Publisher's Summary

Cold Tangerines is a collection of stories that celebrate the extraordinary moments hidden in our everyday lives. It is about God, and about life, and about the thousands of daily ways in which an awareness of God changes and infuses everything. It is about spiritual life, and about all the things that we have called nonspiritual life that might be spiritual after all. It is the snapshots of a young woman making peace with herself and her life, and trying to craft a life that captures the energy and exuberance we long for in the midst of the fear and regret and envy we all carry with us. It is both a voice of challenge and song of comfort, calling us upward to the best possible life, and giving us room To breathe, to rest, to break down and break through. Cold Tangerines offers bright and varied glimpses of hope and redemption, in and among the heartbreak and boredom and broken glass.

Lovely collection of storeis

This heartwarming collection of personal stories chronicles the authors personal struggles as a woman, a friend, a sister/daughter/mother, and just as a human being.

While I wouldn't call this a self-help book it is definitely inspiring. Time and time again I found myself re-examining similar experiences from my own life and finding places I could have been more kind or more generous and often with myself as well.

This book uplifts my day :)

I'm so grateful for the words in this book that are a reminder that the ordinary things are actually colorful and magnificent. It gave me perspective when I would wake up on a cloudy day and lose myself to the maelstrom of negativity. It was an absolute blessing!

More of the same

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Usually an author-read book is great -- not this time. Where was the director? Some one should have suggested she SLOW DOWN when reading a book about gratitude and the reverence of every day life. She didn't give the listener a chance to contemplate, or even fully hear, what she was saying.

Would you be willing to try another one of Shauna Niequist’s performances?

I may read a book by Shauna Niequest but I will not listen to another one.

Funny and inspiring!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book! Shauna's reading of her own words made it such a personal experience too. I felt like I was spending a weekend with a new best friend who was laying her heart bare in the most loving and funny and self-deprecating way. She confesses so many things that I could directly relate to, I felt safe in her grace and in her own imperfections. I highly recommend this book for all women - young and old alike!
