Charlie Naylor is a good guy, but he's never been great at multi-tasking. When Larynk, the god of corn, sends Charlie into a fantasy game, he just can't help himself trying. By combining his love of daggers, magic, and animals, he becomes the Blademage Beastmaster.

With a dangerous new pet, a deadly selection of daggers, and some awesome spells, he must make allies and kill monsters as he walks his path to glory. If he can do that, then he might just create a legacy for himself.

He used to work in an office where he pushed paper, filled in spreadsheets, and made coffee. Now, he casts, conjures, stabs, and tames.

Over all I like this book, the game rules, the class, the class skills and the pet all good. but there’s one thing that bothers me. his biggest problem in the book is trying to have the people in the town he lives in not kill his pet. but giving the other towns he’s been two seam to have no problems with the kind of beast his pet is, y docent he just leave? He docent even really build a friendship on his end in the town simply “buying” the friendship of the first npc he met. After him having the pet and living in the town becomes a problem they start to be friends, the logical solution at the beginning of his problem would have simply been to move on to a different town he is living in what seams to be the one town where people treat him like shit and are suspicious of him and want to kill his pet. It just docent make sense to me, maybe I missed something .

So, nothing like being sucked into a video game. This happens to Charlie when the 'god of corn' is trying to make a point and win at a completely different game. The story left a lot of questions asking 'why', but, over all, I really enjoyed the book. The ending didn't leave a cliffhanger, but did allow for the story to continue. Prefer that over cliff hangers, any day of the week.
Scott Bennett is the narrator and DEFINITELY one of my favorite narrators. His cadence and flow of the narrations and the character voices allow for the listener to know the story and who the characters are. There is zero doubt who is talking based on the voice alone.
I am looking forward to book 2. After all, I need some questions answered! haha

Reality game in a whole other level!

Blademage Beastmaster: A LitRPG Series, Book 1

By: Deck Davis Narrated by: J. Scott Bennett

What a fun imagination put to the pages! Deck Davis is a talented story teller. And Scott Bennett performs his story perfectly. I loved this godly world brought to earth in a fun, and sometimes funny way. The characters are as developed as they are unique. The world created for them is a perfect fit and the jokes are hilarious.

I loved this book and rate the story with 4 stars, the narration with 5 stars and overall this is a 4.5 star book.

this is a great book, the concept is something that I have thought about a lot. the only issue is that the narrator's voice is so relaxing to me I fall asleep everytime. THIS IS A GOOD THING FOR ME. As I have severe insomnia. and it took me 3 months to finish the story completely. I am going to get the next one soon.

great book
