Love this!

Another great book in the ricin high series by L.a cotton.

This is the perfect read if your looking for something short sweet and swoony. The story for this is great and I loved the characters. I have read a few other books in the series before this one so it was great seeing into the past for those characters and how they began.

I was expecting more drama when it came to Kendal so that kinda felt a little underwhelming but I enjoyed the rest of the story. It was a steady pace and easy to read and characters that are easy to love and cheer for when they finally got their HEA.

The narrators were great and did an amazing job. This is a dual pov book so you hear from both narrators equally which I enjoyed. The tone of their voice was perfect and suited the characters perfectly. I will definitely be looking out for more of their work.

Love this series so much. Great job.

Great Introduction to the series!

This is a prequel to the Rixon High Series, a High School Sports Romance, This is the Rixon Raiders next generation series. Miley and Avery's story is beautifully written, sweet, and heartwarming. Avery, the star quarterback and the team captain, is handsome, and popular. Avery is lovely, naive, and determined. They are opposites attract. Their journey to love is filled with angst, and drama. This is a cute enemies-to-lovers romance. I liked the friendship and the brotherhood in this story. Lee Daniels and David Black did a great job with the narration. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listening to Off Limits, the first book in the series. #TheFlock

This is so good!

Avery the football “god” and Miley “the”snitch” are featured in this novella. Avery and Miley got to know each other in their Junior year of high school when he was the quarterback and she was in the cheering squad. Avery didn’t know she was there to write an article about the football team and how they received preferential treatment… and when the article came out, he felt betrayed by her. He completely wrote off anything that happened as a big mistake, and Miley is heart-broken.

When Miley is assigned to do another story about the football team, this time at the request of the coach and the principal, she is assigned to follow Avery and see how hard the team works. He’s angry….. and she’s not thrilled either.

Can they be civil long enough for Miley to redeem herself with the team? Or will they continue to be at odds?

This is good…. And it leads into Lily’s story and I am anxious to know more!!!

Raiders for the win! ❤️

This prequel is a quick listen and I loved every minute of it. David Black performed great and it was so cute when he would voice the female characters in his chapters. Lee Daniels voice is soothing. I adore this pair. Gah, the angst… the author knows how to play with my emotions. It is a quick story, sexy and overall amazing.

Amazing start to the series

Amazing short story prequel to what is going to be a mind-blowing new spin-off series, with the next generation of Rixon High School. Avery and Miley's story kicked off with a great story, great drama, and angst, just the way LA Cotton knows how to deliver. I can't wait to see what comes next for this new generation. The narration by Lee Daniels and David Black was good, it certainly went with the characters.

Rixon High!!!

Blurred Lines (A Rixon High Prequel) is the start to the next generation kids of Rixon Raders. I was so excited for this series as I loved the parents. I just wish I would have read this before listening to the audio. Reason below. The world building is well detailed and leads you into this world of Rixon High. I like the characters and enjoyed getting a glimpse of the parents. A good start to this new sports romance series.

Lee Daniels, David Black dual narration was not my favorite due to the male narrator. I enjoyed Lee Daniel's performance of Miley Fuller. Her inflection changed with the characters emotions. She was a great choice. Her inflection was age appropriate, sweetly appealing to listen to. David Black's inflection was older than the part and his performance seemed forced and I didn't enjoy it. I didn't feel chemistry between the narrators.

Good Novella

Miley wasn’t the most popular person at the school as last semester she wrote a piece exposing the football team a showing they got preferential treatment. This semester she’s tasked with writing another piece showing the team in a better light and she’s to be shadowing their star quarter back Avery. Can she redeem herself after her scathing report and how will Avery react to having her shadow him.

Blurred Lines

This is a prequel for the Rixon High series. This is a short story that follows Avery the star QB. I really enjoyed getting a little back story before jumping into Lily’s story in book 1. Lee Daniels and David Black did a great job narrating this book.

Great to be Back in Rixon! Awesome Story & Listen🎧

This is an awesome enemies-to-lovers romance, L.A. Cotton masters young adult, new adult contemporary romance she also masters world building with this series spinning off of her amazing “Rixon Raiders” series with the children of the main characters from that series. This book and series stands on its own so you do not need to have read the Rixon Raiders series to enjoy this one, but I recommend that you do mainly because it is an awesome series. This Rixon High prequel is Avery Chase and Miley Fuller’s story, Avery is Rixon High’s star quarterback and of the of Hailee and Cameron. Avery is writes for the school newspaper and last year she went undercover for an investigative assignment covering the football team. Football is life for many in that school so she was an instant enemy when that article came out. But the coach wants her to come back this year to write another article to show how hard the athletes work and to shed a better light on the team and he wants her to shadow Avery, something he and the whole team is not happy about but they have to do what coach says. Avery and Miley have history, there is also chemistry between them but Avery hates her for what she did and Miley is sad about that but tries to explain to him she was doing what it took to get her a scholarship to the college of her choice. Can she make him see that, can he look past what she did and worry what others would think if he did or will he keep fighting the attraction. The author fit an impressive amount of story in this novella sized book and there is never a dull moment and plenty of drama, angst, heartfelt emotions and a slow burn, romance. It was great to see the characters of Rixon Raiders in adult roles and parenting. L.A. Cotton, thank you for another great story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 And for the fabulous narration, Lee Daniels and David Black are the perfect cast to bring these characters and their story to life. They had a complete understanding of the characters they portrayed, gave each a voice that fit that character’s persona to a tee, sounding believable and just as I pictured the characters to sound. David Black nailed it as Avery and Lee Daniels did the same for Miley, both were amazing performing all the secondary roles. They set the perfect tone for the story, captures all of the characters emotions and projected them into their performance. These talented voice artists are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for this fantastic listen.

Great start to the series!

Is it worth your reputation for a scholarship? Miley Fuller is finding out just how much of a toll her article about the football team has taken on her life. Now she has been assigned to shadow Avery, the team quarterback, to show just how dedicated and hard working the athletes are. Though there is chemistry between the couple, Avery cannot see past her deception and bad light she put on the team. He will not hear her side either, as she tries to get in her dream college. But as she is harassed by his teammates and her friendship with his sister, it's hard for him not to truly see her. Will he give into his feelings and conscience? Will Miley give him a chance? In true LA Cotton style, we are treated to the children of the Rixon Raiders series players. It's so fun to see how these characters have grown up and had kids of their own, still dealing with the same teenage angst and problems. It's easy to fall into the lives of these characters, and Avery with Miley are the perfect start to this series.

Lee Daniels and David Black tell us this story with wonderful performance. Miley is strong and resilient, and Daniels proves her worth with a voice that holds a hint of vulnerability, but incredible strength. Black creates Avery as the perfect young adult boy with his own mind and huge heart. I loved these two together and can't wait to continue the series.

My Thoughts on Blurred Lines

This was the perfect little kick off to a new generation of Rixon Raiders. I loved the first generation so was more than happy to jump in and read about that group’s kids. Avery and Miley had a rough start that was well described even from an after the fact standpoint. Their present day POV showed them being thrown together and having to sort through feelings that had been sparked in their past. But I liked that it also showed what kind of people they really were. That being good, relatable types who I easily connected with. It made their HEA easy to root for. While this story stopped while they’re still in their senior year for this novella, I hope that we get to see more of them in future.

The narrators did a great job. I really liked their tones overall and the variations for different characters, but I also liked that they were believable as high school seniors.

Blurred Lines

This Rixon High series is the second generation from the Rixon Raiders series which I loved. This book focuses on high school seniors, Avery and Miley. I really enjoyed their story but felt like it easily could have been expanded to a full-length novel as the whole thing felt a bit rushed. I am looking forward to listening to the rest of this series. L.A. Cotton did a great job gaining my interest in Lily and wanting to know her story which I believe is the next one. Lee Daniels and David Black both did a good job bringing this story to life.
