Engaging Short Story with Laughs

This was a delightful read! I enjoyed the interactions between the characters, and there were plenty of funny moments that made me smile. The ending was thrilling and left me satisfied. The story was the perfect length, with just enough character development to make me care about the outcome. Amber Benson did a fantastic job narrating—I’m excited to listen to more of her work in the future. Overall this is a charming and engaging short story!

I sure do love me some Scalzi. This Novella was such a fun and rewarding listen. I really loved how everything comes together. I honestly loved it, and am hoping for more!

Great little story and performed extremely well. Honestly I could see this being the basis for a chill book series or for an episodic show. It’s awesome to see a writer create several interesting characters that I’d actually want to get to know more in such a short story.

I need more!

This was masterful! As a former civil servant a lot of this resonated with me...and reminded me of why I got out of public service Lol. I absolutely adored this story and found myself loudly laughing at majority of it (to the confusion of other drivers passing me in traffic, and one Chick-fil-A worker). Honestly, I need this to be a series. How do we convince John Scalzi to write more adventures with these characters? Especially at the "can I touch your hair lines". As a Black woman who frequently sports a large afro or puffs, those scenes alone had me doubled over in laughter. I love your sense of humor John! Keep it coming my dear.

Hilarious and over the top

This is what make Scalzi the funniest SF writer alive. Space Opera on the ground (and under ground and underwater), with humor that if it does not make you smile, your soul is dead.

This author never misses! I’m a fan of everything of his I’ve read and this story is absolutely up to par! I hope this is just the first of many stories from the third district!
