“A can’t-miss entry in one of the best urban-fantasy series currently being published.”—Booklist (starred review)

As Chicago’s only professional wizard, Harry Dresden has faced demons, vampires, werewolves, dark sorcerers, and hosts of horrors from beyond the mortal realm. But nothing could have prepared him for this…

Long ago, Susan Rodriguez was Harry's Dresden’s lover—until she was attacked by his enemies, leaving her caught between humanity and the relentless bloodlust of the vampiric Red Court. She disappeared to South America, where she could fight both her savage gift and those who cursed her with it. Now, she needs Harry’s help more than ever.

For the vengeful Duchess of the Red Court has discovered a secret Susan has long kept from everyone—including Harry—and she plans to use it. To prevail, Harry may have to unleash the full fury of his untapped power—and he may have no choice but to embrace the darkness within himself.

Because this time, he’s fighting to save his child.

Reseñas de la Crítica

Praise for the Dresden Files

“Think Buffy the Vampire Slayer starring Philip Marlowe.”—Entertainment Weekly

“Fans of Laurell K. Hamilton and Tanya Huff will love this series.”—Midwest Book Review

“Superlative.”—Publishers Weekly (starred review)

“One of the most enjoyable marriages of the fantasy and mystery genres on the shelves.”—Cinescape

“Butcher...spins an excellent noirish detective yarn in a well-crafted, supernaturally-charged setting. The supporting cast is again fantastic, and Harry’s wit continues to fly in the face of a peril-fraught plot.”—Booklist (starred review)

“What’s not to like about this series?...It takes the best elements of urban fantasy, mixes it with some good old-fashioned noir mystery, tosses in a dash of romance and a lot of high-octane action, shakes, stirs, and serves.”—SF Site

“A tricky plot complete with against-the-clock pacing, firefights, explosions, and plenty of magic. Longtime series fans as well as newcomers drawn by the SciFi Channel’s TV series based on the novels should find this supernatural mystery a real winner.”—Library Journal

“What would you get if you crossed Spenser with Merlin? Probably you would come up with someone very like Harry Dresden, wizard, tough guy and star of [the Dresden Files].”—The Washington Times

Wow--I just finished listening to this book, and once again, Jim Butcher proves that he can wring the maximum amount of tension, danger, and emotional trauma out of any situation. This book is an amazing roller-coaster ride, and James Marsters' performance is, as always, impeccable, bringing all of the characters to vivid life.

Harry Dresden's situation is grim, and getting grimmer by the minute, as he's pushed to his limits and beyond, and forced to make difficult and dangerous choices. But that doesn't stop him and his friends from indulging in the series' trademark sharp, funny dialogue and wisecracks.

One of the best installments of the series to date, and according to Jim Butcher's website, it looks like we have at least eight more novels and a number of short stories to look forward to in the future.

Highly recommended for fans of the series. I am eagerly awaiting the next installment!

If you could sum up Changes: The Dresden Files, Book 12 in three words, what would they be?

Magic. Paternal. Rampage.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Harry Dresden of course. He's always a bit on edge in most of his stories, very humanly so, but this time he is pushed as far as it gets with a personal slap in the face: Surprise! He has a daughter that was kept hidden from him and, further surprise, she is about to be killed.

Dresden goes through a lot in this book and he goes through that question that every parent has to have asked themselves at on point or another : How far would you go to save your child?

For Dresden, the answer is very, VERY far down a very, VERY dark path. The monsters are going to learn what happens when a wizard doesn't pull any punches this time...

Have you listened to any of James Marsters’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

James Marsters is an excellent narrator and brings Harry Dresden to life.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were three moments that made me fairly emotional two were at the end (sorry no major spoilers) and one was when Dresden makes a deal with a major enemy to gain power and then is...well, the book downplays it a lot, doesn't go into much detail and calls it "sex", but since it was something he didn't want to do...he was technically pretty much raped by her. I found it kind of disturbing, but the magical abuse over the human hormone system and free will wasn't exactly foreign to the series before this.

Any additional comments?

Although the story is really dark, there are a lot of significant changes in this story that fans of the Dresden files should read over before continuing the series.

This book is after "Turn Coat" and before "Ghost Story".

How far would a father go to protect his child?

Harry Dresden is an excellent character and all around nice guy with mad skills. I have enjoyed each and every one of the audiobooks about this misfit wizard with an impeccable moral compass and thought this was the best installment yet. The slightly darker plot signified a maturation of the character and I enjoyed the change. James Marsters is fantastic, and Jim Butcher brilliant. There are few narrator/writer combinations as great as this one.

Another excellent Dresden book. The recent books have been better than than the earlier ones. I was on the edge of my seat!

Great, if you love other Dresden books!

The Maggie plot alone would've been enough. Adding Council politics was abit much. Ramirez? Anastasia?
