Publisher's summary

With a thriving parahuman accounting practice, a steady relationship, and a circle of trusted friends, Fred's undead life has become more enjoyable than his normal one ever was. Unfortunately it also seems that he's no longer the only vampire to appreciate the up-and-coming city of Winslow, Colorado. A new clan of vampires is moving in, and they aren't well known for tolerating outsiders in their territory.

Now Fred must cope with the growing presence - and threat - of other vampires even as he struggles to keep up with his business' demands and make time for his friends. Between hidden parahuman towns, crazed vampire hunters, quarreling mages, and the world's least subtle spy, it will take all of Fred's wiles just to keep his head above water. And as the new clan sinks their fangs deeper and deeper into his city, the undead accountant is faced with a choice between two equally unappealing options: flee his home or stand against an entire clan of fellow vampires.

Fearless Fred strikes again

What about Kirby Heyborne’s performance did you like?

Kirby Heyborne has the perfect voice to be Fred, it's completely how I would imagine it in real life.

Any additional comments?

I thought this was a lighthearted easy listen. You get to enjoy a new perspective on being a vampire that is less scandalized then the usual way they are portrayed. The only problem that I really had with this story, was that each story started by reiterating the same information (i.e. how he's now a vampire, and an accountant). This allows each story to stand alone, but is slightly less appealing when listening to them all consecutively.

how to make boring in to fun

this book and ita prequels are all great. the only down side is that its only the third book. the story of Fred needs more books and it would be fun to know more about the extended universe this book exist in. also the narator is perfect for this bool. 5 stars all around.

God I Love This Series

Would you consider the audio edition of Bloody Acquisitions to be better than the print version?

Yes.

What other book might you compare Bloody Acquisitions to and why?

Indexing by Seanan McGuire. They both have a season-of-a-series-rather-than-a-book-feel.

What does Kirby Heyborne bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He is able to bring the characters to life in a way that the print version is just not able to.

In movies their are the "safe characters" the kind that are simple yet very fascinating that most actors can play and almost no can say they did a bad job. Then their are actors who can take the stupidest, blandest and/or boring character/s and make the most enjoyable character/s of the entire movie. And finally you have those rare times when one of those great actors portrays one of those "safe characters" and you get one of most compelling performances of all time.

This is the audible equivalent of those kind of performances.

Any additional comments?

I have said before and I'll say it again. This is one of my favorite series of all time. I really can't say anymore than buy it, you won't regret it.

A masterful listen

The third book in the Fred, vampire accountant series is another great addition to the series. The book is well written and I love how the author mixes in action, humor and storytelling. The same cast of characters are back with a few new ones added in. You never know quite where the tale will take you next but it will always be an adventure. I can’t wait for the next in the series to be made into an audiobook!

Kirby Heyborne does an amazing job with the narration. All the characters are unique and he really brings the story to life. He really adds to the enjoyment of this story.

!Love Fred. Need more

I still enjoy this series. You should read this in order to appreciate the relationships. Loyalty and Friendship are the themes of this series and theme in this book. There is some action, I mean there are vampires and assorted other paranormals. In books one and two you will can get a demonstration of the various powers. This book will not give you that exposure. As Fred goes around returning clients’ tax documents you get glimpses into paranormal action/powers for different species.

There are rules and processes to vampires moving into new territory. Unfortunately, his friends cannot do much to help with his dilemma. If you have followed the series, you know that Fred will not ask his friends to put themselves in a compromising position.
The real conflict is, should Fred stay in Winslow where everyone he has come to know and love reside or will he have to run? Fred is not a physically active person. He prefers to solve problems amicably. Fred is an oddity. Vampires rule by imitation. If you are familiar with the series you know it is engrossing to watch Fred be Fred. I enjoyed this book. As a matter of fact, I am going to reread book two. I missed a character’s/entity’s story somewhere down the line. This is an easy enjoyable read, which does not disappoint.

Yet another amazing score!

Who was your favorite character and why?

I really love Krystal a lot; her go-getter no bull attitude really resonates with me and my personality. She helps the evolution of Fred into a more engrossed and interesting character.

Any additional comments?

I had read a lot of other comments on here so I was a little mixed on what I was getting into. The story is still segmented but less disconnected than previous books. It flows very well and I was completely in love with almost every character in Fred's friendship circle.

Terrific

The writing tells the story, and keeps the plot going, while the narrator is part of story.

Just plain excellent.

Amazing!

I'm not sure what I expected when I began listening to this series, but I am hooked! It's smart, witty, and engaging. The narrator is stellar as Fred and I can't wait to hear what's next..... hopefully soon!

Another classic in the making!

Drew Hayes has perfected the art of creating bands of lovable misfits. This series is just one of the many perfect examples of his immense talent in that regard. The characters are what make his books and Freds gang is one of the best. Love it
