Publisher's summary

If you just graduated PA school, or are about to, and want to learn how to rock your first year in medicine, keep listening!

Hey there! My name is Elio Stone, and it wasn’t that long ago that I was also graduating from PA school. All I knew then was I had to take the PANCE, and I really didn't have a clue what to do after that! I felt lost, confused, and scared, so I just jumped at the first job I found. Now, after 10 years of being a PA I have learned the ins and outs of the profession. I have put together this book of real-world PA wisdom in the hopes it will help new PAs succeed in not only that first year but for the remainder of their career! In this book, you will discover:

  • Which physicians to work with (and which ones to avoid)
  • How to turn your learning into even more earning
  • Who the different healthcare players are, and how to approach them
  • The easiest ways to find the right job
  • The secret to working well with Nursing
  • How to develop relationships that open up more lucrative doors
  • The single most important skill that makes you invaluable to your Physician
  • How to master the Physician-PA relationship
  • How to choose between a surgical or medical specialty
  • What to know about getting paid for call
  • How to deal with all the new money you’ll be making

I have personally witnessed countless PA colleagues go through all these same challenges, we all do! I have been practicing in Orthopedic Surgery for the last decade and have learned all these things the hard way. You don’t have to struggle as much as I did my first year, the easier way is found in the chapters of this book!

So if you want to make more money, avoid embarrassment, and dominate your first year as a new PA, then scroll up and click the “Buy Now” button!

Really helpful guide for this field !

It is a really helpful guide especially if you are new in this field. My Son will be a Physician assistant and I used to work in this industry too. Unfortunately, he doesn't really listen to me but I only want him to save time, energy, money, and stress when I give advice to him. Obviously, he will learn from his own mistakes and that is what I appreciate in this book the author shows his skills and teach you how to void mistakes which he has been through during those years. Everyone learns those things the hard way but if you want to work as a PA and learn good tips and advice this content will help you a lot for sure! It was a great gift to my son! Hope he will listen more to Elio's advice, definitely recommend it!

Great resource on starting in life

First, I love the voice. I could listen to this narrator all day. Good job. The content is a great resource for any starter. As an immigrant myself, I totally understand what it is like to have the bills pile up and rather than watch cash pile in my account, I watched it dwindle at an alarming rate. This book then is a handy resource on starting especially if you come from a place where things work differently. Good job.

A must have

I loved how he kept it real, shared his knowledge and his experience without making it “the only way” to do things. This book gives professional, personal, emotional and financial advice. As a future ACGNP who’s about to sit for her board, I have learned a lot. What I have taken from this book will help me shape my provider style, avoid conflict but stand my ground to my supervisor MD.

My favorite chapter is 7 because by listening I felt motivated, capable, knowing that I have a voice, a set of skills that will not sit well with many, but one that I have to embrace and improve every day. This was my homerun.

Other thing also worth mentioning is the well written style and easy to follow blueprint, it’s straight to the point without all the fluff. A must have for any PA, NP. Well done!!!

Guide to a successful PA

This book helped me a lot as I wanted to be a physical assistant. The book is very informative and helped me start my job with confidence. How the aurthor tells us to be focused on skills and not worry about money is very true. We should focus more on our skills. and helped me choose between medicine and surgery. Now I know what to choose and which I can do better. This is the best guide book for those who want to work in this field. This book makes it so easy to understand this field. I liked how energetic the narrator's voice is, which made this book more interesting.

Wise advice plus practical information

It is always a joy to listen to a book that is written by someone with personal experience of the topic. This book is particularly personal and this gives it a degree of authenticity and incredulity. The information presented is eye-opening for those who are deciding whether this is the career path for them, and mind-blowing for people like me - an occasional patient in a health institution.

I am particularly impacted by Chapter 6: Straight Talk. There is so much amazing information in this chapter, indeed in this book. The author explains vividly the “adventures” in the life of PA - I felt every bump in his road and shared in every moment of joy. He was not afraid to share his vulnerability, his failures, and disappointments and in this regard, he is well-positioned to guide you if you are new to this profession or if you are yet to decide. Beautiful narration too.

Strategic!

This audio book is an outcome of author's personal experiences he had to go through when he landed onto his first job as a physician's PA and had no idea what to do and how to do. Through his journey author has an amazing guide for all the upcoming PA's. I love when author mentioned that it's very essential to choose a doctor wisely as it helps build a healthy relationship and gives you a boost to grow and achieve more. The author focuses on providing a guide to earn more money through various ways and emphasizes on where to spend them. This audio book is a must read for PA's to be, you'll never ever get such generous guide!
