Into it!!

Lots of swearing and that’s refreshing! I love the vampire it’s different then a normal vampire. I’m just a little off because I don’t understand why the 3rd book is available on audio but not the second book, so now I have to wait that out. Bummer

this is the WORST books EVER!!!!!

i gave up with about 2 hours to go. If youre looking for a possessive alpha smutty romance. THIS IS NOT IT. maybe the romance would kick in the 2 hrs but i highly doubt it. yes the H is possessive but not in the manner of a book boyfriend you fall in love with. Take this review from someone who have read hundreds of books. SAVE YOUR SELF! This book does not get better. im mad that i spent over 9 hours waiting for the romance promised!

Slow Burn Tantalizer

This book sizzles in a slow burn of rich decadence.

Normally that's not the kind of book I go for, but I promise this is so much better than I could have anticipated.

14 hours of character development, world building in a pseudo dystopian fashion, and adventure.

When the book starts, I'll admit I nearly asked for a refund. The h is not in any way relatable at the front: a spoilt brat looking to live like the common people do. Riches to rags, and all that jazz, like a dystopian reverse of Cinderella. But the character development was incredible, and despite the fantastical world of vampires and the bloody follow through the discovery - her development is believable.

And the H...well, let's just say there's more to this story than anyone anticipated. Sultry, sexy, and oh so tempting, Kyros is anything but ordinary.

This is a very unique story. It's not the normal vampire blood sucking inferno that you can get almost anywhere - but a truly original story. I can't really go into it because it would ruin some of the more interesting plot developments, but its truly a supernatural battle worth its weight.

Despite the novel length, I felt drawn to each page. When I wasn't able to listen to the audio book, I was absorbing the book, flipping back and forth because I wasn't able to put it down.

And even though the burn is slow, its sizzles oh so bright the entire way through. This isn't some chase romance that you are begging to get going: the h and H are explosive and dynamic - a true enemies to lover type approach. And while the first book doesn't by any means complete the story, it was a satisfying first installment, and I cannot wait to get into more.

This is my first Kelly St. Clare novel, and I cannot wait to dive into more.

It was ok.

I loved her spunk and sassy attitude, however I didn't like her attitude towards the prince! It was ridiculous for the entirety of the book and I got so upset after the 3 or 4th time they kept getting "interrupted" as well! Narrator was excellent a always!!

No. Just No

Not sure why this book is so highly rated. Personally I can't get into a book if I don't like the main characters and she had no redeeming qualities and he was 2 dimensional and flat. She is supposed to be this rich socialite who feels for the peasants in her society so she leaves a position of power where she could have done more for those she supposedly felt for to go play at being a pauper? Because its a freaking choice? I'm sure my personal politics probably skewed my perception of this book but I also was never one for heroines who make spoiled brat decisions, then lament when others have to suffer for their bad choices but then continue to make stupid AF decision all while playing the victim. No. Just no. All that being said I wish the author spent more time developing the world she created and less on the internal musings of a spoiled little rich girl. The concept of vampires and the game they created to determine a winner was refreshing and I would recommend the book on the strength of that alone. I wanted to know more about that but not enough to buy the next book. I cant listen to the heroine anymore she was insufferable

It was Okay!

I have to start by saying that Amanda has done an awesome job narrating the story and bringing the characters to life. I became a big fan of her work after the tainted accords series. I went into this book with high expectations, thinking it is going to be an epic, fantastic ride like tainted accords. Maybe that was my problem. I enjoy badass heroine who make men double their size second guess all they know. I love relationship that build over time. I enjoy smud but it has to come with feeling and character building. I hate it when it get shoved into my throat so early even if there are magical reasons. At about chapter 14 or so, I considered giving up on this book but I am happy I kept going. The story got better but still felt like I have read this same story several times before. I was looking for something unique and amazing ... and got okay instead. I am not sure I would listen to the next book when it comes out. Honestly, the story is not unique or special enough for me to remember.

All Good

I absolutely love this story!!! And it's narrated by one of my favorites!!! What's more, I love the humor and suspense between Bassie and Kyros as well as his siblings hilarious tryst on his nerves, lol!!! I have read this saga 3 times already and keep finding myself wanting to come back to it...Amazing!!!

Great start to a different kind of vampire story

I really enjoyed this book, I like Basi even though she gets a little bit annoying here and there, you know the rich girl not happy with the life of a rich girl and goes out on her own but can’t seem to handle anything on her own but then slowly as the story goes on I feel she gets better and becomes more of the person I was hoping for. I love her best friend Tommy. Then the book starts to get exciting when we meet Kyros and his true nature is revealed and all the details of the game comes out.
As the story progresses Basi shows more and more of an independent side, a brave side, and a generous, loving soul. Her and Kyros have such chemistry, but it isn’t one of those Insta love stories, which is nice. I liked his sibling most of the time and thought it was funny how they did or said things to Basi to get to Kyros. I hated how her relationship with Tommy suffered and the terrible news at the end.

Loved the book, not the narrator

I have read this series and many other by Kelly St Clare. I’ve loved the world that she created and have always been intrigued by the intricacies. When the narrator started, I was ecstatic! The voice matched the character in my head perfectly. But as the story went on, I became more and more frustrated. There were so many times that I could literally hear whenever a line had to be redone. There was almost like… a pause. And then when she spoke again, it was like she wasn’t sitting in the exact same position, her pitch was off and it jarred me out of the story. The first time it happened, I thought it was a fluke. Then it happened again. And again. And again and so many times that I finally lost count. The only reason I continued to listen is because A: I’d already bought the book. And B: for the sake of the author and knowing the book itself. My personal opinion? Loved the narrator for this series, but definitely needs to be re-recorded to fix the glaring issues.

Enjoyable

I didn’t think I’d come round to the heroine, but I did as the book went on.

Absolutely brilliant!

This is my kind of heroin - sarcastic, intelligent, resourceful, observant and generally not afraid of her own thoughts and feelings, completely in denial about a few things of course but then what 21 year old wasn't.
I loved the mix of realistic and romanticised vampire lore and you know ... blood actually tasting like blood. Getting Divergent undertones but with vampires and without the whole post-apocalypse event.
Oddly lacking in steam for something listed under the Erotica genre though. There's promise of more in later books but it was remarkably tame.
The narrator was fine. Not the best I've heard but decent enough.

Love

I love this series! It is one of my go to books when i need a good book to reread!
I love the spunk that Kelly St. Clare writes with, There is depth, there is a decent story to hook you and keep you intrigued with the super hot & cold characters but a good amount of humor to lighten it.
