Story
Part of getting the CompTIA Network + certification is passing the N10-007 exam, which some of those who’ve done the exam say is the hardest exam they’ve ever done! With a minimum pass mark of 77 percent, you cannot afford to not prepare adequately if you truly want to pass the exam. In fact, it is not uncommon for people to attempt the exam several times – some even end up giving up before they could pass! The exam is so tough that rumor (unconfirmed) has it that about 30 percent of those enrolling for the exam get the pass mark!

Out of Date, but good foundation
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. this book provides an easy to digest foundation for best security practices, and lots of terminology the readers may be unfamiliar with. If you are studying for the test, do not rely only on this book, as it is out of date, and only meant to be supplimental.
Any additional comments?
An up to date version would be wonderful, for the SYS-401

Good foundation but practice with tests!
This "lecture style" book immediately throws you into the 6 domains of Security+ and is A LOT to take in even if you're familiar with secure computing practices. I prefer question & answer style audio books but either way ultimately this was perhaps only supplemental to passing my test. I recommend practice testing and study any wrong answers or terms/ports you are unfamiliar with. Once you can pass practice tests consistently and confidently, then go schedule your test. You'll have 100 questions, 90 minutes, use the mark a question button to quickly move onto the next question so you can review unanswered or unsure answers at the end. I finished in under 1hr and surpassed the 750 minimum score by 100+. Rules all may change after 1/15/2011 review posted 1/6/11.

Older info, but good info.
I have the newer books and the newer curriculum and the newer everything else. But I downloaded this audiobook to listen to while I'm driving in the car.
For that purpose this audiobook was perfect. It's not the newest information, but it's good foundational information that helped me supplement the newer books that I already have. For that reason I recommend this audiobook.

I downloaded this book to study for the exam without checking the version - totally my bad. Still, even though the material was outdated for the 2019 exam, it was helpful as a base of study for me. I recommend this book as a supplement to other books for exam study.

Good review, narration is horrible
I hadn't studied computer security except tangentially before listening to this audiobook, and I feel like I know a little bit more about it, now, but not much.
The lecture series is presented in a somewhat organized manner, but it becomes annoying to hear, "This completes this lecture" over and over again. The narrator is so boring that unless you increase the speed you will fall asleep.
The material was good, but I didn't think that it delved into the more technical aspects of security. The lectures focused more on terminology and general security theory. Overall, this is the least helpful of the CompTia lecture series audiobooks that I've heard, but it was a good terminology primer for learning about security issues.

Boring and stilted, poorly written and presented
The lifeless narrator reads his script as if it consists if bullet points. Not enough context is provided to make this book very useful for me. Also, the narrator mispronounced many words (like "ititerate" for "iterate"). I'd give this book one limp dead frog out of five.

An acceptable summary of Security+ exam content.
My only real complaint with this series is the narrator. Not only is his voice not very appealing, but he frequently stops mid-sentence to find his place on whatever he's reading from. Compared to the Network+ series, the Security+ recording is not very engaging.
As far as actual content the audiobook does a fine job of outlining important subjects presented on the exam.

Story
The A+ credential is the first certification that many IT professionals ever receive. It has been around for over 25 years at this point and has been awarded to over a million applicants during that time and this matter, because the certification has become well known by IT employers. When you're looking for a job and you have the A+ after your name, most companies know that that's a real credential. It's also a vendorneutral credential, in the sense that it doesn't promote any particular hardware or software vendor.
