An action-packed progression fantasy featuring a unique power set. For fans of Super Supportive and Worm.
Saving lives is the brand. Ending them is the instinct.
When Vivian gains a superpower that lets her telekinetically apply 10 pounds of force, it seems underwhelming. Hardly super. Almost useless.
On her first night out, however, she finds out how wrong she was as she reduces a man's brain to mush.
F-rank telekinesis. S-rank lethality.
Do not kill. Many think that’s the first rule of being a superhero… and it’s the first one Vivian broke.
Now, pitted against villains, shady corporations, college debt, and the government's brutal hero program, she has to find a way to control her abilities, prove precision is the ultimate weapon, and become the hero she has always wished she could be.
The world has other plans.
Jump into an action-packed new Progression Fantasy from bestseller Aaron Shih where the line between hero and monster is only a heartbeat away. It's perfect for fans of Super Supportive, Drew Hayes' Superpowereds, and Worm.

refreshing take on the superhero

I quite enjoyed the world, characters, and action scenes. However, it felt just shy of greatness for everything. I had a great time with it. Below are all the things that felt slightly off.
The "washers" in the story are cataclysmic in how it shapes the world but the attention given is fairly minor. An entire series could focus on their impact and its a B plot at best.
It was advertised to me on reddit as a progression fantasy but didn't really fall in that genre. Basically all of the "progression" was equipment and training, and extremely minor at that. We do see some power progression in the final chapter but it doesn't matter because the author has said he considers the story finished.
SPOILERS HERE - The ending and the writing also felt at odds. Through the build up of the story, I expected it to be about overcoming difficult challenges and trauma to still do good things. In the final chapter though, Viv just collapses under the weight of the pressure, becomes a mass murderer in the name of vigilante crime prevention, causes an event where the previous one killed 13000 people (and she personally witnessed), and dies.
Solid book rough around the edges
