Publisher's Summary

I ruined his life.

It was my investigation that sent his father to jail. It was my fault his mother killed herself shortly after. I’ve regretted it every day since. When he shows up in my Journalism class, I know I’m in trouble.

Cullen Ayers wants to make me pay. His torment becomes my life, and I endure every moment because I deserve it. What started as revenge quickly turns into lust. He’s only eighteen, and I should be ashamed of how good this feels when we’re alone, but I can’t help myself. I’m in too deep. I’m starting to discover his family’s secrets go far deeper than I first thought. The more I uncover, the more ways he finds to punish me.

Cullen wants to ruin me for life, and I’m afraid he already has.

This title was previously published in the Tangled Sheets anthology as Spitfire but has a new title, cover and added content!

Warning: This is a dark, bully romance with explicit content that may be triggering to some listeners, including dub-con, abuse, and murder. Cullen Ayers is covered in red flags, but the bigger the bully, the better the redemption.

Burning White Hot Brilliant!

Cullen Ayers, young, tormented and angry. Everly West, an investigative reporter turned journalism professor, now Cullen’s professor. Cullen holds Everly responsible for ruining his life and it’s time she paid his price. Burn for Me is a engrossing, heated, age gap, dark romance that grabbed me from word one, enthralled me and totally consumed me. The characters are believable, flawed and perfectly human. As you expect from Sara Cate, they are exquisitely well drawn and complete, some very likable and a few so throughly detestable that hades is too good for them. The plot is convincing, clear and easily understood with plenty of surprises and some nail biting moments! Quite a few times I had my breath held, mentally encouraging Cullen and Everly, “come on, you can do this!“. The heat level was for me, swoon worthy perfect! Now as for the narration, WOW! Without engaging in spoilers let me just say that “brought to life by fabulous narration” does not begin to cover it! This is a whole new level, so much so that in one chapter (no spoilers here), I slowed the speed, and played the second half three times. The raw emotion conveyed in those minutes, laying the character so completely bare was unbelievable. I actually had to stop listening for a bit to absorb it before I could go on. It was that powerful. It was that good. Burn for me was white hot brilliant! Five fabulous stars because I can’t give fifty!

Terrific Story & Listen🎧Dark,Twisted & Addictive!

Sara Cate never ceases to amaze me with her fabulous writing style and brilliantly creative and maybe even a little twisted mind, ok maybe a lot twisted. Twisted or not, she has a knack for grabbing her readers and/or audiobook listeners’ attention and holding it hostage for her entire book, heck she even has you feeling for the villain of the story and then rooting for him. And that is exactly what happens in “Burn for Me”, this story may not be an easy one and it may even take you out of your comfort zone but hang on because it is so worth the wild and crazy ride. The story starts out giving you a glimpse in a day of Everly West’s life, an investigative journalist who was working on a piece that started when she was a grad student interning at the Florence Times, all the time and work paid off and the trial for George Ayers ended in a conviction and jail time. She knew he had a wife and a son, even saw them in the trial room, saw the hate in the son’s eyes, but she did not think of them much afterwards. The story jumps to the present which is eight years later, she has left her position at the Times to teach journalism at Florence University and this is where her past comes back to haunt her, Cullen Ayers, George Ayers’ son is a student in her class and he does not hold back with his hate for her. He blames her for ruining his life and he is going to make her pay by making her life a living hell. Cullen plays on her every nerve and emotion, so much so she loses her all her facilities and smarts to not only fight him off but fight him back too. ls it bad that I wanted to smack some sense in her head at first, I get her guilt for not doing more for him when he was younger she tried to placate him and redirect his hate but Cullen was blinded by his hate for so long it absorbed him. But things start to turn around, feeling develop and he starts to open his eyes. This is a fantastic enemies to lovers romance, I loved the originality of it and that it not your typical bully romance or typical age gap romance. The story is cleverly plotted with plenty of drama, angst, twists and turns, thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt emotions, some are gut-wrenching too. Sara Cate, thank you for another amazing story & emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the wonderful narration, Sara Cate chose the perfect cast to bring her characters and story to life, Allie Martina and Gideon Frost are talented narrators and versatile voice artists. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that was the right fit for their character’s persona, sounding believable in every role they played and just as I pictured the characters to sound. Allie Martina played Everly with perfection, grasped all sides of her personality and her vulnerability. Gideon Frost did the same for Cullen, nailing the hate, bringing out his inner turmoil and lightening it up towards the end. Both were great performing the roles of the secondary characters too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and projected them into their performance. Both are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another fantastic listen.

Loved this twisted yet seductive romance

I really enjoyed listening to this story it was very hot and steamy. I enjoyed the fact that age is just number and love and infatuation can be found anywhere between two consenting adults. I really liked the female lead in this story she was full of fire and always stands up for what she thinks is right. Allie Martina the narrorator did a phenomenal job as always telling this story and I will listen to just about anything she narrorates she brings so much life to a story 😊 I really think if you are someone who enjoys steamy bad boy romances then this book is totally for you.

Dark, brutal, sexy, and emotional

4.5 stars!
Age gap, teacher/student, forbidden, enemies to lovers, bully romance. And lots of spice! Two people, connected by a common tragedy, but at opposite ends. She was the journalist who exposed his father’s crimes and help send him to prison, which then resulted in his mother committing suicide, and him being forced to live with an abusive uncle. Cullen Ayers is angry and bitter, and when Everly appears as his journalism professor in college, he suddenly sees it as an opportunity to take out his anger on someone he blames for the stark and abrupt descent of his life of wealth to one of struggle and darkness. For Everly, that case was supposed to be career launching, but turned out as more of a peak, and she finds herself living a quiet and boring life, opting to try teaching to see if it will suit her better since her reporting hasn’t been as fulfilling. But when Cullen shows up in her class, she is thrust back into those days, and suddenly she’s worried - she sees the hate in his eyes, she has no idea what he’s been through since the trial ended, and she feels responsible for the lack of follow up for all the victims in the case, which clearly seems to include the young son that was left behind.

Cullen is brutal with Everly. He is angry, and she is an easy target. Nothing that he does to her is okay. He is harsh and scary, and she is terrified of him. But there is also a spark. What is good about this book, is that we get both POVs. I think without Cullen’s POV it would have been much more difficult to see him as more than just an abuser. But there are peeks at remorse, we see the struggle, and the emotions and reactions are raw and unchecked. For Everly, she desperately wants to move on from all of this. But she is so torn, and she recognizes the pain and grief in Cullen, past all of his aggressiveness. They seem so diametrically opposed, but at the same time, they are pulled together like magnets. When the sparks fly, they fly big. It’s dark, raw, and emotional, and in the end, it’s really just so perfect. From the beginning, where you’re so shocked with Cullen’s actions, wondering how do we get to an HEA with this guy, it’s such a gradual, but intensely satisfying journey to that end.

The narration is excellent. Both characters are captured beautifully, and it only adds to the deep emotional impact of the story.

Intense & dark and forbidden !

If you like your romance on the dark and forbidden side, this audio is for you!!
Sara Cate is brand new to me as well as both narrators.

I'm not going to lie, I initially started this and stopped and almost DNF. I wasn't in the right headspace for this book, so I put it aside and picked it back up 2 days ago and devoured it!! I also probably burned a thousand calories while listening to this one.!!
Teacher/student forbidden romance is not my usual listen, but both Allie and Gideon brought the heat to this audio!!

By the end of this book I was all in for this HEA! I was happy that both Cullen and Everly changed and developed into something better than how they started! I honestly didn't like either character initially, but Sara is a talented author and she drew me in and changed my mind.

I need to check out more of Sara's audio and hopefully both of these narrators will team up again! Gideon's voice was perfectly suited for Cullen. He had his sullen, angry attitude but also vulnerable. Allie was great as Everly and I enjoyed her inner battle to fight her initial attraction to Cullen.

age gap

I love the age gap professor trope and it's so hard to find one with an older woman. Their history added suspense and it was interstitial to see how their history effects their present

Hate to love

Have you ever picked up a book strictly based on a kink? Because that is exactly what I did. And furthermore, I listened to the audiobook and read along on my kindle.

It’s no secret that Burn For Me has some content that would make a few readers/listeners uncomfortable, but it had the opposite reaction on me. The author quickly changed my mind on that when I read a short snippet of this hot and delicious reverse age-gap, and let me tell you.. I am digging this new play in my romance books. So make sure you do your research if you decide to pick this one up, because the content may not be for you.

Aside from all that, I was really invested in this story of revenge. The hate to love trope is also growing on me, but I find that I love to read a book about a younger man/ older woman versus the opposite, as it is something I can relate to in real life. Reading about Cullen and Everly’s growth and feelings for each other was so addictive. I gushed with excitement when things started to get hot and heavy. Allie Martina and Gideon Frost swept me away with their portrayal of these two characters. Each scene maintained a steady flow of emotion and piqued when the time was called for, and those hot and sexy times made my heart race. Would not have had that increased rush of adrenaline had I only been reading.

Tune into this extra hot forbidden romance; a professor/student trope never tasted so good!

Hurt into love

This is a story about hurt lots of hurt for Cullen and Everly. Their pasts are entwined and Cullen is looking to hurt Everly. The way he goes about enforcing his hurt is disturbing but Everly seems to like the pain. I enjoyed that this story was an older woman younger man it’s very rare that I read stories from this perspective.

Enjoyable

This book has a very different storyline which was refreshing. I only wish Cullen was a few years older like 21 or 22. His age was just too young for his behavior.

Dark Bully Romance!

This is the first book in the Spitfire series, a Dark Bully Romance. Everly and Cullen's story is intense and steamy. This bully romance is different than what I have read before. This is an interesting age-gap romance. Everly, a teacher, is 32 and Cullen, a student, is 18. The story is well written and the characters are well developed. I had some mixed feelings about this forbidden romance while reading it, but the plot is interesting, original, and intriguing, filled with drama, mystery and suspense. I read this story before, and liked it. The audiobook version brilliantly brings this story to life. Gideon Frost and Allie Martina did an excellent job with the narration.

Burn for Me

Wow! I love Sara Cate books! She writes amazing books that skim the border of taboo. This a teacher student relationship with deeper and more twisted connections. This also touches on some slight BDSM themes. Then Sara adds her flair. In this book the dom is the 18 year old student. I loved it! This book was 🔥🥵. Allie Martina and Gideon Frost did a phenomenal job narrating.

Hot and intriguing read!

This is a enemies-to-lovers/bully, reverse age gap, teacher/student, forbidden romance that have it all: full of twists and turns, dark drama, it’s also intense and so steamy! A captivating story that was well written. The title literally says it all.
I absolutely loved Cullen and Everly’s story and I loved every part of their dynamic. I can not recommend it enough!
The Narration is amazing! Both narrators Allie Martina and Gideon Frost are new to me. They are very talented and brought this book and all the emotions to life.

LOVED IT!

There is a fine line between love and hate. When passion runs hot, desire is counted into the equation, then you hold on and enjoy the ride. Journalist Everly encounters a blast from the past. Years ago, her story and the evidence within it put 10-year-old Cullen Ayers's father, George Ayers, away for human trafficking. Eight years later, Cullen is eighteen and in her class, where she tutors at the university. Now, he is determined to torment her for destroying and tearing his family apart. But fate has other plans. The chemistry between Everly and Cullen was explosive. Their story is a brilliantly written enemy to lovers' romance; it's passionate, steamy, exciting, and unpredictable. I seriously couldn't get enough.

Allie Martina and Gideon Frost's narration was spot-on. They depicted the character's personalities, emotions, connections, and the intensity of the scenes perfectly. They made the book even more enjoyable. As for Sara Cate, she never disappoints, she is an exceptionally talented author, and her characters are always captivating. Burn for Me was no exception; it's jammed-packed with elements that totally draw you in. I can't wait for the second book in the Spitfire series to be released.

Brilliant

8 years ago Journalist Everly brought a human trafficker George Ayers down with her evidence . On her first day at her new job as a university tutor she realises the boy that was 10 when his dad was convicted is in her class. Cullen Ayers is out to torment her for what she did to his family and how his life has been since. However there’s a fine line between love and hate and things don’t turn out quite as he planned. Fabulous story loved Cullen and Everly and the things they both went through to get where they were at the end had me sat on the edge of my chair in anticipation. Excellent narration from Allie and Gideon.

Wow!

This is one hot commodity! Both the storyline and the delivery by two excellent narrators, make this a compelling, intense listen which hss kept me in its grip throughout! The plot involves deep passion of across the full gamut, from hate and the desire for revenge, to lust, control and love. Both Evelyn and Cullen seem isolated, though Evelyn does have one close friend and a family, while Cullen truly seems to be alone. I have felt totally involved with the outcomes of this collision of two seemingly very different people! 💖💖💖💖💖

Captivating!

Burn for Me has a unique storyline that is captivating, dangerous, hot and full of suspense with some unexpected twists and turns. It is a reverse age gap, bully, student/teacher dark romance. It covers a lot of different tropes and has many potential triggers in it. I've never actually read a reverse age gap romance so it felt a little different to me considering their rather unusual connection but I enjoyed the storyline and would listen to more books by Sara Cate. Allie Martina and Gideon Frost both did an excellent job bringing this story to life.
