Publisher's summary

Reeling from her losses and trying to regroup, the Great White Shark of psychic investigation turns her focus on self-improvement, though her remaining friends call it self-flagellation. Marnie is determined to move forward at maximum warp, trauma be damned. A prospective client named Beau Boudreaux shows up in her office with a peanut butter addiction and a plea for Marnie to protect him from his ex-girlfriend: Pestilence, the First Horseman of the Apocalypse. His story is hard to swallow, but heading off Armageddon seems like a spiffy distraction.

That is, until the Blights descend, and Marnie realises that all her nightmares are about to come true. Running with a lighter crew and a busted heart, can Marnie get her act together and solve the riddle of Beau Boudreaux before the End Times come a'knockin'? Or will the Blightmare become her new reality?

Best ever. More please.

Hopefully without a spoiler, there will be many more books in marines files. I will definitely find out. Living again the great storylines, the laughs and the tears, there must be more to cme.

Disappointing?

Way too much of this book is just a Marine pity party. Like I totally get it, but a grieving Marnie is not my idea if a fun read. It was to be expected, but it got old real fast and overstayed its welcome. Genuinely considered skipping this one; it just felt like such a huge waste of time.

This is more of a personal gripe however. I can definitely see people enjoying the book. After all, it's more or less still the same Marnie we know and love. Kinda. I really hope Marnie is back to being Marnie for the next book cus this was really boring.

I feel bad saying this because I really like the author and I understand why much of this was needed but wow was it boring. Still giving it full stars as again, just a personal gripe. It's still a decent book as usual.

Hilarious, witty, great Narration.

I really can't get enough Marnie! The books are written really well The characters are well developed, pretty awesome. And the narrator nails the main character everytime. the story continues to grow but still has closure.

lots of laughter -spoilers

The narration is perfect! The emotion she threw into it was amazing.

the storyline was pretty great too! I liked the adventure, the couple new characters were very good too! I really liked the addition of a new likeable cop friend, love hoods helping her train and being there for her! also way to go on adding the e cigg way cooler for Harry and I fully support his change to that.

the storyline moves forward super well, marnie keeps growing and changing which I love. I was in complete shock on her stupidity of meeting with the creepy doctor and letting the Dr drug her happily like a total idiot that didn't totally jive with me on her character. because she had been warned the guy wasn't on the up and up and just ran into his arms it was weird. I didn't like the dragon "worm" as a choice of transformation I think a kitsune would have been way better she totally should have been that way cooler and suits marnie way better in my humble opinion.

not as stoked on batton being undead. that relationship im not as invested in. I love marnie and her relationships with everyone but batton. but I'm excited to see where it can go if the future and maybe the author will change my mind.

There Is Hope for the Future!

I have to say that AJ Aalto managed to surprise me and revive my love for her as an author. I was devastated by what happened at the end of Wrath & Bones. I wasn't sure I even wanted to read Blightmare. Howevef, I am so glad I did! The author ripped my heart out in the last book and she healed it with this one. It takes a very talented writer to make you go from loving her to hating her to loving her again. I've been on quite the emotional journey over these last two books. And, may I say, the ride has been worth every moment spent on it. I was so angry when I reviewed Wrath & Bones that I gave away the ending. Now, I truly regret doing that. Lesson learned. I have no idea how AJ Aalto is going to pull off the future she hinted at in the end of Blightmare. I look forward to continuing the journey to find out! Amy McFadden once again took me on an emotional rollercoaster with her narration. actually, it's even more than that. It's an Oscar worthy performance. I cried, laughed, hoped, wondered... You name the emotion, I probably felt it. I look forward to her next performance in the next Marnie Baranuik book.

I enjoyed this series

I really enjoyed seeing Marnie grow in this series. She was timid in the first book but got more and more confident in each new book. The day sitter relationship is new and interesting. I haven’t encountered it in any similar genre books. Harry is simultaneously charming and frustrating. I adore her little brother Wes. I am not fond of how Harry is constantly insulting Marnie. But it is obvious he cares for her.

The problem with the series is book 5 leaves the story dangling and a new book doesn’t seem to be coming soon. I lose interest returning to a series if too much time accumulates between books.
