In the novel Numb, Calvin Court used to joke that his life was a series of clichés. He had no idea.

Welcome to The Track. An elite club for members whose depraved desires run to the extreme. A place where you can bet on a "pony" and see how long he can survive...in a deadly scenario decided by a simple spin of the wheel.

Step right up.

This was a well-preformed audiobook. My only complaint was that it was too short and over too soon. Jeff Hays and Annie Ellicott do an PHENOMENAL performance with this one. I was deeply impressed how smart and quick-witted Calvin was (the main protagonist). “CLICHE” is when you combined “The Truman Show” with “The Hunt”. I loved the story and the performance. Jeff Menapace wrote an awesome story, and I can’t wait for more.

“The Hunt”+”The Truman Show”= “CLICHE”

I’m not sure if a similar story has been written before, but this was definitely engaging. The two main characters, Angela and Calvin, are completely separated, and only Angela knows what is happening. She has entered Calvin as a “pony” at a very different kind of betting track.

Instead of races, ponies compete individually in cliche movie action scenes, pitting their fighting prowess against trained hunters who are trying to kill them the twist is that the ponies have their memories reset to match the plot lines of the cliche scenarios they are placed in. Only instinct and muscle memory remain to aid the ponies as they fight for their lives.

Jeff Hays and Annie Ellicot are always excellent, and once again showcase their talents in this story.

The only disappointment is that it does not appear that there are more episodes available on Audible, so I may have to seek them out in print or on Kindle.

Very Cool Concept

Wanted it to be longer which is a good thing to keep me wanting more! Laughed through the quips, and the narration was well done.

Thoroughly enjoyed this!

What can I say other than I've never been disappointed. a nice balance of darkness and humor makes his creative plots something you just want to listen to more of.

Jeff Menapace outdid himself this time. But don’t leave me hanging? When will the next episodes be released?
