Five star listen!!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I thought I had things figured out but NOPE. I didn’t expect all that was going on in this story (not going to spoil it for you) that I absolutely loved! Jacob Morgan did amazing as the Bully King. I can not wait for the second book!!!! Ahhhh come on September and I hope you keep Jacob Morgan to narrate!

Bad narrating and bad overall

Most of the characters personality’s suck, I did not like the female protagonist. Although her story was heart wrenching she was still pretty bland and Cooper was an asshole that I just did not like overall. And I felt no love between them an absolute waste of my time.

Plus Emma Wilder did not make the narration enjoyable. I keep cringing every time she spoke.

Expected better

I fully expected a better story. This one was okay, the build up didn’t match up with the rest of the book. It’s a bunch of cruelty that’s actually really pointless. Wouldn’t recommend. Narration was great and that’s what kept me going

A special kind of coward that squashed my interest

This book started off great with some interesting reverse harem-like stuff going on and I was loving the weird dynamics and interesting characters. The narration was superb, as can be expected from Morgan and Wilder. But the character Cooper ... he ruined the entire book for me. He was not only a coward through and through, but he was nasty to this woman that he supposedly loved and knew how she had gone through all these horrible things. I won't spoil anything, but just suffice to say that Cooper is a real piece of trash with very few redeeming qualities. He lets his daddy control his life, whines and complains at every turn instead of taking action, and relies upon others to do everything for him. He finally admits to some of his serious faults toward the end and how he's going to change, but for me that wasn't good enough. He acted like a teen in high school for most of the book and I was exhausted by him eventually. His friends though!.... I would LOVE to see spin-offs of their love stories because they're interesting and seem to be smarted as well as more emotionally mature than Cooper. Just prepare yourself for this preppy idiot. I tire of him. Anyway, I enjoyed the book still because of the other characters and I can't wait to see if people like Lars and Mona get their own love stories.

Not your typical Bully romance

I love JA Huss' books/audiobooks so I was super excited to see her enter into the realm of the Bully romance market. I have read/listened to plenty of them and I was quite eager to hear her take on the genre. Well, like many things she does, her take was quite unique.

The book starts out much like one would expect a bully romance to with the antihero - bully and his friends determined to make the "poor" heroine's life hell at school - that school being High Court College. Of course the good looking bully king - Cooper Valcourt (his name even sounds royal) and his equally good looking bully buddies, Lars and Ax have history with our fair heroine Cadee, a history that is filled with secrets. But they are not the only ones with secrets. Everyone at High Court College seems to have them and others are prepared to use their secrets against them...

At this school of the uber privileged you have to know how to play the game as secret societies and dangerous players rule the court. There is a lot at stake and not for just for Cadee and Cooper but for all of the players of the High Court College elite. Someone wants to take the crown of the bully king and reveal all of the courts secrets and completely change the game...

What makes this bully book so different from many I have read/listened to is the bigger plot that extends beyond Cooper and Cadee. There is more going on then their relationship to the extent that they sometimes seem secondary to the story. I do love that we are given more intrigue and plot to work with then some typical romances but I think a little more emphasis should be placed on the romance/relationship between Cooper and Cadee. At the heart of this is a love story but it often felt overshadowed by the High Court College drama.

The narration of Emma Wilder and Jacob Morgan was excellent as always and I can listen to just about anything they narrate.

As this is book 1 of the a duet, I am hoping that we see more interaction and romance between Cooper and Cadee .

Overall it was a really good listen and had me wanting to listen to book two as soon as I finished. I am also strangely attracted to the villainous Dante because well he's so good at being bad LOL.

EMMA WILDER has the wrost voice EVER!!!!!!

The story could have been better but I couldn't listen to her voice just made stop listening and then I started just listening to Jacob Morgan's voice but I was missing a lot of the story. J A Huss should have listen before they put this one out and took EMMA WILDER out for the female voice. It just pissed me off

It is sort of a cliffy

This book got me confused in the beginning. Idk if it’s because bully romance is not my go-to or I wasnt in the right headspace. I did enjoy it but I feel like the hold out wasn’t enough for me. I wasnt fond of the MCs. I like Mona better (I hope Julie will write a book about her lol). Im curious what book 2 will bring. I feel like Julie is saving all the best parts and will conclude this duet with the unexpected plot twists I love her for.

Narration was great! Jacob Morgan and Emma Wilder are always good at what they do.

Amazingly Dark and Wonderful Narration!

This is the first installment in the Kings of High Court College Duet. This is an amazingly dark bully romance. The characters are complex, wonderful, and fascinating. I loved to follow Cadee and Cooper, along with Ax, Lars, and the other supporting characters in this wild journey. Cadee is a wonderful, determined, and strong character. Cooper is an antihero, and definitely a secretive, and intriguing character. The storyline is well written, intricate, dark, twisted, and enthralling, filled with secrets, intrigue, secret society, and unpredictable twists and turns. The world building is well developed and captivating. The story does not end with a cliffhanger, but some questions are not already answered. Now, I am looking forward to listen to the next installment in the duet. JA Huss is one of my favorite authors when I need something a little more dark and intricate. She NEVER disappoints. I HIGHLY recommend it.

Roller Coaster Ride!

Ok, so NOT a typical romance story, boy meets girl, yadda yadda. The roles you think people are in the beginning aren’t who they are in the middle or even in the end. But that’s the mark of a good story, and a great storyteller. J A takes you on a ride. The upset in the end was worth the journey.

great

Wow this book is so different from the normal J A Huss books but it is definitely so much her great style. It is very well written and such great world building and introducing completely new and individual characters that your all gonna love or hate and the twists the story takes well Julie never disappoints.
The world of money and power and what length would you go to get it
The bully kings are just that but all is not as it seems and so many underlying things are happening as well
Its a must read
I just loved it and can't wait for book 2 Ruling Class and what happens next?
the voices are just great too

Amazing

Wow did not know what to expect from this author since this was the first time reading their work and wow this was such a good story and that ending. I can't wait to read more of this series and the secrets that will be exposed by the Bully Kings and the new court. I am now a fan.

Wow 😮 Book 1

I'm listening to this story and I'm thinking why would anyone stay or do the things they do. It's not until the last 3 chapters of the story that things really start to fall into place. I'm looking forward to seeing where this is going to go. I certainly didn't see the twist coming.

Dark Bully Romance

Bully King by JA Huss is a dark bully romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Jacob Morgan and Emma Wilder. This is the first book in The Kings of High Court College duet.

This is the first book of JA Huss that I have read and it definitely won’t be my last. This was absolutely amazing! I loved that the book had both Cooper and Cadee’s points of views. It really brings the story to life. This book had me hooked from the first chapter and I just had to know more about Cooper, Ax, Lars, and Cadee. The ending left me speechless. I can’t wait for the next book in the series Ruling Class to be released on September 2, 2020 to get the rest of their story.

Jacob and Emma did an amazing job on the narration. They really brought the story to life. I can’t wait to listen to more of their work in the future.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves Dark Romance, Bully Romance, or College Romances.

WTF Just Happened?

Wow, Bully King takes you for a ride. I'm not usually into this trope but I knew it would be a wild ride if penned by JA Huss and she did not fail to deliver. In the world of the excessively wealthy and powerful, nothing is at seems. These young adults are entitled and bully their way to the top. But pay close attention, because what you think you know, you don't. I spent the majority of the story trying to figure out what the hell was going on and was stupefied when we got the payoff. Again, JA Huss did not fail to deliver. In awe. Mind-blown.

The narration performed by Jacob Morgan and Emma Wilder is excellent. Jacob does such a great job portraying the dominant bully while Emma was perfect as the softer spoken heroine.

NOT what I was expecting

My very first bully romance, and I was so wary of the genre. I thought at least with this author, I would have a good story. In the end, that was NOT what I was expecting.

Sure, don’t get me wrong, there’s still a lot of bullying going on, and it can be pretty disturbing–especially when it’s sexual. Even when the reasons behind the bullying are revealed, it didn’t make me feel better. It’s just too much and I could relate with poor Cadee.

It kept me from understanding the relationship between Cadee and Cooper. Until the end, when it made a little more sense–but just a little bit more.

The whole universe, though, is great. The author once again imagines a secret society with rites and laws and lots of skeletons in the closet. There’s a lot going on in this closed community. That part was fascinating, and I can’t wait to learn more about it in the next book. Hopefully.

Wow

Not usually into this trope but gave it a try as love the author.

What a plot!! The story was complex and kept me guessing! Major rollercoaster of emotions and angst.

The narrators did a perfect job! Jacob Morgan’s narration gave Cooper an authentic voice with inflections of emotion. Emma Wilder’s range as well as beauty of her voice gave me all the chills.

Really looking forward to the next book!
