizabeth, and the idea of him being so consumed by grief and love, he’s driven mad! ...Wasn’t that far of a stretch, and it is a very hot and steamy story.

However, this book needed far more character development. Abbey North likes to breeze past the story at major points, and then clump the characters, and the story arch together, and summarize it in two sentences. What? How? The characters and story, needed to be developed more.

Feminists beware, this Elizabeth is lacking, and there’s no girl power here, this isn’t the place, (Trigger) this is a rape fantasy book. The End.

Megan Green is incredible, I adore all her work. I love her voices.

Triggers Warnings- I will speak of rape and abduction.

I have read the book and I go back and forth on how I feel about it. Yes, Darcy abducts and forces Elizabeth. It is clear that Darcy has mental health issues. He has lost to death the two most important people left to him. He latches on to Elizabeth, quite literally. I don’t think Elizabeth suffers from Stockholm Syndrome. She is pretty angry at first but I don’t believe that Darcy could make her feel something physically or emotionally that she wasn’t already inclined to feel. When she calms down, she begins to see Darcy more clearly and recognizes how damaged he is.
Ms North had the makings of a really interesting book. How does one deal with mental illness, especially during the Regency? She could have gone in a slightly different direction and headed off the criticism she received on this book. I happen to love the storyline and have read and listened to it several times. However, I find myself “filling in the blanks” because Ms North was more interested in the sex than she was the story.
I didn’t much care for the narrator.

Should be Fifty shades darker. I couldn’t imagine putting Darcy in such dark place. So it really can’t be a P &P variation. The characters don’t fit

Title should be DARCY DOES DARKER

I didn’t know what I was getting into with this one. I only listened through to the end so that I could leave an honest review. Darcy abducts and rapes Lizzy. It’s as simple as that. At one point, Lizzy even blames herSelf for liking it. Does that sound like an accurate or acceptable description of ODC? Awful.

“Dark” appears to be a code word for “rape.”
