Publisher's Summary

Liam loves his life as a linguist and trader on the Rownt homeworld, but he has ignored his heart and sexual needs for years. After escaping the horrors of war, he wants a boring life. He won't risk letting anyone come too close because he won't risk letting anyone see his deeply submissive nature. For him, submission comes with pain. Life burned that lesson into his soul from a young age.

This fear keeps him from noticing that the Rownt trader Ondry cares for him. Ondry may not understand humans, but he recognizes a wounded soul, and his need to protect Liam is quickly outpacing his common sense. They may have laws, culture, and incompatible genitalia in their way, but Ondry knows that he can find a way to overcome all that if he can just overcome the ghosts of Liam's past. Only then can he take possession of a man he has grown to respect.

Contains mature themes.

I loved it

I first read this story a year ago, and I was ecstatic when I saw it was coming in audio. I did not particularly enjoy the added introduction, which didn't have the same way of expressing much with little as is so fascinating in the rest of the book, but the bonus stories were wonderful! I hope to hear more from Lynn Gala very soon!

ATELOPHOBIA: The fear of imperfection. The fear of never being good enough.

Everyone always leave. No one , ever stays and protect him... No his mother, no his lovers, no the army and no even, his fellow humans. Liam knew why...he wasn't good enough.

Until , Ka -Ondry came into his life , a Rownt . Millions of miles away from where he born , in another planet Liam found his Chilta and in the process he found where he belongs. Where he is wanted, treasured and protected. Where he is loved and valued. In the purple arms of his Chilta , Liam fears are no more

For Ondry , Liam is his Plateia , his best friend , his to take care, protect and love . His forever and his perfect human.

Like most of my favorites audiobooks and movies ; I first read the ebook/paperback, then experience the story in those others formats. And what memorable experience listening to Claimings, it turn out to be.

John Solo articulate, well paced and engaging narration style enthralled me. His natural , at times emotional , others humorous and inquisitive delivery was faultless. His performance of the many different characters voices , accents and intonations that be of , a main and secondary characters , humans and Aliens alike, elevates this audiobook to a Most Listen and right into my Top 5 Favorite Audiobooks of 2019. Or maybe The Best of The Year and I listen to A LOT of audiobooks.

I should add, my enjoyment of this audio it's such ; I re-listen it, 3 times in a 38 hours period.

Claiming, Tails, and Other Alien Artifacts is a magnificent Sci-Fi Interplanetary , MM Romance . I am blown away Lyn Gala extraordinary imagination and creativity.

Her world building is impressive and addictive. The unique plotline is the perfect combination of rational, believable, with the miraculous.

This isn't me hyperbolizing when I say, your Audio library will be incomplete without this fascinating book. It is worth ALL the credits in yours and my account.

Get this book!! You will thank me later.

Looking forward reading and listening to the other 3 books of the series.

So Happy This Came To Audio!

I first read this book, then listened to the audio. Liam is a broken man traumatized by his past and is looking for someone he can trust, someone who will protect. And Ondry, through his patience and strength, is the one who offers Liam safe harbor. In Liam, Ondry has someone to take care of, someone to share his home (nest) with.

This is definitely Sci-fi as Ondry doesn't think or act like a human and yet, he is such an engaging and endearing character. The author does an excellent job in world-building, both in place and in culture. There are caretaker elements of light bdsm. While the ending is HFN, it is wholly satisfying. And, of course, the other books in the series are out so new readers can dive right back in!

John Solo does an excellent job narrating this story. He has a great sense of timing and his voicing of Liam's inner monologue was a treat to listen to. Until this performance, I had missed some of Liam's sass. And the narrator's matter-of-fact tone for Ondry reinforced that Ondry was "other" and yet still engaging.

I recommend this audio and am looking forward to the second book!

One of my FAVORITE couples!!! 💜💞💜

Audiobook review: October 2019
John Solo does a fabulous job in this very favorite series of mine!!! I was so excited 😱😱to pick this up and listen to it! He has everyone spot-on, especially the Grandmothers! I do wish, however that Ondri’s voice had been less stilted and a bit deeper.

This series is one of my favorite sci-fi series EVER! ♥️♥️The world-building is delightful and slow to reveal itself. Gala shows us the Rownt world through the human eyes of xenolinguist Liam. We learn as he does and it’s a marvel as we get to know a new species, world and culture!!

Liam has personal issues he is fighting but we don’t learn of this until later on in the story—and how this is dealt with is singularly caring and “human” from an alien species.

The love that springs up between these two is obvious and, yet, not. The tenderness between them is pure delight as is the intimacy!! 🔥🔥💕💕

I won’t go into spoilers, but rest assured that a human and a purple 7+ foot tall alien with a prehensile tail and incompatible genitalia can and do pleasure each other into bliss!!💕💕

BONUS 🙌: Extra short stories at the end of the book give us insight into Ondri and his POV!!

I can’t wait until the next audiobook is out!

Tons of fun and Satire

3.5 to 4 Blue Roses
3.5 to 4 Blue Flames

Narrator John Solo performed an outstanding science fiction audiobook with tons of hidden satire and deeper meanings as easy as butter melts on toast.
The wayward alien characters were brought to life and in my minds eye I felt like I was in the Never-ending Story from way back, many years ago.

There is lots of twists and turns, and some unanswered questions. I believe we can expect a follow up. The story did end a little abruptly, and if it wasn't for the bonus content at the end I think I would have been much more disappointed. Lots of answers in that bonus content, we hear Rownt's POV.
I will definitely be on the lookout for book 2.

Yip, I do recommend this audiobook, it's something different and has tons of fun.

Happy Listening.

absolutely special

It's review time

Narrator score🎧 ; John was absolutely brilliant.... I love his work, and his performance.... the voices he gave the grandmothers was extraordinary..... and the main characters got very very good voices as well. I adored it.

Level of steam🔥: it's takes time until they will have any physical encounters.... but, when they do.... it will be very special and very hot and very very steamy I loved it.

Level of anxiety and sadness0😱😢: this book is not a sad book at all..... it's a very special, complex and resilient story.... but it's not the sad story.... it's even hilarious in a lot of moments because of miscommunications that makes the story brilliant.

The book itself📖: so I didn't read the blurb and just dove in.... and I was absolutely enamored with the story !!!!
it's not your usual alien story(if an alian story can be called usual) it was very very real. . . you could feel the miscommunication between the two species as alian and humans....
Liam was a very interesting character. I adored he's resilient personality .... and he's.... we will call it silence demeanor and though he was very subdued... he was a very resilient character and I adored it.
But what made the story very special, in my opinion. was that author spoke about very delicate subjects with a very outsider point of view....( and I will explain) we are humans and we can't see our faults because we understand only Humanity ....we understand the words bad and good and wrong and right...
but what that author did was to take an outsider that looks at Humanity as something Alian.... and it was absolutely brilliant I loved the little nuances and sentences ....that will make you giggle like a 5 years old because the book was that good ..... the more severe moments in the story are explained in a strange point of view...... everything was very well written.
P.s in the end if the story you have a short bonus story that you need to listen to.... to understand the even more little nuances and I think you will love it as much as I did.

Stunning Narration of A Terrific Alien-Human Story

This is one of my favorite alien-human stories, and John Solo's narration adds so much to it. His voice for Liam is perfect for the character, and the alien voices are definitely alien-sounding while still allowing personality and emotion to show through. I was so impressed!

Great interspecies romance!

I really enjoyed this book. Even though it's an outer space alien story it still had a very relatable human aspect to it. The courting process of the characters was fantastically done and there were a couple plot points I wasn't sure how the author would make work but, in the end turned out great. I really enjoyed seeing the progression of the characters and the bonus story at the end was SO GOOD. I can't wait for the next book and John Solo really did a great job with voicing each of them and the alien language.

I’ll bound you to my nest, my heart and my soul

Reread: 1st Nov 2019

I loved reading this book but man, listening this is even better. 😍 I know I’m seriously biased when it comes to this series because both Lyn Gala and John Solo are my favorites 😁 but this is just an epic, flawless love story. 💜
COULDN’t GET IT ENOUGH! This will forever be on my all time favorites list and I think I will relisten these audios at least once a year. 😊🥰

Original review: Edited version

To say the least, this book is different. 😁 but let me assure you, this is different and unique in the best possible way. 😉

Liam is a damaged soldier who’s now serving as a linguist and a trader on an alien planet called Prarowont. And Ondry is a 7 feet tall alien who had been courting Liam for over 5 years (and hilariously, poor Liam was totally oblivious and he just thought Ondry was exceptionally friendly towards him because of his poor trading skills 🤣). And when Ondry found out a new commander from Earth has come and the guy had been mean and nasty towards Liam, he decided to handle things on his term. He has waited long enough for Liam and he won’t let anyone taking advantage of sweet, precious Liam. It’s time to make his claim once and for all. 😁 He’s the chilta (Dom) of palteia (Sub) Liam and no one could possibly takes better care of Liam than him. Now he only needs to convince Liam that he can trust him and let go if his fears and insecurities.

And my friends, things get very VERY interesting from this point on. 😉 However, this is more about subtle and beautiful relationship between a Dom and a Sub. Don’t get me wrong, you still get hot sex scenes but just not what you would normally hope from humans and aliens doing it. I won’t tell much details here since I don’t want to spoil the exciting surprises. 😛 And you know what, the other important thing I love in this book is the fact that a thousand years old Grandmas rule this planet. I mean it’s really refreshing to see a world where males are not the dominant rulers for a change. I’m all about matriarchal societies. 😊 It’s beautiful and heartwarming to see Liam who had a terrible, broken past was willing to overcome his fears and willingly submit himself to Ondry, the best Dom who knows when to stop and when to push. 🥰 This is the first book in the beautiful journey of these two lovers and I can’t wait to read more books in this series. And my god, as I said, I loved reading this series first time around but listening the phenomenal performance of John Solo was a whole new experience. 😱💜 I LOVED every single second listening to this story. Simply stunning! 😍

My favorite excerpts from the story

“Listen, child. I do not know your customs, but if Ondry tried to trade you away, I would strip the skin from his penis so he might never father children. I would brand him so that everyone would know he dishonored his oath as chilta. I say this as a grandmother of the tribe in the holy place of the tribe. Every grandmother will carry out my words.”

“I would never give you up. If I were killed, I would ask my family to always protect you, but I would never leave you, short of death. We do not trade in people. Ever.”

“As your chilta, I set the rules and decide what jobs will get done between us. I send you where I need you to go, and chain you to a wall if I even suspect you will not follow my order. I will demand truth from you and force such truth if you have trouble sharing. Most importantly, I will expect you to put my needs ahead of even your own, in trades and in this house. Without exception. But if you are palteia, none of that bothers you. However, I will also protect you, guard you jealously, and made sure everyone in this village knows that they are the offspring of thin-shelled eggs because they couldn’t see the truth under their noses. I plan to be quite obnoxious about it.”

The audio version of this book also includes the short stories from the prelude book. So I’ll include the review here too.

Original Review: Edited Version

Such beautiful short stories.
In this collection of short stories, we are able to learn how Ondry first had his sight on Liam and how they interacted with each other in the early days. It really was love at first sight! *swoon* 🥰 It’s so refreshing and exhilarating to see so many POVs here. I especially loved seeing things from Ondry’s eyes. It definitely was an eye opener. You really need to read this collection of short stories if you loved Claiming series by Lyn Gala. And I’m so grateful that Lyn put a glossary of Rownt expressions as well as reading, saying and paletia phrases at the end of the book. It definitely helps a lot to understand better about the importance of insults and how Rownt society runs. Loved it to the moon and back! 💚😉

Favorite excerpt from the short stories

“To have a creature adore you completely, to trust you more than they trusted themselves—it was a sacred gift from the gods.” 🥰

Inventive, smooth, sweet, sexy & funny

Finally another alien series that stands out with its refreshingly inventive world building that truely reflects an alien culture. The fluently coherent writing style combines sweet & sexy characters with a meaningful & funny story. Can't wait for the next instalment.
