Publisher's Summary

New York Admirals goalie Eric never thought his friends-with-benefits arrangement with much-younger Kyle would leave them both wanting more…

Veteran goaltender Eric Bennett has faced down some of the toughest shooters on the ice, but nothing prepared him for his latest challenge—life after hockey. It's time to make some big changes, starting with finally dating men for the first time.

Graduate student Kyle Swift moved to New York nursing a broken heart. He'd sworn to find someone his own age to crush on (for once). Until he meets a gorgeous, distinguished silver fox hockey player. Despite their intense physical attraction, Kyle has no intention of getting emotionally involved. He'll teach Eric a few tricks, have some mutually consensual fun, then walk away.

Eric is more than happy to learn anything Kyle brings to the table. And Kyle never expected their friends-with-benefits arrangement to leave him wanting more. Happily-ever-after might be staring them in the face, but it won't happen if they're too stubborn to come clean about their feelings.

Everything they both want is within reach…they just have to be brave enough to grab it.

Very Sexy, Very Repetitive

Although this book was really sexy, I found the story to be a bit frustrating. Reid creates really charming characters and an interesting enough premise, but the plot it’s stuck in inertia. Throughout the book she creates multiple outlets, that if explored, could have made for a rich storyline. Instead, the entire book revolves around the same repetitive insecurities, which create a story that’s one dimensional and all of the possibilities that would have made the book more interesting were simply tied up in a nice little bow during the epilogue. The repetition was a bummer. That said, the characters are charming, the narration is excellent and the chemistry between Eric and Kyle is super steamy. Because the two first books of the series were so great I will try the next book in the series once it’s written.

This one didn't work for me

Struggles to finish this one honestly despite being a fan of the series. The narrator did a great job but I found the plot slow. The conflict in the relationship of the main characters felt a contrived and stretched a bit thin for a full length story.
.Great to see cameos from Ilya and Shane and Scott and Kip.I guess this one just didn't work for me

Good story. Good narration.

Really enjoyed the beginning of this story, and the characters are interesting. The constant back and forth between Eric and Kyle did start to drag on a little bit. Yes, we understand that there is an age gap. The angst started to feel like whining, and I say, "Bite me to anyone who thinks 40 is old for an athlete. I will show you what this old lady can do with a dodgy rotator cuff."

All that said, I enjoyed the functional part of Eric and Kyle's relationship.

This book felt like a lead up story. A few characters that have dropped by in earlier books reappeared a bit too conveniently. More Ilya and Shane now please!

Cooper North is definitely on my must listen narrator list too.

Different narrator would make a big difference

this could be a fun story if the narrator could change his voice for characters or emotions. only got to chapter three, and I'm already tired of the droning on and on. didn't listen to sample. Big Mistake!

Sweet couple

This couple was sweet and the story was cute like Tough Guy. I’m spoiled by the passionate, hot, aggressive, extremely humorous Heated Rivalry. Shane and Ilya are still my favorite couple. Looking forward to The Long Game!🔥🔥🔥 and Thor Tom rocks!

Another great story!

I adored heated rivalry and was not disappointed with this one either. Both performances were amazing and I truly cannot get enough of these hockey players. If I had any complaints it was only for the story to be longer because I just want more!

Good Story , Disappointing Narration

Cooper North -the new narrator- has a pleasant enough voice and tone. YET all the characters sound exactly the same . Couldn't distinguish who was talking.

My main issues are when Ilya Rozanov, a Russian born, heavy accented main character that appears in ALL previous stories. As he is the link that interconnects all the books of the series together; have the SAME EXACT ACCENT , TONE , CADENCE of VOICE as everyone else , North Americans and French Canadians athletes alike, I knew this audiobook was never going work for me.

Why is so important ? Throughout the series , Rachel Reid have made the point of showcasing Ilya Rozanov strong Russian accent, speech patterns, etcetera. And the character taking advantage of it his strong accent, it's part of the plot. By the way, anotther pivotal MC , Shane Hollander French Canadian accent, it's non-existent in this audio too.

To say, I am disappointed with the audio version is an understatement. Okay, now on to the story part of this review.

Common Goal is a fine, solid and entertaining read. A strong and welcome continuation to this amazing series. Both heroes , Eric and Kyle are likeable and have many great qualities. Kyle won me over with his hilarious inner thoughts and wonderful quirky personality. As for Eric , his sense of honor and dependable nature made me fall for him.

They make a good and likeable couple . I wish they had better communication skills.

It would be amiss , on my part , if I don't mention Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander making cameos appearances. And of course, Ilya being Ilya , Stole. Every. Single. Scene. he was in.

Conclusion: Great story , disappointing narration.

Kyle & Eric :)

A change in narrator for the 4th book in the Game Changer series, but I'm a fan of Cooper North's performances, so the change didn't present a problem for me.

I'm really enjoying listening to this series so far - Common Goal felt a little slower than the previous books, but I love age gap & slow moving romance, so Eric & Kyle get a thumbs up from this listener :)

Stunning, steamy, perfect!

Pro hockey goalie, Eric Bennet is 41 and contemplating a lonely retirement, having divorced his wife a year ago. When he meets 26 yo arts grad student, Kyle Swift, Eric grapples with the uncertainty around his bisexual feelings and the age gap. This was such a well-written character-driven romance, both MCs had their own strengths and insecurities and I loved they time they spent together. In the original Game Changer book, Scott Hunter literally changed the game by coming out and in each subsequent book, it’s been wonderful to see each set of MCs benefiting from that brave pivotal event. In this fourth book, Rachel Reid revisits many of the previous MCs in a very satisfying way and I can’t wait for future books in this excellent series! Cooper North takes up the narration in this book and I loved his style and pace, I hope he narrates future books in the series.
