Essential CISM has been written with a single goal in mind - to present the CISM material in a way that is easy to absorb without leaving any content behind. Plenty of examples are included to drive the points home so that when it comes time to take the CISM exam, you are ready! The book is broken down into two sections. Section 1 covers basic concepts you will need to understand before hitting each domain. The CISM official exam guide is redundant across the domains, and so in this book you will encounter each topic once instead of having to rehash the same subject in different ways.

Publisher's Summary
An essential book for the modern technology driven organization narrated by the author
Authored by the only cybersecurity and healthcare IT leader in the world with 12 years' experience as Chief Information Officer, a Doctor of Science in the field, and the prestigious CISSP, PMP, and CPHIMS certifications.
Managing cybersecurity requires a multi-disciplinary holistic business approach. Many of the current cybersecurity approaches in organizations and most books are based on an outdated 1991 model of cybersecurity - focused solely on technology solutions. This book provides the 2014 model and shows why leadership engagement of people within an organization is critical for success. Culture development through leadership is essential because culture governs behavior. Apply the time tested principles explained in this book for success in any organization.
Today cybersecurity strategy is the same as information technology strategy. Cybersecurity drives the mission of the modern organization. Done right it can be a hallmark of distinction and a source of productivity and innovation in an organization. Failure to lead cybersecurity can easily lead to business failure. This book is an essential read for CIOs, CISOs, or any organizational business leader or student who wishes to understand how to build successful organizations. No prior background in cybersecurity or technology is required to understand this book.
In addition to 30 years of real world experience implementing organizational cybersecurity strategy, the author teaches cybersecurity to graduate students and executives at several US National Centers of Academic Excellence. The author is an opinion writer and conference speaker on cybersecurity, healthcare and leadership issues and is frequently quoted and cited in the media.

CIOs and CISOs should read this book...
What made the experience of listening to Cybersecurity Leadership the most enjoyable?
"Cybersecurity Leadership" is a holistic approach and roadmap for leaders to ponder and to follow as they strive to build a world class organization and an effective cyber program. Most of the lessons parallel what I've done in practice while others stimulate and almost mandate a lively conversation.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Cybersecurity Leadership?
As I read the book, I had frequent flashbacks to my past experiences as the FBI CIO and as a Wall Street executive. The "Penguin Award" that I started at the FBI parallels the notion of inspiring calculated risk taking.

A fresh look at leadership for a changing world.
This is not simply a book advising on cyber security tactics or choosing technology controls. Dr. Hasib takes us deeper into what it means to be a leader and clears away many misconceptions between leadership and management. Additionally, as ethics and integrity directly impact an organization's level of risk these traits are a common theme throughout his book. I highly recommend Cybersecurity Leadership for anyone functioning in a leadership role.

Would you listen to Cybersecurity Leadership again? Why?
After many years in various executive roles ranging from CIO, CISO and Board Advisor I was absolutely impressed with the executive guidance and thought leadership of Mansur Hasib. I was truly amazed with the ideas, concepts, executive guidance, and mentorship of how to be a highly effective leader for the C-Suite. Mansur has a very brilliant mind, yet the type of leader that everyone aspires to be a “servitude” type of leader. Amazing value, like having a personal mentor!
Would you listen to Cybersecurity Leadership again? Why?
I would absolutely listen to Dr. Hasib's book again and would recommend it to anyone interested in improving their Information Technology leadership skills and foundational understanding on Information Assurance / Security principals.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Dr. Hasib does an excellent job at highlighting 30+ years of experience and key takeaways in about a 7 hour audio book. Also as the narrator, he articulates clearly and at a good pace to listen to on the radio while commuting.
Any additional comments?
Throughout this easy to understand story, Dr. Hasib shares a reflection on his real world experience, ethical decision making, and leadership principals with an overall cyber security focus. His teachings found in this title are applicable to organizations of any size and industry, but those interested in healthcare technology will get an extra treat!

Rich source of cybersecurity information!
Would you listen to Cybersecurity Leadership again? Why?
Mission focus management of the cybersecurity infrastructure derives from good leadership. A good cybersecurity program is a reflection of the organizations leadership capability. But how does one goes about building effective leadership? Dr. Hasib's book, talks about cybersecurity and provides examples on how good leadership brings about true cybersecurity within the organization. He further delves into the complicated task of how to provide leadership within the cybersecurity domain. Neither disciplines are for the faint of heart. To tackle them both in one book was definitely courageous.
Throughout the effort and within the entire book, there are lots of wonderful examples, personal and historical anecdotes and cite worthy references. I have definitely started to site from the book in my own Enterprise Architecture practice. If you are a new CIO or just landed a role as a leader with the cybersecurity portfolio, this is a must have audio book running in your iPhone or iPad. Personally I listened to the book on my way drive from home to work and back.
Finally, thank you Dr. Hasib for taking the effort to share your knowledge, stories from your life and career. I am confident the book will assist cybersecurity leaders for years to come.

Wide scope and informative
Many parts delved outside of the scope of cyber security. Related closely to the amygdala hijack and have seen this in action particularly where email is concerned. The final chapter spoke to me so directly that I felt Mansur was actually speaking to me. Recommend the book to other cyber security leads and C suite execs who are looking at incorporating the CSO capability into their organisation.

Perfectly Laid out and defines Leadership.
If you could sum up Cybersecurity Leadership in three words, what would they be?
Amazing,Thoughtful, Succinct
What other book might you compare Cybersecurity Leadership to and why?
I am not sure I could compare it to anything. I have not found a book that lays things out and encompasses how to look at Cyber Security from a leadership position.
What does Mansur Hasib bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
There is no doubt the emphasis Mansur puts on several aspects of this book that makes the impact. His accent is delightful and very easy to listen to. My mind never wandered while listening.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
The reaction I have had is to listen to it over and over. I am on my 6th time listening to it and I just keep picking up tidbits that improves my outlook on it.
Any additional comments?
This book is laid out in a way that each chapter is to the point and you know what the point is. Mansur's views of what C level leadership should embrace and how that structure looks was right on. I have experienced the wrong way to do it. If you can think like this book is laid out then you will be successful

A Primer for Cybersecurity
This book is well written. The diction, intonation, and speed of the reader makes it an easy and pleasant book to listen. Cybersecurity is clearly explained, where the book covers not only technical aspects for an IT audience but also for management/leadership audiences as well as for the cybersecurity professional in general. The roles of the CIO and the CISO are well defined as the author explains definitions based on personal experiences. The author includes comparisons of CIO/CISO functionality with other C-level positions. Of special interest is the emphasis the author makes on ‘doing the right thing’ for employees at all levels of an organization/institution by following good ethical practices. The author discusses cybersecurity best practices not only as it applies to industry (emphasis in healthcare) but also to all levels of academia. In addition, the author provides security guidance when selecting technical solutions for certain commonly used tools (i.e. video conferencing, open source, etc). I personally enjoyed listening to this book. I plan to listen to it again. This should be a primer for technical as well as non-technical audiences interested in cybersecurity.

Dr. Hasib presented a thoughtful and practical approach towards leadership within cybersecurity but also touches upon the importance of general leadership. His approach is refreshing and coupled with his knowledge and experience, he is a great resource and subject matter expert. He also covers cybersecurity within healthcare and its increasing interoperability challenges that attribute towards a cost-effective mindset, but the importance of security and safety. Framework for success in Cybersecurity
Dr. Hasib has written an excellent book outlining the growing field of cybersecurity and takes a new approach discussing the success factors within an organization. As a student, I am constantly looking for material that is engaging and informative. Coming from a business up-bringing, taking a heavily scientific program has me question whether the individuals teaching the materials are fit for their jobs. It is inspiring to finally read a book that speaks to the average person while conveying idea's just as well, if not better (as I tend to retain more information if it is presented well). This is an excellent read for any individual who wants to be in cybersecurity and wants to become a leader within the industry.

Excellent Informative Book
This is not a book to read or listen to once only. Anyone in leadership in organisations, whether private or public bodies, today would be well advised to read or listen to this book. In a world, whether leadership in cybersecurity is growing one will find this book a handy reference. Dr Mansur Hasib not only shares from his experience but also encourages everyone to realise they are leaders who have a responsibility for making a difference. I noted that Dr Hasib encourages every leader to appreciate diversity and inclusion throughout the whole cybersecurity operation of an organisation. His simplicity and willingness to help breakdown the different areas of cybersecurity have made it enjoyable for me to help my growth in cybersecurity. This is a book not just for CISOs but for the those who are beginning the journey of getting into this industry. It will help one understand the different areas that cybersecurity plays. Thank you Dr Hasib for being willing to help us become better leaders.
