Publisher's summary

She didn’t know he was watching. Until it was too late. She’d walked this path hundreds of times before; she knew every twist and turn. But today was different. She didn’t know someone was waiting for her, hidden away from view. She didn’t know this was the last time she’d walk this path.

Hidden deep in the forest, schoolgirl Felicity Parker is found carefully laid out on a rock with nothing but a freshly picked bunch of flowers next to her lifeless form. Detective Jenna Alton is called in to investigate the gruesome discovery.

With the body found just off a popular hiking route, Jenna believes the killer is a visitor to the town...until a second local girl is discovered.

Within days, Kate Bright, a school friend of Felicity’s, is found brutally murdered at the local swimming pool, and once again the killer has displayed his victim in a terrifying manner and left flowers at the scene. The town is gripped with fear, and Jenna and her deputy, David Kane, now know that the killer is living among them and that he’s picking off school girls one by one. But they don’t know who is next on the list.

As the trail goes cold, Kane and Alton are forced to sit and wait for the killer to make his next move. But now he has a new victim in his sights, and he’s looking much closer to home....

If you love Robert Dugoni, Karin Slaughter, and Rachel Abbott, you’ll love this nail-biting thriller from D.K. Hood.

The narration ruins this one!

What did you like best about Bring Me Flowers? What did you like least?

I typically enjoy series and am excited when I find a good one. After listening to "Don't Tell a Soul", I thought that this had potential. I really liked the way the characters were starting to develop in the first book and was looking forward to this one, however the narration completely turned me off. I had to fight the urge to stop listening after the first chapter. The narrator's attempts to "American-ize" were unsuccessful - she could not hide the Irish accent and it was EXTREMELY distracting. So, so disappointing!

The Performance Was Awful

I gave this 2nd book 4 stars due to the performance. She was awful. What happened to the voice from the 1st book? Also the editing wasn’t great long pauses between chapters.

Good story line, but wished for a better narrator.

The story line was good but the narrator ruined this book for me.....sad. I could barely distinguish who was who in the book.

Terrible Narrator!

This is a great story and if the narrator that was used for the first book had been used for this book, I would have given it straight fives. This narrator sounds like she has laryngitis and a mouth full of marbles. It was so distracting I could hardly finish the book. I've been listening to audio books for the last 10 years and have listened to hundreds of books and this is the first time I've complained about a narrator.

Too awful to finish

It seemed like a completely different author, the characters had changed personalites and the narration was awful. Very sorry I purchased it.

What’s disconcerting about audio books?

One of the things I find disconcerting about audio books is the narrator.
In this particular story it took me half way through the book to enjoy the story and not be so focussed on the narrator. Having started this book straight after book 1 in the series, I was very out off by the fact that the narrator is not the same as in book 1.
The narrator in book2 had a sort of Irish lilt to her accent and was very different to book 1. It just sounded wrong.
I think that once a narrator is used for one book in a series then that person should continue through the series.
Other than that, I enjoyed the story line and the characters and will be waiting anxiously
For book 3 in the series.

Narrator difficult to listen to through out

The hoarse voice and weird fluctuations between British sounding and western - just didn’t work for me. Distracted from the story

Horrible Narrator

Loved the first book and the Narrator. The second book in the series is great but the Narrator is AWFUL!!! I’m disappointed that there are 3 different narrators for the 4 books in the series. Hopefully the next narrator for book 3 and 4 will be better than this one!!! It’s painful listening to her voice the male characters.

Narration is wooden

I nearly gave up on it within a minute but having read book one I was enjoying the characters and where the story was going.
The narration is wooden it's not read with feeling and I feel that with the right voice it could have been a 5 star book. I did enjoy the story I did get into it but the whole time I was wishing they had picked Jonathan Keeble to do the narration.
I have downloaded book 3 and am hoping the delivery is better to listen to !

Don’t like the narrator, or most of the characters!!

I shan’t be listening to any more in this series. I worked out who the killer was about a third of the way, which was unfortunate. Also the two ex-Forces deputies are just unpleasant. There’s no lightness in either of them. Finally, I just couldn’t get on with the narrator’s voice. These things are so subjective.

Great story, rubbish narration!

The writing is brilliant and the story is great and weaves well but yet again, another story let down by poor narration. But I would still recommend this book.

Good storey bad narration

Loved the second book but the narrator had a very weird accent . I couldn’t get used to it. It’s very off putting when the narrator doesn’t fit the storey in the book.

Good story hard to listen too.

I really enjoyed the first book and couldn't wait to listen to the second but was so disappointed by the narration. Her voice sounded like the robotic voice on the kindle it spoilt the book for me and will in future be looking out for her name and not be downloading any with her name on again.

Good story, woeful narration.

Was looking forward to this book, but the narrator had the most monotone voice ever. I had to skip part of it to get to the end as I could bear it no more. Shame!

A great story..

This is a great story, very well researched and excellently written.
I have listened to the first book and I couldn't wait to hear the second in the series. But the narrator sucked BIG time..

A good story, marred by stereotyping

Plot was quite strong, but romantic aspect was poorly handled. Roles were overly defined and the female character was constantly patronised

Very poor choice of narration

The Narrator’s accent just ruined this book for me it took me week to get through this book, on top of the accent pulling me me out of the story with every word the made little to no attempt to differentiate between characters make it difficult to follow the dialogue when ever multiple characters were present in a scene

Cultural Differences

This novel reminds me why I much prefer British and Australian detective fiction. The obsessive role of guns in American detective fiction is truly off putting. Sadly, I also found the narrator of this tale incredibly grating.

Predictable

I had the killer nutted out early on but I found the male voices monotone which took the enjoyment of listening to the story away. The first book narrator was the same. Not sure I’ll try another.
