Publisher's Summary

Widowed rancher Heath Wolfe worries he's making a big mistake by bringing Willow McAllister home to his ranch. A known troublemaker around town, she can't seem to keep a job or avoid skirmishes with the law, so the town marshal implores Heath to help. While Heath agrees to employ Willow, he certainly won't allow misbehavior, and he's even prepared to take the willful young lady over his knee for a sound spanking if warranted.

Orphaned and alone for several years, 19-year-old Willow is used to taking care of herself. She sleeps wherever she can find a soft surface and roams freely. She doesn't drink whiskey every night and she only steals when she has to, so it doesn't seem fair when the marshal insists she give up her freedom to work for Heath. She suspects that the rancher is as humorless as he is handsome.

Heath and Willow are as different as two people can be, but a tentative friendship forms. Old habits die hard, though, and it doesn't take long for Willow to engage in familiar shenanigans. When problems arise, will Heath regret bringing trouble home, or will he get to the bottom of it, once and for all?

Warning: Bringing Trouble Home contains sexual scenes and domestic discipline, including punishment spanking. If you don't like these themes, please don't buy this audiobook.

Trouble is in the house!

In the old west, what do you do when you have children and your wife dies? You bring home trouble! Heath finds himself in need of help around his house. When the marshal suggests he bring home Willow, a young woman who finds trouble, he is hesitant. Willow is far from interested in this arrangement, but to stay out of jail, she is willing to give it the offered month and see how things go. What we have is a a romance you can't resist. I love Amelia Smarts. I know I will get a book full of tension, domestic discipline and love. But there is something about this one I really fell for. I think Heath is a great character, a loving father, a devoted husband and Willow took him by surprise. It was Willow for me that stole the show. She is not your typical old west girl. She is tomboyish in dress, crass and destined for disaster, and the way she matures and changes is so endearing. I also love that this story has interconnecting characters from When he Returns, getting a look at things prior to that book. It gives us that homey feeling, and adds to the enjoyment.

Matthew Keyes does a wonderful job with the narration of the story. He has a slight twang, and he gives Heath that alpha sound. I love that he also has a "father tone" when the marshal comes in. As Willow he could have a little more distinctive female voice, but it is distinguishable from the others. I enjoyed his performance.

love this narrator

Matthew Keyes does an excellent job narrating this western. His voice is one of my favorite reasons for getting this book on audible. I read the book as an ebook, but he brings the story alive!

Loved this story so hard

This is a sweet, sweet story. Great narration that really added something to the story. I just loved how Heath handled Willow. He gave her the space to be who she was while encouraging her to try something new. And the ending was just perfect. If you like sexy, sweet westerns, this is the book for you

Western romance with a touch of BDSM

This is the first book I've read / listen to of Smarts but I have to say I hope it won't be my last. I very much enjoyed this storyline, a troubled young woman rescued by the eligible bachelor everyone wants. I also loved these characters. Willow is defiant and head strong which I loved and Heath is strong but gentle. Great steamy scenes with just a touch of dominance and submission that is oh so swoon worthy. My only problem with this read / listen was the narrator made Heath sound slow - he changed his speech pattern when portraying Heath and it just made him sound daft but he did great when just narrating or portraying the other characters.

Reforming and Loving..3.5 Stars

Willow was left alone, no adult supervision, and an education in men that reflected harshness, bullying and not being very respectful.
Heath had two children and a widower who is losing his housekeeper.
Heath determines he would take Willow home to care for his children and help her also.
A sweet story of good people who find solace in each other and finding an affinity.
Spanking, but done in a way that wasn’t over board.
A good narrator, perfect for a western.

Sexy fun

I loved this story. Feisty girl causes trouble in the town and needs discipline by a strict daddy. Super sexy, dominant fun.

Another great read by Amelia Smarts.

Another great read by Amelia Smarts! I think she did a great job with the characters. We see Willow grow and mature as she takes on the responsibility of keeping house and raising children. Of course, having an alpha male like Heath leading, she had little choice if she wanted to be able to sit comfortably. Although Heath is a strict disciplinarian, he is still gentle and loving with his children and Willow. Although we know how the story will end it is nice to see it progress from a hot mess to happily ever after.
The narrator did a good job. I’m always amazed at the talent of these narrators when they have to switch between characters.
If you are into spanking and steamy sex scenes give this one a listen.

This was almost a perfect story

I love this authors original stories and plot lines. They are a great DePorter from many of the mail order bride and or western romances. Which are predictable although still fun to read I find this authors books or a breath of fresh air. Please forgive me for not remembering her name. Anyway I found Heath to be very hell-bent on control evening whipping her when she said she didn’t think she was attractive and then to prove a point for the first time ever he wants the touch in a private part. I truly enjoyed the story with the exception of the previously mentioned problems he didn’t even say something and just without wanting to back it up with action. Why Willow thought he would be a good catch is beyond me. Who Spanx there me over there but drove all the woman they are recording even for the 1800s that seemed a bit much. Still love her books though and have two more in my library that I am anxious to read. I thought the narrator did a perfect job. I hope he now read more of her books in the future.
