Publisher's summary

Cognitive behavioral therapy can change your life. CBT is the most researched type of therapy and scientists have found that it can be very effective in helping people with all kinds of mental health concerns. Whether you deal with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, personality disorders, bipolar disorder, PTSD - all of these things and more can be helped by CBT.

The secret is that our thoughts and judgments are what determines our perceptions of the world. The way we act and feel is a combination of the situations that happen to us and our judgments about those situations. By changing your thoughts, you can change how you feel.

The power to change your life is within your own mind. This book will teach you how to observe your thoughts and change them. It will give you the tools you need to make real, meaningful change, right away.

In addition to cognitive interventions, this book also talks about ways you can learn to problem solve and deal with specific issues in your life. Sometimes things seem unsurmountable, but when we look closer at them, we can learn ways to deal with what troubles us.

Regardless of what you struggle with, a better life is possible. All you need to do is take the first step toward helping yourself: buying this book. With this book, you can start a journey toward self-acceptance and self-love that can make you feel better each and every day.

AWESOME

It's very easy to use for an individual or in a session with clients. I like that there are "homework" type questions at the end of each chapter and worksheets you can photocopy to hand out or just use yourself

Amazing, useful, helpful

Amazing, useful, helpful.....I cannot explain enough how this book helped. My advice is get a notebook to answer the questions, take notes, and write down thouhts. That helped me realize new perspectives to what's going on and what I can do. I suffer from medical anxiety horribly. Just a week before I got the book, I had my worst attack to date. Since I have finished the book, I haven't had an attack yet.im not 'cured', but I'm not suffering anymore either! I use the tools that were given to help me regulate. I want to hug the author and thank him!!

Worth it

This book does a great job explaining how CBT principles apply to common problems like procrastination and stress. It provides great worksheets and concrete plans for how to put the CBT skills into use, making it good for people with and without previous exposure to CBT. Another nice feature is that you don't have to listen the whole thing, after the first few chapters you can skip around and just listen what's useful for you.

CBT made simple

This book is an excellent resource for both patients and clinicians. It is a user-friendly, comprehensive guide to emotional regulation. I especially enjoyed the step-by-step progression of material that was presented in a clear and concise manner. The book also answered many of the follow-up questions that my patients have when I’m introducing CBT. I’ll definitely be using this in my clinical work and recommending it to my patients.

CBT Expertise at Your Fingertips

Practical, grounded in research, accessible. In my podcast interview with Tony Bennis, it became clear he has a solid grasp of CBT. His book is full of exercises that don’t require a doctor’s help.

A great resource

Tony has written a clear and concise introduction to CBT. The book is a wonderful resource for student clinicians who are learning CBT, clients who are working with a therapist, and for any therapist's bookshelf. If you're curious about CBT and considering whether you'd like to try it.
