Harry Dresden, Chicago’s only professional wizard, has always managed to save the day—but, in this powerful entry in the #1 New York Times bestselling Dresden Files, can he save himself?

One year. 365 days. Twelve months.

Harry Dresden has been through a lot, and so has his city. After Harry and his allies narrowly managed to save Chicago from being razed to the ground, everything is different—and it’s not just the current lack of electricity.

In the battle, Harry lost people he cared about. And that's the kind of loss that takes a toll. Harry being Harry, he’s doing his level best to help the city and his friends recover and rebuild. But it’s a heavy load, and he needs time.

But time is one thing Harry doesn’t have. Ghouls are prowling Chicago and taking out innocent civilians. Harry’s brother is dying, and Harry doesn’t know how to help him. And last but certainly not least, the Winter Queen of the Fae has allied with the White Court of vampires—and Harry’s been betrothed to the seductive, deadly vampire Lara Raith to seal the deal.

It's been a tough year. More than ever, the city needs Harry Dresden the wizard—but after loss and grief, is there enough left of Harry Dresden the man to rise to the challenge?

Reseñas de la Crítica

"The high-stakes plotlines keep the pages turning as rapidly as ever, but this installment’s greatest strength lies in its exploration of Dresden’s mental state as his resilience is tested as never before."—Publishers Weekly

“Series fans will be intrigued by the new characters and changes in Harry’s life as Butcher deftly explores the impacts of loss and grief.”—Booklist (starred review)

"A thoughtful, emotionally grounded entry that deepens the series while redefining its rhythm. . . . It favors depth over spectacle, offering a nuanced portrait of a hero learning how to endure. “There are no words for how much I love the Dresden Files. I take them out and reread them when I am sad, or bored, or happy—or I happen to walk by one even though I have a lot of other things I should be doing. this book is about healing from the loss of a significant other. it shows serious detail on depression after a death. it was very real. I appreciate Jim Butcher more for showing that when people die it actually does really take time to heal. I ❤️ this whole series.

12 months is about healing

This was a very emotional journey for Harry. I hope the next in the series is as good as this was. I enjoyed the ride, but I’m not sure i could listen to this one again anytime soon it’s just too taxing on the emotions.

Emotional roller coaster!!

I’m a crier. I’m also a believer in the importance and power of storytelling.
If Battle Ground was a flash flood, then Twelve Months is the consistent and steady fall of rain. I mean this both in a story sense and as a descriptor of my tear duct activity while listening. The action was as fast as it always is, and in no way would I consider the pacing slow or the story boring, but this isn’t a fun romp with the exhilarating highs and devastating lows typical of a Dresden Files book. Instead, Butcher provides a very honest look at depression brought on by grief and the way healing from loss simply takes time.
I think out of all the books in the series, Twelve Months is going to mean something to the people who read it.

Harry Dresden facing the greatest enemy yet! The emotional trauma that comes from living life as hard as he has for the last couple years. Butcher delivers again as always with harry Dresden. And it must be said that the wonderful voice acting done by the irreplaceable James marsters brings the wizard dresden to life through this recording. I literally can’t read Dresden without hearing marsters voice. He is harry dresden in my mind! Amazing performance! Exciting and fast paced while also have a ton of interpersonal elements! I can’t wait for the next book!

A gripping tale told by Jim butcher as always.

I think we should refer to this book in the series as "the maturity and wisdom of Harry Dresden." We love to see character growth 👏🏼
