𝐈 was glued to my headphones with this story! Watching Lincoln Foxx and Faye Calloway go from enemies to lovers was fascinating. The tension between them had me completely hooked from the first chapter!

𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐧 tough private investigator Faye reluctantly returns to her hometown of Fiasco, Kentucky, she knows she shouldn't be there, especially after promising Lincoln to stay away. But their chemistry is palpable, creating a complex love story that keeps you wanting more. Faye's boldness and confidence clash with Lincoln's seriousness in a way that's both entertaining and addictive to watch. Those steamy interactions between them were my favorite parts!

𝐀𝐧𝐝 let's not forget about the duet narration by 𝐋𝐞𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐮𝐞𝐥𝐬 and 𝐌𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐧 𝐖𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐬. They really brought depth and emotion to the characters' journey. This is the second book of Victoria Wilder’s Bourbon Boy series that follows the Foxx Brothers who they say not to fall for, but you can’t help but do it any ways.

Lincoln Foxx told Faye Calloway to stay gone from Fiasco, Kentucky five years ago. She did just that until an opportunity presented itself to return home under the guise of a Burlesque dancer at Lincoln’s best friend’s speakeasy, Midnight Proof.

Anyone looking for a single-dad romance with suspense will appreciate this one. His love for his daughters is beautiful and its clear that he will do anything for them to ensure that they will always be protected. Lincoln is most definitely the Bourbon nerd of his family, leaning hard on the chemical process of producing bourbon but he is also the muscle that you don’t see coming.

Faye is just a badass! Easily one of my favorite female characters to date as she is whip smart, sexy, and doesn’t take crap from anyone.

The angst and lust is heavy between these two and they soon find themselves giving into the desire that first sparked when Lincoln stumbled upon Faye cleansing herself from the sins she apeared to have committed.

secrets come to life

Feye has to come back to Fiasco, Kentucky for her next up PI gig but also to dance at the new hot local bar, where she said goodbye to her sister and mom just five years ago thanks to Lincoln and just a little blackmail. This starts out with hate in the form of spicy banter- bickering until the chemistry just gets too hot for them both. This one we get some good twists and turns with the romance suspense underneath the pure spicy romance. Single dad Lincoln is not only a smoke show he is a great dad and his girls, who will win you over plus their dog and highland cow. We get family drama on both sides, regret, secrets and more secrets, and bourbon and more bourbon.

Lee matched up with Lincoln and Megan did with Feye as well. Megan had a smoky voice that matched up with the dancer/ PI she was. I enjoyed the audiobook a lot - kept me engaged with the story and these two matched up really well with the scenes- sassy, suspenseful, and loving perfectly.

Excellent narration!

I love this series so much and hearing the audio just makes it feel even more real! The narration just made it that much better of a story. Great job!

Now, let's talk about the narration! This engaging duet features the fantastic talents of Lee Samuels and the phenomenal Megan Wicks. Megan brings Faye to life with a performance that is nothing short of mesmerizing; her sultry rasp perfectly captures the essence of the character—seductive yet completely relatable. Lee, on the other hand, portrays the brooding, irritable single dad, Lincoln, with precision. His smooth, resonant voice adds incredible depth and nuance, breathing life into Linc’s complex personality. Together, these narrators create a captivating dynamic that perfectly conveys the story's tension and emotional undertones. Their performances kept me fully immersed, glued to the narrative, and electrified!

Audiobook was great but the story wasn't as captivating

I could not get enough of the first book of the series, but I didn't like this one as much. I don't think the storyline was as suspenseful, nor do I think the spice was as spicy. It was still good! I just liked the first one better.

When that case lands her right back in her hometown, she doesn't what to expect for a welcome and attempts to avoid Lincoln as much as she can. But in a small town, news travels fast and with these two being neighbors, she could only hide from him for so long. Attempting to hate each other when their attraction is electric and Lincoln's girls have become enamored with Faye becomes a fleeting fantasy. These two are drawn together like magnets. They share secrets that no one else would understand, and as things escalate with her investigation, the Fox family finds themselves in the middle of her mess. Protecting her family and theirs from the evil ruling the town becomes her priority and she will do whatever it takes to keep her newfound happiness safe and sound.
Another beautifully written, rich storyline from Victoria Wilder. I love how all these stories have an over-arching mystery that's driving the underbelly of the series and I am diving into Bourbon and Proof as I write this!
Lee Samuels and Megan Wicks were so good in this story. I have heard Lee on so many different titles and somehow he embodies the character he's portraying so well every time I never feel like they blend together. I always love his performances and I can't wait for the next one. Megan is new-to-me and her unique register of her voice is something so special compared to a lot of other female performers, I'm excited to encounter her work again.

Some of the Best Narration I Have Heard

I have to say I loved this book through every page! Victoria brings you a great mix of tropes and delivers them in the best ways. You get the single dad, a burlesque dancer, a small age gap, and so many secrets with bourbon tastings that turn into so much more!

Lincoln is the single dad that is everything you want in a man. He is a lover, fighter, protector, and so dang sweet with the ladies in his life. The man has the best heart, and I swooned over this man!
Faye is trying to keep the secrets that she ran from years ago. This woman is one of the strongest of the female characters I have read. I loved the way she would do anything to keep her family safe! But when she returns home, she gets more than some bourbon!

Lee Samuels and Megan Wicks delivers this book to your ears in the most perfect way. I was hooked with the story, but I was captured by the duet narration.
Lee Samuels is always one I liked, but this has to be his best work. He has perfected the voice of Lincoln and the other men in this book. I loved the gruff voice he had when narrating this one.
Megan Wicks is amazing! Her raspy voice was perfect for Faye! She definitely was the best choice for this character. Even Megan's charisma came through as Faye dazzled people with her shows.

This series is already a favorite of mine, and I can't wait to get to the next book! Victoria is also an author I will go back and read her backlist!!

Great story and narration

This is single dad Lincoln and burlesque dancer and private eye Faye Calloway’s story set in Fiasco, Kentucky and one I thoroughly enjoyed.

There were equal parts of suspense and romance which made for an entertaining read/listen.

From the first chapter I was hooked and I was on the edge of my seat whilst reading/listening.

I enjoyed the banter between all the brothers, it added an additional layer to the story. As did Linc’s daughters who at times stole the book.

I love the relationships they have with their uncles and the one they developed with Faye melted my heart.

Lee Samuels and Megan Wicks did a good job of narrating the characters in a variety of voices and brought the story to life for me, doing justice to the story that the author created. Both their voices were easy to listen to and I found myself invested in their performances.
