Publisher's Summary

Deep in the Appalachian Mountains, a monstrous evil rises, and the only one who can stand against it is a teen-age witch who doesn't believe in magic.

Grieving and lost after the death of her parents, Jenny Morgan is sent to West Virginia to live with an aunt she's never met. It's there that Jenny is confronted with an unbelievable family heritage of witchcraft and magic - something she immediately dismisses as old-fashioned superstitions. However, once her new home is threatened by deadly horrors straight out of myth and folklore, her aunt's stories become impossible to ignore.

Now Jenny and her three new friends - friends with dark secrets all their own - are the only ones who stand a chance of stopping the growing evil, but only if Jenny can embrace her arcane heritage. Little does Jenny know that wielding her power will attract the attention of an even greater evil - the same immortal entity her parents died to protect her from.

Magic, ghosts, and mysterious death

Jenny’s parents were just found dead and she’s sent to live with an aunt she’s never known. She comes to find out that she has magic even though she disbelieves these things until faces with a woman who might be behind the deaths of her parents. Will Jenny rise to the task? Will she accept her heritage? Great characters and gripping story.

Good

A good introduction to what looks to be a series of books since there were a lot of little loose ends left at the end.
The Narrator did a good job for what looks to be one of her first gigs.
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Lots of action

An interesting mix of characters comes together with a creative mix of monsters and confused motivations to create a story packed with action, twists and turns, and some romance.

The world building was really well done, I spent the whole book picturing everything that was happening. The book came alive for me.

The characters are well crafted and feel whole and real, their actions seem natural and they're easy to connect with.

Thoroughly entertaining this book left me wanting more even thought the story ends at a good stopping point. I enjoyed my glimpse into this world and I want more of these characters and the world they're in.

I enjoyed the narration, the pacing and phrasing carried the emotions of the story and the character voices were believable.

I received a free copy of this book from the author and/or narrator and/or publisher and I voluntarily wrote this honest review.

excellent characters and storyline!

Excellent addition to the series!  The story continues to keep you engaged as new and old characters continue to surprise you with how they deal with transpiring events. The inner dialog is a bitty chatty but once you adjust you do get used to it.

I look forward to seeing how this series progresses.

Appalachian Folklore Story turns Paranormal!!

I purchased this Audible book and listened to it on Audible.
This story is in a part of West Virginia in backhill Appalachian Mtns and starts out as a possible folklore tale that sublely turns into a Great Story that goes Wonderfully sideways!! I can not wait to start book 2 on Audible. I highly recommend this book not only for YA but All ages.

Appalachian Adventures

I love the fun and humor incorporate in the way the author turns such turn of phrases like "around the bend" and gives it a new perspective. The plot is fun, characters engaging.

A backwoods urban fantasy

This audiobook was so much fun! It’s such a fun mix of old fables and American folklore. It’s a cool new perspective of witches that I haven’t seen very often. Instead of having powers inside that they can hurl at each other, it’s all about talismans, protective wards, and monsters. I really enjoyed it.

A fantastic blend of mythology, magic, and mayhem!

I have long been addicted to pulp graphic novels like Planetary, and 'fantasy-meets-sci fi' books like The Warlock in Spite of Himself. Blood Creek Witch scratches the "I need more of that" itch in a super satisfying way. Similar to Planetary, I sincerely loved how this story brings actual urban legends to life in a way that makes sense, and even provides a logical explanation for how the legends began in the first place.

The cast of characters are all lovable and the villains are ..well.. villainous. But most importantly they are all believable. Each individual has a reason for being the person they way they are and character development throughout the story is appropriate and balanced. This book is packed with action, but never in a superfluous way. Things don't get crazy without a good reason. The madness has motivation...

The narration of the Audible book is great... but I can't say that I absolutely *loved* it. I fully admit that I am a total narration snob though, so you can take my critique of that element with a grain of salt. I have become spoiled by listening to the flawlessly clear voices of orators like Neil Gaiman or Mike Rowe. The narrator of this series does do a great job, and most importantly she brings life and personality to each individual character. You know who is speaking just by the way she alters her voice to become that character, and she is consistent from start to finish.

In summary, I LOVED this book and I can't wait to dive into the next one in the series!

A great storyline for all ages.

It took me a while to get through the audiobook, it seems l am a much better reader than I am a listener! That being said, I really enjoyed the story and thought it was both well written and well read/narrated. This is a great story for either ya or adults in my opinion. A fantastic plot line, great characters and some fantastical ideas. I can't wait to see what happens next, although l think I'll go for the ebook next time!

I received a free copy of this audiobook in return for an honest review.
