Can’t Help Falling in Love with an Alien (Tentacular Tales #2) is a (116,000 words) M/M sci-fi rom com and the second book in the series. It should be listened to in chronological order. This installment features a pajama party date that will go down in infamy, inappropriate team t-shirts, a half-baked love poem, more Captain Starblade and Lord Vardox, drunken shenanigans courtesy of spaceship moonshine, unexpected mating instincts, plenty of new aliens with problems for River to solve, and tentacles galore. The Fun Sci-Fi Love Continues with Some Suspense

All things alien enthusiast River and his tentacled agent boyfriend Kai are back in another amusing out of this world love letter to sci-fi pop culture and worlds beyond. There's a bit more suspense this time around, with both of their lives in danger in different ways, and plenty of interspecies steamy times.

Narrator Greg Boudreaux returns with another charismatic performance that fully captures each character with gusto. That goes double for embodying the energetic and effervescent River. His considerable talents really shine in this series, and he makes listening along to an already fun story all the more engaging.

This story definitely builds on the first book, featuring the same MCs, and their ongoing HFN storyline ends on a bit of a cliffhanger here. I've heard the author is planning 10 books for the series, some featuring secondary characters as the MCs, and I'm here for it. Especially Mal and Benji's story. I received a free review copy of this audio book and have left this honest review voluntarily.

SO.MUCH.FUN.

I love this book and this series! Even the "dramatic" encounters are played for laughs. The snark and teasing between the various friends and family (and family/in-laws to be) is hilarious and keeps me in stitches. Is there ANYTHING more entertaining than the Genaro boys stoned or drunk? (No, there is not.😁) So many lessons learned, too. Lesson 1 (for River): It's all fun and games, until somebody gets poked in the eye with a (stuffed) unicorn horn. Lesson 2 (for Mal): It's funny until it happens to you. Favorite quote: I'm evil, but I draw the line at murder. And let's talk about the narration. Absolutely out of this world! Greg Boudreaux gives such character to the characters, and I am amazed at all the fun and unique voices he gives to the aliens. This man is truly a vocal genius. He makes these books a whole other layer of FUN. I love the books and the audiobooks and I am so eager for more. I must know about this sanctioning ceremony! It's gotta be in the nude, right?

The narrator captured the characters just right

This was a clever follow up to book 1. BUT….
Some parts were super predictable.
The bad ex turning evil 🙄 Chewy not being the bodyguard we hoped for

The new aliens brought into this episode were interesting. Not sure if I would have made them strippers but hey it is Vegas 🧐🤔😏 River’s best friend is the most annoying here. He’s an epic eye roll for me.

River and Kai are still interesting enough to keep the story engaging. The biology of Kai is intriguing. What will come of it in book 3?!?I’m definitely getting the audio for that. Greg does an excellent job of capturing the vibe of each character. It made the book that much more entertaining! Some parts will make you seriously laugh out loud. The narration of Greg made of this book made it really come to life. I enjoyed it immensely!

SO MUCH FUN!!

This series has been so much fun! Action and adventure with a romance that was given time to develop. Extremely engaging well rounded characters with little to no angnst but plenty of humor and a dash of snark. The steamy scenes are hot enough to satisfy this kinkster and make me laugh all at the same time. The voice acting is stellar (as usual, I regularly look for books narratid by Greg B. o r Greg T.)! 5 stars and I definitely recommend. I can't wait for the next book!

Perfect narration and an awesome sci fi series!

Narration: It’s perfection! Greg is seriously the best fit for this series, and especially for River. I’ve been both reading and listening to this series because I love Greg’s narration so much. I’d honestly recommend listening and prepare to burst out laughing … a lot.

Chloe Archer follows up her fantastic debut novel with a perfect addition to the series. I absolutely loved this book! Tentacular Tales is quickly becoming one of my favorite science fiction series of all time. It's such a great mix of sci fi goodness including pop culture references, humor, romance, adventure, and more. Sci Fi books can be so easily disappointing and there is absolutely nothing to dislike about this series thus far. It can also be hard for me to focus on books that are 250+ pages - I usually have to read them in chunks - but this book flew right by and I couldn't put it down.

Things jump right back from where the first book stopped, so we return to River, Kai and crew dealing with several things. They're following a new lead for their illegal drug distribution case and things only seem to be getting more complicated. River is still reeling from the news that he's part alien royalty, his parents' accident was actually murder, and there may or may not be a hit out on him. We continue to get to know the characters (I love them all!) and watch relationships grow (including a really sweet found family). There's a lot happening, but Chloe does a great job weaving it all together and keeping the pacing going.

Now don't forget that River and Kai haven't known each for very long, and yet they feel like they've been together forever. I love how easy their relationship is and how supportive they are of each other. Kai is also the biggest sweetheart and (literally) Kai's #1 fan. You can't help but love his love! One of the funniest things about this book is how the chapters start with a fan email and Kai's response. I think I highlighted every one of these because they made me laugh so much.

Speaking of funny, this book has one of the funniest scenes I have ever read. Without any spoilers, it has to do with an alien in roller skates. You'll know when you get there! I was reading through my highlights before writing this review and was crying laughing reading what I highlighted for that part. I have a feeling that every time I start a Chloe Archer book I'm going to think, how can Chloe one-up the funniest scene in her previous book? And then she'll do so no problem. (Another author who does this well is Alexa Land for those who love outrageously funny scenes.)

I really did love everything about this book. Shenanigans and mayhem seem to follow River everywhere and Chloe writes everything well and very true to her characters. I can't help but fall in love with the characters more and more with each page, and I can't wait to read more about everyone in the next book! The drug case is mostly wrapped up in this one, but it only opens more doors and leads to more questions (in a good way), and there's a lot of anticipation built up for the next book. It looks like the third book will be out in May 2023 and I plan to devour it the second it's released.

Thank you, Chloe, for SUCH a great sci fi series! It's my favorite genre and there just isn't a lot of queer sci fi (or sci fi in general) that really blows me away. I plan to re-read these books and I have my fingers crossed that there will be audiobooks one day. I highly, highly recommend this series, especially for my fellow sci fi nerds. Happy reading!

Love This Series!

I love everything about this series! First I read the Kindle books, then I found the audio versions. I can't wait for Book 3! As a gay, sci-fi nerd of epic proportions, this story just hits all my favorite things in the universe. Thank you Chloe and Greg. Fantastic job all around!

River and Kai's adventures continue as they attempt to track down an extraterrestrial drug dealer all while dealing with Kai's ex who wants Kai back in his life.

River is as sunny as always and continually pushes Kai to his limits, especially with his pyjama party date night and his spaceship moonshine experience. I absolutely love how Kai breaks out of his bubble and shocks everyone.

I love the storylines that are building with a lot of the side characters and hope they all either get their happily ever afters in this series or their own books.

Some interesting twists have you wanting to grab the next book right away. The series is best enjoyed in order as it follows the same couple and overarching plot.

Another amazing audiobook!

Chloe Archer and Greg Boudreaux = an absolute winning combination! I hoped that the second installment would be as good as the first, and I’m happy to say this one is even better that book 1! If you haven’t read book 1, start there and then come to this amazing audiobook. If you love hot aliens, nerdy sci-fi geeks and hilarious hijinks this story is for you!

Just as good as book 1!

I love this series!! Kai is so sweet and River is just hilarious. There were more twists and turns in this book then I expected and it kept me on my toes the whole time. Talk about an epic proposal and smoking hot new kinky scenes!
