One Hell of a Ride!

I was not prepared for the fast-paced world that the author drives us into with “Crimson.” The main character has a lot of turmoil and it only gets worse for her. There are a lot of tough decisions and she keeps on moving. The descriptions of the world and all of the creatures were just great though. The battle of the sorcerers was one hell of a ride. Not just the finale, but the all of the story that revolved around them. The other main characters were well done and the comedy relief of one of them was welcome in a darker world. Would definitely recommend and think that people who love good fantasy will enjoy this story.

Glad my red hair stopped growing in years ago

I really enjoyed this book and the world we got in it. The story pushes you to truly think about what it is you want. And to think about the consequences that may come from your actions. Not to just run in blindly. Also encourages you to think on your own. Don't just blindly believe what you hear from others. I caught myself thinking a lot that, "This is what I be trying to tell people."and "See, I had a feeling that wasn't true".

Come to think of it, maybe I was secretly developing powers when my red hair was starting to grow back. Wish I had this book back then, lol.

Also, great narration from Mare Trevathan.

Interesting story but didn't live up to potential

The book had an interesting plot line and I was quite fascinated with it in the beginning. I feel like the last bit of the book was a little scattered and things happened very quickly. It was more violent than I would have liked.

I loved this sto

The story was well written. A little strange but it had great characters. A story with lots of magic & mythical creatures. I was happy to see that Marcus survived.

I thought the Narrator did a great job adding emotion to all the voices. I would definitely listen to this Narrator again l liked the way she made me know & understand fen's thoughts and actionsl

wonderful YA fantasy

I really liked this audiobook. Sometimes you get tired of series and just want a good stand-alone story, Although the author could continue with a sequel or prequel if desired, there's enough here to satisfy readers/listeners who don't want to wait for or commit to a series.

There is some violence in the story, but the focus is really on the heroine who has a noble heart and is willing to endure sacrifices for those she loves. The only reason why I deducted a star was because one of the main characters (a companion of the heroine) who I couldn't quite figure out. He was a major character for the first half of the story, a lesser character for the second half of the story, and and enigma all the way through.

The narration was absolutely wonderful - M. Trevathan's voices were compelling and interesting. She's more than a narrator, she's a story-teller. A perfect choice for a fantasy story with a young female protagonist.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Engaging World Building

I found this book to be more entertaining and intriguing from the very beginning (compared to another I picked up at the same time.)

The characters were a bit clique but it worked for the story. It was more telling in lieu of showing, but it could be the audience it was targeting.

The narrator was equally delightful.

Crimson

I have read the dragon assassin series by the same author and enjoyed them alot so I thought I would give this book ago. This is different from the other series in a world that is ruled and magic is strictly only allowed by certain people. I wasn't sure what to expect or what creatures/beings would be in the story. It took a little to get use to the voice for audiobook to start with but the story grabs you and I enjoyed listening to it 🙂.
