From NYT best-selling author Carrie Ann Ryan comes a brand new series where second chances don’t come often, and overcoming an unexpected loss means breaking everything you knew.

Violet Knight fell for Cameron at the wrong time. And when he left, she thought her life was over. But then, after the worst happened, she truly understood what that phrase meant. Now, he’s not ready for a second chance, and she’s not offering one. Though given that their families have been forced together after losing one of their own, she knows there’s no turning back. Not this time. Not again. Not when it comes to Cameron.

Cameron Connolly never wanted to hurt Violet, but there were reasons he had to leave all those years ago - not that she'd believe him if he told her what they were. He not only left her, he also left his foster brothers. Honestly, Cam didn’t want to come back to Denver to help run his father’s failing brewery. But when it comes to his brothers, he knows he’ll find a way to make it work. Perhaps he’ll even earn Violet’s forgiveness and face the connection they both thought long forgotten in the process. Because he wanted her then, but now he knows he needs her. He just hope she needs me.

Of course narration was spot on. JA has become overly breathy and I feel like he sometimes overacting. If that is possible. He does not, in this book.
Author covered suicide with taste and class. The story kept my attention enough. I don't feel like I would've been overly ecstatic, if I had to buy or use a credit. But, I did enjoy it enough to rate it 4.0 across the board.

This was my first Carrie Ann Ryan book and I overall enjoyed it but I felt there was a lot of repetition throughout. The book starts off with the death of Violet’s best friend. *Warning the sensitive topic of suicide is involved and plays a large role throughout* Throughout the story Violet’s internal monologue questions a lot about the death. A lot of the times her internal thoughts would be thinking one thing and then go back to the suicide. I do appreciate that it wasn’t just something that happened and then dropped from the book because it is a sensitive subject and the characters will be dealing with the grief in different ways for years to come, but a lot of the times Violet was just thinking the same things. I mean she could be but as a reader, it’s not something I want to read over and over again. Cameron was the MMC of the book. He was Violets first love. He came back to their hometown to help save his families bar. When he left he broke her heart. I felt like there wasn’t enough groveling. It’s just all of a sudden they are going to try the relationship thing again, the transition wasn’t smooth.

The narrators did a great job! I always enjoy Joe Arden and Maxine Mitchell’s work and this was no different! They brought the book to life.

Overall Ok Listen

Couldn’t really get pass all inner dialog to finish book. Love the narrators. Was trying to push through. Sounded like a plot.

Too much inner dialog.

The name of this series fit... it really is fractured connections. suicide is a tough topic to address. it is done tastefully and I appreciate the characters focused on living vs. trying to find an answer about their friend. the story is sweet but a bit slower than the normal Carrie Ann Ryan books.

Interesting spinoff
