Don't call about "The Book" Grant Mentions

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

If he would not have pitched Dianetics and Scientology and just stuck to sales info.

What was most disappointing about Grant Cardone’s story?

The pitching of Dianetics

How did the narrator detract from the book?

By trying to sell Dianetics

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Sell or Be Sold: How to Get Your Way in Business and in Life?

I would have cut the part where he mentions a book that he says is important to understanding people so you can sell, then won't tell you the title of the book so you have to call his company, and then finding out that he is trying to sell Dianetics.

Any additional comments?

I don't care what your belief system is, I will buy good products and services from anyone of any faith, but do not try to pitch your ideology as part of you product, especially in a dishonest and ambiguous way. That is incredibly unprofessional and inappropriate. I gave the book 2 stars instead of 1 because the info. is decent.

Almost an Infomercial

What disappointed you about Sell or Be Sold: How to Get Your Way in Business and in Life?

The narrator (also the author) consistently mispronounces words, and even uses the wrong words in places. This cold be overlooked in his enthusiasm, but it's exhausting to listen to through an entire book. The first three chapters are almost nothing but hyping the concept in the book. I'm already listening to it, I don't need it hyped for more than a paragraph or two. There are dozens of sales pitches in the book to purchase, visit, or otherwise consume other media produced by the author's company. While he does have a lot of other information available, the content to pitch ratio in the book was thin. With all the time he spent pitching other projects, he literally could have just included the content in this reading. There were times I had to fast forward through protracted, repetitive sales pitches just to pick up more fresh content.

Would you be willing to try another book from Grant Cardone? Why or why not?

Yes, because he is a subject master on Sales.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Grant Cardone?

Literally anyone that can read English aloud.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Sell or Be Sold: How to Get Your Way in Business and in Life?

Cut the entire second chapter and most of the repetition in the third chapter. (He makes a fresh point in the third chapter, but then reverts to pure repetition.)Cut the hyperbole of the narrator when he's clearly misinformed. I get that the book works partly because of his outsized bravado, but it's exhausting to listen to when he's obviously just making things up.

Any additional comments?

While I found the presentation repetitive and factually suspicious, the core of his sales system is sound. The ideas in this book are outstanding and he is clearly a brilliant producer. Despite the glaring failings of this reading, I would still recommend it with caveats.

Over the top

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The style was way over the top. There was some good information in there but as soon as he started pushing a book from L. Ron Hubbard and Scientology I knew I had had enough. Let me sum up the book - be positive - be persistent - take action.

Great Sales Book

I started with 10X Rule and just finished Sell or Be Sold. Great book for sales and I love the aggressive unapologetic approach. Grant's philosophy starts to sink in quickly and really makes you think.

Among the Greatest Books on Sales! A Must Read!

Would you consider the audio edition of Sell or Be Sold: How to Get Your Way in Business and in Life to be better than the print version?

Most definitely, the audio book has the added advantage of a Grant Cardone performance, and what a performance it is. If he ever gets tired of sales (highly unlikely...) he could always read books for Audible.com and would probably be better than most narrators ;-))

What other book might you compare Sell or Be Sold: How to Get Your Way in Business and in Life to and why?

Pitch Anything by Oren Klaff

Any additional comments?

I can only recommend this book to anyone in sales. Grant Cardone will change your thought process. I listen to the book while working out at the gym and I'm replaying various chapters in my car. Once you've listened to it, rinse and repeat.

Some Great Tips But Lots of Right Hooks

There were some really good tips, and I was loving it the first half of the book until it turned into a major infomercial for Grant's products and services.

He also lost me in a Chapter where he frequently used the words "itchbay" and "ickday" (pig Latin) repeatedly.

Some good tips, but it turned me off from listening to his other books. I may just buy the paperback version from now on.

The best sales training you will ever get!

Would you listen to Sell or Be Sold: How to Get Your Way in Business and in Life again? Why?

I listen everyday in my car, as well as when I am relaxing at home. I listen this audio before I go on a sale... it just keeps your training fresh.... and pumps you up!

What other book might you compare Sell or Be Sold: How to Get Your Way in Business and in Life to and why?

Well, Grant Cardone also authors and narrates two other audios which are equally incredible, in my opinion.... The 10X Rule and If You're not First, You're Last!.... besides Think and Grow Rich, I think these are the only audios you need for success.

What about Grant Cardone’s performance did you like?

He tells it like it is!.... No B.S.... and he knows his stuff... Great motivator and.Great Salesman!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I periodically listen to it, over and over.... I drill it in my head

Any additional comments?

I have listened to different speakers for 25 years, and Grant Cardone is on the top of my List. He is very unique in every which way. I would not listen if he wasn't the narrator... He's that good! ... He also shows by example, which is inspiring. Check him out on youtube

Phenomenal Book for Everyone

Grant Cardone is on fire as he reveals his personal sales techniques. This is a must read for everyone, not just those who are in sales for a living. All of us sell every day. We sell ourselves to others. We sell our ideas to others. We sell our presentations to others.

I have had a temper problem my entire life, but I now understand that tempers stop sales. Anything we do that negatively influences others means that we just lost the sale. What a change this book is making on my life! What an impact it is having on my relationships with others!!! What a change this book is making within me!!! This is a must read for everyone.

Please, please, please disregard the negative reviews, Either those people have their lives all put together or they are fooling themselves.

Does Grant come across kind of arrogantly? Yep, but don't miss what he is saying.

A must read for all who sale

Grant Cardone reads his own book but never really stays on script giving many extra insight to his thinking in this audiobook. I would say if your in sales you want to be a closer. If you can't close you aren't selling anything. This book has everything you need to be a closer except the heart. You have to provide that yourself along with commitment, dedication, and persistence. This is a must read for anyone who ever wants to accomplish anything in life.
This book was purchased for my own education.
