Mouth sounds

She’s a great narrator but please drink more water or something. I know mouths dry as we speak but please take breaks and drink fluids.

Plot

The story has an amazing plot and there are so many twists where you think you know what is going on and then boom you were so wrong. This is a must read if your into royal story lines or fantasy and magical stories!

Strong female lead

Great characterization, interesting distopianish story plot, and leaves you on a cliff hanger. It’s such an easy listen. The author narrates which always makes me feel the characters more authentically. I couldn’t wait to get to the next book.

I certainly Hope the second book in this series is available soon, now I wait.

I’ve followed this book on Kindle Vella and am so into the story I wanted to have it on audio for some hiking trips! Very fun series to follow and I’m excited to see what happens next!!

Queen of books

I Love your book. I'm hooked on this series. Although you have a very nice voice, it sounded like you were sucking on candy and I could here you swallowing which is very irritating. I will be reading the rest of this series.

I picked up this book expecting light "rags-to-riches" fantasy, and it delivers that thrill beautifully. The contrast between the protagonist's poverty and the capital's extravagant luxury creates a quietly provocative undercurrent that invites reflection without being preachy. You can engage with the social commentary or simply enjoy the entertaining story.

What makes this novel special is its protagonist's approach. In a world designed to strip contestants of their humanity through senseless, violent trials, she leads with empathy, kindness, and integrity rather than hardening herself. Unlike other dystopian heroines who discover solidarity through hardship, Wright's character begins with these traits—they're what carry her through the brutality.

Also, Wright's audiobook narration is excellent, and her other books are equally compelling!

worst voice actor ever

The story is intriguing and I'm getting really into it...when I can ignore the readers constant mouth breathing, lip licking and obvious dry mouth issues, someone get her a glass of water! let's hope they don't use the same person for the entire series or I may have to switch to a hard copy and avoid the awful audio

the speaker needs to drink water before reading.. you can hear her swallow with is annoying
