Publisher's Summary

Alexandra

I thought I finally had my life figured out. Fate? Destiny? I know mine. But one afternoon questioned everything I thought I knew. Then it happened. Dr. Jason Dupree crashed into my life. His eyes linger on me longer than they should in polite company. You see, there is nothing polite about him. He's arrogant and overconfident. His touch? It's my undoing. I let him know in no uncertain terms that he is not the man for me. He is not my destiny. And his reaction? Totally unexpected.

Jason

The things in my life that matter to me? It's a short list. My career, a handful of family and friends. To call me unlucky in love would be a gross understatement. Hence my list. It's how I keep it all figured out. Then one morning, that safe little list collides with my future. Her eyes follow me everywhere, and they see through me like a soul x-ray. But it's her touch that nearly brings me to my knees. She doesn't see it, though. She's full of denial and sass, and her stares are indignant. She's a liar too. Telling me she's interested in another man. My reaction? Let's just say she never saw it coming.

Contains mature themes.

I wanted to love this book....

It started off promising and I was liking the characters, however, I thought Jason was not the same womanizing Jason from book 1. He seemed to say he was honest and didn't play games with women but then admits that a woman was glaring at him because he "ghosted" her friend. I didn't like that he became progressively kinda of annoying. Alex started off sorta strong but damaged. I felt like she was bulldozed into staying with Jason despite a "rollercoaster" that would make any woman pause before charging full steam ahead after clearing her mind for only four days. Alex seemed too quick to let him bully her into doing things his way but he never seemed to give her a break about Dr. Douchebag. I didn't like the irony there and I had to listen to parts on a higher speed, or skip short parts of the book. The antagonist seemed to give up too easily after being persistent most of the story... I don't know this one just didn't do it for me...Hopefully the next installments will be better. I didn't find myself as invested in their love story as Jake and Sandy.

Kind of Predictable

I enjoyed the book but when JD didn't tell Alex about Natalie, I figured when she found out not be happy and she would leave. I was happy they found happiness. I also appreciated how you included previous characters into this story line.

a delightful story...

with a much deserved happy ending. i read many of the other reviews. they were spot on in saying I would not regret the listen. The families are realistic. Many families choose to embrace the different spices in their soup. We are all aware racism and bigotry still exist. It will more than likely never go away. One can hope. Anyway good read. just one complaints; the voices we off at time.
