There will come a day when love will mark you as a traitor. In a society where emotions are nothing and function is everything, Avlyn Lark is just trying to blend in. She's lucky to be alive, unlike her twin brother Ben who died when they were four. And she's lucky to have been taken from her biological parents and assigned to a Level Two family. But mastering her emotions? That's a problem, especially when a rebel bomb blows up a building right in front of her. Then on Configuration Day, Avlyn's official transition to adulthood, she starts seeing strange visions. And instead of being placed with a low-level tech company where she could hide away, she's hired by Genesis Technologies, the government firm that monitors every citizen. Now, instead of blending in, Avlyn fears she'll be exposed for what she really is.

Publisher's Summary
It's one thing to Qualify...but do you have what it takes to Compete?
With Earth about to be destroyed by an extinction level asteroid, teenage nerd, geek, and awkward smart girl Gwen Lark, barely Qualified for rescue onboard one of the thousands of ark-ships headed to the ancient colony planet Atlantis.
Now faced with a year-long journey in space, life in a wondrously alien environment, and many tough life choices, Gwen must decide who or what she will become. Fleet Cadet or Civilian? Friend or lover? Average or extraordinary?
Can she make new friends? Can she trust the old ones, such as Logan Sangre, her sexy high school crush and an Earth special operative?
Time and time again, Gwen's uncanny ability to come up with the best answer in a crisis saves her life and others. And now, her unique Logos voice makes her an extremely valuable commodity to the Atlanteans - so much so that her enigmatic commanding officer Aeson Kassiopei, who is also the Imperial Prince of Atlantis, has taken an increasingly personal interest in her.
Before the end of the journey, Gwen must convince him that she has what it takes to compete in the deadly Games of the Atlantis Grail.

the jump... omg! Even after having already read this book the ending got me once again! I'm going to have to proceed onto Win (again), since I can't take the anticipation, I'll just have to read it once more! I'll probably listen to the audiobook as well as soon as it releases end of January because I am truely enjoying this narrator since she brings the story alive so beautifully! Keep the amazingness coming Vera!

Strinks of Self-Insert
After coming off the first book in the series: "qualify" with a vague sense of Gwen being a Mary sue who doesn't have the typical annoying traits of Mary sue character, that sense of hope was shattered in this book. Gwen turns out to be a shallow person and the ending was telegraphed from the very first book. Possibly the best scene was Logan telling Gwen off for the way she was treating him. It as refreshing. Sadly I liked Logan and Kas is simply emotional abusive and Gwen accepts this and turns into a quiver pile of flesh anytime he's around. Yeah okay I was willing to cut Gwen some slack because she was a teenager but not after the way the first book ended The fact that she falls in for another guy, simply because he's got a "hot body" At this point I started to think that Gwen was the alter-ego of the author who has been relating her daydreams rather then an interesting idea for an S-F that's a Y/A book. By the end of the first book I didn't really like any atlantian characters and at the end of this book I actively loath Kas. I'll read the third book but I'm not sure how much Gwen-goop I can stomach and I doubt I'll continue on after "Win"

Normal teen Romance Novel
This is a classic teen romance novel with a back drop of SyFi elements. The story is predictable and is straight forward. The first book had a combination of romance and a objective the character has to do. This book gives the character nothing to do with an objective in mind but is just a side note to what the Author really wants to write a normal classic teen love story done a million times over again by other writers. The book is not bad but could use a little something more to improve overall quality.

Excellent read!
I loved this book even better than book 1, however, one thing that bothers me from both book 1 and book 2 so far is the unnecessary and unexplained (for the most part) poor attitudes of so many characters towards Gwen. Some have improved somewhat and I obviously have more to read, but I really don't see the point of the excessive abrasiveness so many characters project. Other than that, I can't wait to continue on the journey!

Excellent book, only slightly diminished by narrat
narrator was a little tough - so unemotional, uninflectioned most of the time, felt a bit like Ben Stein without the comedy. Otherwise, clear pronunciation and good job with all the different voices in different accents (tough!), and a truly amazing story!

Awesome story continues!
This second audiobook in this series was very entertaining! I loved the building love story between Gwen and Cass. The evil Imperator is reminiscent of Darth Vader level evil and makes an exciting adversary. Gwen learns a secret that’s being withheld from people on both Atlantis and Earth, which greatly troubles both Gwen and Cass. The competition in this book is brutally exciting and keeps you glued to listening. You MUST listen to these books in order, or you won’t understand the story at all. Narration was just excellent! Getting ready to listen to book 3, WIN!

amazing
review for the series of books. absolutely amazing a cross between hunger games, divergent series and..... stargate. read really well. There are many complicated names and some "could be dull" scientific explanations but I was kept engaged and on the end of my seat throughout the whole 120ish hour 4 book series. I can't express how much I enjoyed listening to these books. officially my new favourite series. and now I've spent just less than a week guess what I'm gonna start it all over again.
