Publisher's Summary

Cognitive behavioral therapy can change your life. CBT is the most researched type of therapy and scientists have found that it can be very effective in helping people with all kinds of mental health concerns. Whether you deal with depression, anxiety, eating disorders, personality disorders, bipolar disorder, PTSD - all of these things and more can be helped by CBT.

The secret is that our thoughts and judgments are what determines our perceptions of the world. The way we act and feel is a combination of the situations that happen to us and our judgments about those situations. By changing your thoughts, you can change how you feel.

The power to change your life is within your own mind. This book will teach you how to observe your thoughts and change them. It will give you the tools you need to make real, meaningful change, right away.

In addition to cognitive interventions, this book also talks about ways you can learn to problem solve and deal with specific issues in your life. Sometimes things seem unsurmountable, but when we look closer at them, we can learn ways to deal with what troubles us.

Regardless of what you struggle with, a better life is possible. All you need to do is take the first step toward helping yourself: buying this book. With this book, you can start a journey toward self-acceptance and self-love that can make you feel better each and every day.

  • Learn the background of cognitive behavioral therapy and what makes it unique and special.

Sham!

All the constructive feedback are bogus. There is a network of people the write paid feedback, and this is one of them.
Look at their other feedback, notice it's all the same set of books!

Amazing, useful, helpful

Amazing, useful, helpful.....I cannot explain enough how this book helped. My advice is get a notebook to answer the questions, take notes, and write down thouhts. That helped me realize new perspectives to what's going on and what I can do. I suffer from medical anxiety horribly. Just a week before I got the book, I had my worst attack to date. Since I have finished the book, I haven't had an attack yet.im not 'cured', but I'm not suffering anymore either! I use the tools that were given to help me regulate. I want to hug the author and thank him!!

If your suffering or a loved one

I have suffered from PTSD, Anxiety disorder with agoraphobia/Panic disorder and depression for over 10yrs. With a gentic dispossession. Where I could can not take any anti-depression pills. I've seeked help multiple different ways. To better my mental health. To name a few of them. Other self help books, counseling, gym membership, spiritual guidance. This book is truly amazing. Its helping me channel my thoughts/emotions and be more productive without isolating myself. If your suffering. Its a must listen .

An excellent guide

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is helpful for many difficulties and challenges that people face every day, like anxiety, depression, anger, and procrastination. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Made Simple is an excellent resource for taking these effective tools and making them clear and attainable for anyone who is seeking to benefit from them! It explains CBT concepts in a Step-by-step way that is easy to follow and makes sense. As a former colleague of Tony Bennis , I cannot help but notice that the tone of this book is reflective of his reputation as a kind, compassionate and relatable clinician.

Worth it

This book does a great job explaining how CBT principles apply to common problems like procrastination and stress. It provides great worksheets and concrete plans for how to put the CBT skills into use, making it good for people with and without previous exposure to CBT. Another nice feature is that you don't have to listen the whole thing, after the first few chapters you can skip around and just listen what's useful for you.

Great book

It's very easy to use for an individual or in a session with clients. I like that there are "homework" type questions at the end of each chapter.

A great resource

Tony has written a clear and concise introduction to CBT. The book is a wonderful resource for student clinicians who are learning CBT, clients who are working with a therapist, and for any therapist's bookshelf. If you're curious about CBT and considering whether you'd like to try it.

Really good book

Very listenable and I started treating myself right away after the first few chapters. It is an excellent layman treatise on the subject. Finally I know what CBT is and I can use it on my patients and on myself. Now I give myself more permission to turn negative experiences in my life into a positive power that helps me grow and see the good in all that happens to me. Seriously. But you need to want to be positive. Life is hard and I can see how some of us may not want to get over a passive negative

Amazing!

I bought this book and another one by Tony Bennis , Retrain Your Brain: CBT in 7 weeks, and I have been using them concurrently. And I love it! I have tried to get help multiple times in the past and have been unsuccessful in those attempts. These books are amazing if you are like me and don’t necessarily appeal to the idea of sitting and spilling your life story to someone across a desk. They are easy to listen and easy to follow. Other CBT programs I have listen about sounded almost childish in getting you to think about your thoughts and feelings and being mindful. But these help encourage you to get your life back into your own hands and take control. They are amazing!

Excellent CBT

I've listen and practiced CBT. This book has been added to my resources on this subject. He covers the gamut of CBT and, most importantly, adds new material from research that has been conducted since the originators of this very effective therapy. Written in a down to earth style so very layman friendly. If you use CBT or want to get a fine introduction, and then some.... listen it.

This book is definitely a go

This book is definitely a go to for anyone interested in internalizing the best nuggets that CBT has to offer. The wide range of symptoms targeted in this book help orient listeners to efficient and effective ways of incorporating these strategies into their daily lives. The example clients were especially helpful when identifying certain issues and targeting them with each skill. The worksheets makes the process seamless and help visualize what can sometimes be tricky concepts to understand.

This book helps you

This book helps you to understand and take action when it comes to unwanted negative thoughts and feelings. A combination text and book, this "made simple" design is perfect for anyone looking for a guide as they strive to make positive changes and feel better. As a practicing psychologist, I'm going to use this book often and recommend it to my patients. So helpful to have a clear and concise roadmap for letting go of worries and improving your mood!

Very user friendly

This book is definitely one that I would want all of my patients who benefit from CBT to have their own book. The author did an excellent job of making CBT very user friendly for anyone who might be feeling too overwhelmed in the current moment of their lives to focus on less user friendly books. Let's face it. If you are human you've probably experienced overwhelm at least once. If CBT is indicated, this book will help, along with an experienced clinician of course.

An excellent resource

As a CBT-focused clinical psychologist working with individuals struggling with conditions that span the anxious/depressive spectrum, I often find myself wishing that concepts I implement were more widely disseminated amongst the general populace. In CBT Made Simple, Tony Bennis has created a wonderful resource for those who have had difficult inner experiences that can interfere with life. Drawing from his vast knowledge of therapeutic process and outcome, psychopathology, and neurobiology, Tony Bennis makes simple, clear, and practical recommendations that are grounded in scientific evidence.

I’m a therapist, and bought this as a refresher for the CBT modality. I appreciate that it listens kind of like a self help book, which makes it easier to translate for my clients. Easy to listen and follow.
