Publisher's summary

Cilla

The Beast had Belle. Killian Black has me.

How I got here doesn’t matter, even though he says it does. Says it was my choice. He doesn’t get it, though. It wasn’t ever a choice for me.

And now, he’s changing the rules.

The agreement was one month. For 30 days, I’d be his. He’s no longer satisfied with my body alone, though. He wants my soul, too. Wants every part of me. And even though I can pretend I’m safe when I lie beneath him, this man does something to me. Something wicked.

A thing that will break me.

Killian

Cilla made the choice. She offered the deal. I just took her up on it. So what if I changed the rules halfway in? I’m not apologizing for it.

See, Cilla and me, we’re the same. She’s dark. As dark as me. Something happened to her. Something bad. It damaged her.

But it’s not a hero she seeks. It’s an avenging angel. A dark knight. That, I can do. I’ll slay her dragons, but it’ll cost her, because in return, I want everything. And I’ll take it.

She’s mine.

Killian is a stand-alone dark romance, originally published as Captive Beauty.

A 5⭐️ DARK & MULTI-LAYERED JOURNEY TO REDEMPTION

Firstly, this is not, no way no how, a paranormal story.. I think Audible’s got it under the wrong sub-genre and I’ll bring it to their attention in the hopes that they will put it right. Now on with my review...

What a riveting and wholly unstoppable listen this was.. it’s often dark, it’s hot, it’s got a sexy dark alpha anti-hero, it’s got a strong-willed but damaged heroine and it’s got a taboo secret that nobody should endure. But, the main love story between two very damaged characters, starts off as anything but a love story. Killian (aka Kill) is Mafia.. he owns a high class Strip Club and Priscilla (aka Cilla) has a troubled brother who is about to get his legs broken unless Cilla agrees to Kill’s outrageous demands. For 30 days (and nights) Cilla’s body will belong to Kill - he can do whatever he likes to it.. then her brother can go free. In the beginning Kill’s sexual demands were high.. he seeked total domination over Cilla’s body.. but Cilla wouldn’t play by his rules.. and soon they discovered tragic similarities, felt the pull of their sizzling chemistry, experienced passion and awoke dormant emotions. However, before there could be any type of HEA ending, a past demon would have to be slain, submission would have to be felt, dark memories would have to be exorcised, a brother and sister would have to break before they could mend.. and two damaged sibling would have to finally forgive themselves. Only then can healing begin.. and only then will love prevail.

Worth a credit? This bartered captive story had depth, it had raw undiluted heartache, it had drool-worthy, sigh-worthy and fan-worthy sexcapades, it had character growth, it had some intertwined characters from previous books, it had redemption.. and it had love. A captivating story of wills and wants in the push ‘n push relationship between Cilla and Kill, its well-paced well-written chapters flowed easily and it instantly became a very addictive book. But, for me, what made this story truly come alive, truly shine and truly pop was the skilled dual POV narration by Kate and Christian (sigh) whose vocal talents evoked a multitude of feels, enabled graphic mental imagery, made this listen memorable.. and YES made it creditworthy too.

the narrators were great but...

*possible spoiler alert* the Hero was a glorified hypocritical rapist... not my cup of tea. I don't care if it's not violent, or if her body reacts by become aroused... that's not that uncommon, its still rape. so no... the Hero never found redemption in my eyes, especially towards the end when he beat with a belt "for her own good". consensual Bdsm... that's one thing, but that wasn't even...

TragiCom

I realize this is fiction, but come on. The tragic childhood experiences by "Kill&Cill", while starting out believable, were so horrific it became laughably contrived. Too many superfluous characters that ultimately proved useless to the plot, had neither justification nor conclusion and left me confused as to the purpose of their inclusion. As for narration, Ms. Genevieve did the best she could with the ridiculous dialogue, however it seemed that when she was aiming for either smoky or wistful she ultimately sounded like a poor imitation of a frog. Mr. Fox, as always, didn't disappoint. He could read the phone book and make it sound erotic. Asking for a refund.

The Story just ended

This book began so intriguingly. A hint of dark and secrets. The secrets are never spoken but you kind of get the idea of what they are then the book ends. There was so much more story there. What about the other kids that were abused. What about supporting the one girl who tried to speak out. What about their lives moving forward. WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF THE STORY!! I want my credit back!!

TW:RAPE

I couldn’t get through this book. It’s glamorizing kidnapping, torture, and rape. I wish I could give no stars.

Wow... in a bad way

These characters need some SERIOUS therapy. I feel horrible for the female lead. She doesn’t even she is being repeatedly raped. Beauty and the beast is NOT a Stockholm example. This one is. I don’t understand how it can have so many good reviews. The only good thing about this is the narrators. They are very good. It’s not their fault the story is so wrong.

Skip It

I love a good dark romance but it has to be equal parts disturbing and written well. I don't understand the near perfect rating of this book. I gave up by chapter 4. Just listen to Irrevocable or Reaper: Boston Underworld for well written smart dark romance.

I need more!!!!

Stop the presses! Natasha Knight gave us one amazing story here! I literally could not put it down. The characters were soo flawed yet so perfect. They were rugged, raw and REAL! Their broken sides called to each other. What started as a sister sacrificing herself to save her brother, turned into salvation for herself as well. I can't say enough how much I loved this story. It very much felt like a dark retelling of Beauty and the Beast but in a completely original way. It was A dark, captivating tale.

Narration was perfect. Both Christian and Kate gave amazing performances. They embodied their roles perfectly and were beyond a pleasure to listen to. I was sad to hear it end.

Thank You Thank You Thank You!

Frog

Female narrator has a raspy voice like she needs to clear her throat. It’s uncomfortable to listen to. I keep clearing my own throat just listening to her.. ugh
Not sure how the book is as I’m in the first 10 minutes.
