Present Bogged Down by the Past
The focus on the past made the present suffer. The exploration of the pasts of these characters was interesting, but the bulk of the present-day plot was underexplored or explained or just not as engaging as I wanted it to be. Interesting overlay of ideas, though.

Fairy tales blended with Asian sentiment
This was an interesting blending of LGBTQ characters with Asian mythology and European fairy tales like Red Riding Hood, Beauty and the Beast, Goldilocks, and Puss in Boots. I’m not entirely sure I understood the moral to the story, or what seemed to be deeper symbolism for fulfilling societal expectations or the true nature of good and evil. Part of my difficulty was with the time jumps, which seemed designed to obscure the reveals (and apparently succeeded too well with me). My other difficulty is that I never invested in any of the characters enough to truly care about their fate.
