Needs duet narration

The narrator has got a great gravely voice but he’s not so great with female voices. This would have been better if they would have had a female read in her voice.

I loved this book!

First, let me say how much I love Thomas Locklear’s narration. His voices are unique, smooth, and delivered so every line rings with honesty and emotion. His female voices are outstanding- I often forget that I’m listening to a male narrator, he’s that good.

Hawk is an Afghan war vet and military contractor forced to return home when his family is hit with tragedy. He’s closed off, suffering from PTSD and survivors’ guilty, and trying to navigate his way in a civilian world that is foreign to him. Brice is an up and coming tv journalist, working a small market in Missoula, Montana. Their worlds collide, and sparks fly from the start.

Ms. Stone’s books are a fun, sexy listen if you enjoy rough romance and VERY dominant men. Make no mistake though- Brice is very intelligent, soft-reliant, brave, and confident. She faces even what she fears if it means getting to the truth.

Ms. Stone also wrote honestly about the difficulties of a solider transitioning back to civilian life. The PTSD scenes are well-written, empathetic, and believable. I loved seeing these characters learn to open up and trust that they both really are deserving of love.

Special Ops Alpha Male, good mystery, and more

Who could ask for more than an intriguing mystery that brings a tough demanding special ops pro together with a tenacious female journalist, and even though she gets spanked by him in public, their common goals bring them together. And on top of that there is a very young niece who has lost both parents. Lots of threads to pull on the emotions, some very steamy sex, and a good story line.
My first experience of Thomas Locklear as narrator -- I love his voice, though I might not have matched him with this character. But I got over that quickly and hope to find more of his narrations.
My first Piper Stone novel -- I like her work and will look for more of her audio books too.
Go for it!!

Alpha hero impetuous heroine

Really enjoyed the intrigue in this story but was a bit aggravated with the heroine's habit of jumping into the fire without thought. The narration was good for the most part although seemed hurried sometimes.

Piper Stone has written another hot action packed story. It was also heartfelt to the end.
Thomas Locklear is a fabulous narrator! His deep sexy voice will keep you interested. He can draw you right into the characters and you will think you are watching the scenes in person.

Too far across the line

I really struggled with this one. With the title Hawk: A rough romance, I went into it expecting some good kink. But I didn’t get what I was expecting. For me this one crossed the line. There is nothing sexy about abuse.

Seconds after meeting in the store, Hawk ripped Bryce’s skirt off her to publicly spank the hell out of her, during which he got totally turned on. Not only did no one help as Bryce was stripped of her clothing, and assaulted but several clapped. Who knew that being a journalist means you are fair game to be manhandled.

Hawk went on to beat her like 5 times in 2 days. He is described as 6’5 pure brawny muscle and having +150 lbs on her. But apparently he still needed to beat her with his belt, until his arm was too tired to continue but his cock was hard. After that lovely image, as she struggled to get away from him, he roughly grabbed her bruised bottom and said, “I want you. I will have you. And there’s nothing you can do about it.”

As I was given the book for an honest review I continued on, when I normally would have called it quits. After the first few days of beat downs, the story got good. The mystery of what was going on was gripping and engaging. I even found Hawk to be likable.

I would have loved this book if not for the first few chapters of blatant physical and sexual abuse.

The narration was fabulous. Thomas Locklear did an amazing job reading both povs.

Beautiful story and oh so sexy. BUT please don't let this husky sexy male voice do the female POV anymore.

the guys female voice is honestly cringe worthy.

could not get past the second chapter, the female lead was an idiot and the narrator's voice was horrible.
