Unexpectedly wonderful!

The book was fascinating even knowing nothing about music . The narrator’s pacing enhanced the story.

Spectacular!

This was a wonderful story! The entire time was engaging and relatable. All the characters I felt I could relate and understand, i felt so connected to Claude and his life.
His growing up was so well written it surrounded me like a movie. The writing wasn’t overly descriptive, I was able to put some details together myself and yet not miss anything…
The depth of each character’s life adversity was brilliant and gave such a great view of the world and life in that time… it was so raw and honest.
The narration was fantastic and was consistent and easy to follow.
Overall a brilliant, beautiful story 💜

A Masterpiece

This book is a masterpiece. I had read it about 20 years ago, and I wanted to experience it again here on Audible. I was not disappointed. The story is very captivating, and the narration is very, very good quality and does justice to the work. It takes some patience to get through, but it is very fulfilling emotionally and one feels very sympathetic with the all the characters in the story. I highly recommend this book.

I read this book many years ago and found it profound and moving. The audio version is no less so. It’s a really great creation.

Took a chance on this one and it paid off. One of my favorites. The character development is done so well, great story and moves at a good pace. I wish it had been longer!

American Success

probably not a book that would appear on best books of 2025 but a fulfilling experience if one is familiar with music and life in NYC in the 50s. The reader was excellent and the book memorable, the main character unforgettable.
