review of preformance only, my own opinion
I'm sorry, but the finality the narrator uses each time he says 'Jefferson(or any other name) said' bugs the jeebs off me! I love Scalzi so much, but this story, I will have to consume in written form. I only got about five minutes in before my toes were so curled I had to stop for risk of injury...I remember nothing but a cork and that darn Jefferson...

A perfect short story.
As usual, John Scalzi has delivered a story with several levels of meaning. The twist at the end is unexpected, but makes total sense. Me. Scalzi is a master craftsman.

Said, Said, Said, Said, Said, Said, Said, Said!
I've listened to quite a few Scalzi books, and his Interdependency series is one of my favorite book series so far. So, why, please tell me why, he ended every single sentence with "he said" "she said" or "NAME said"
This was a 47 minute novella that took me several hours to finish. I had to keep taking breaks because all the times he used the word "said." It was grating. All that being said, it was a decent enough story, if you're ok with hearing "said" said over 9000 times in 47 minutes. The narrator did a pretty good job. Now, I still haven't said "said" in my title or review nearly as many times as Scalzi said "said" in one chapter of this book.

Enjoyable, but extremely short
I'm a fan of Scalzi books, and this one is no different. A highly enjoyable short story of an extremely unrealistic "what if" scenario.
Also, I suspect this book being written in the Trump presidency is not a coincidence.
